This review is for Panthers that are looking for information about Green Library. Always remember to bring your Panther ID. Just like if you go to the dry cleaner and without your claim ticket- if you do not have your student ID- the librarians and/ or interns at the library will barely notice your existence. You cannot check out any books. You cannot check out a laptop. You cannot check into the computer lab. You cannot check into a private study room. (Obviously with the Panther ID, all of this is available to you. The library is your oyster.). When you arrive downstairs, the first floor is not the library. There are classrooms. There is a food stop. Starbucks is located there. Not the library. To get to the library you must go up the escalator. There is a hidden elevator, but unless you are handicapped, just go on the escalator. When you go up to the second floor, this is the library. To the right is the check-out desk. You can check-out books, a laptop, seek assistance... IF you have your Panther ID card. On this second floor there are some classrooms. There is open seating, there are many computers available. This is not a quiet area. This is the area that you and a group of people can go together and study. Group project, paper, study session... here is where the party is. If you are on one of the computers in the library or checked out a laptop you can print to one of the printers. Printing is not free. Before you even think about printing anything at all you need a copy card or your FIU one card and some cash. You will need to go to the machine that adds money onto your card (for the life of me I cannot remember what it is called at this moment). In order to actually retrieve what you wanted to print, you must first choose to print it on your screen. Then you are to create a user name and password for the item that you are printing. This webpage will be helpful to you. http://libanswers.fiu.edu/a.php?qid=84971 If you are looking for the full-on quiet experience, get on the elevator and look at the floor plans. The upper floors are where the single seating and silence will be found. Don't be afraid to ask the librarians on the upper floors for assistance. They want to help you. The would love to help you do some research - especially if it is complicated research that requires you to look into holdings that you cannot check-out of the library. Make sure that if you are searching for books that you put that you are looking for books that are located in the GREEN library. If you see the BBC - then you are looking at books that are at the Biscayne Bay location. This library is far far far better than the Biscayne Bay FIU library.

    Having a blast, mentira.

A great way to study in a silent floor! Don't forget to ride up the stairs and not the elevator, chunky.

View from the 6th floor of the library.

Best place to study. I recommend 6th and 7th floor of the library. Very clean and many private rooms and a Starbucks in the first floor

Ask the Community - FIU Green Library

Can we still visit and study here if we are NOT a student?

Is this where Chris Brown Filmed his Kiss Kiss ft T-Pain music video 😳?

Yes it is, I just watched the video and can confirm.

Hi guys!! Could I study there if I'm not FIU student? I need a quiet place to study and that opens early as well. I really appreciate your help!

Yes. You can get a visitor pass at the entrance to the library! It's good for 6 months

The standout here is the Cuban Heritage collection, which is open to the public and has an amazing collection of lots of artifacts from Cuban history. Everything from the original daiquiri recipe to copies of ration cards. The collection also partners with the Freedom Tower. A wonderful resource for the community.

Lots of mixed feelings about this place…read more Plenty of computers and floor space but oddly not enough tables and chairs. The study rooms are like freezers but midday on the second floor is an oven. Plenty of printers but the wifi is spotty. Recently the management changed study room policy greatly limiting the flexibility of group work- resulting in mostly empty rooms as opposed to the constant battle for them. The stacks are quiet but have terrible ambience and even more terrible internet connectivity. It can get a bit creepy at night as desperate study spot vultures circle the shelves behind you. Accidentally taking the elevator down to the M level is also reminiscent of a potential horror movie scenario with its locked cage gates and dimly lit narrow aisles. Nonetheless, the place is open 24/7 during finals and is a reliable place to surround yourself with people doing mildly academic things. You'll at least feel a little less guilty about not studying after sitting here for half the day. Try the music library or the law library for a better library experience. If you're just here to get books, Richter is just as good as any other. At the end of the day, Richter is a University Library which could be a lot worse and has a fair number of amenities, and at least- does it's job passably. More like a 3.5 but I'll round to 4 for effort!

I was happily surprised at the authenticity of the "OG viet deli" option. It came with ingredients like cha lua and head cheese. I also love pate and this sandwich was absolutely packed with it. It was finally topped with tiny red chillis instead of the jalapenos I usually see in the US which I prefer since the pack a spicy punch. Though the sandwich was definitely not as spicy as I'm used to. The bread is also way thicker than I'm used to but it was fresh. I could not eat it until a while later and yet because it was all cold cuts, the sandwich was still quite good. Overall very well put together and service was friendly. My one qualm is that it is way more expensive for banh mi than I'm used to so this would be more of a place to go if I wanted to treat myself.

I had the Vietnamese iced coffee, and it was really good--smooth, bold, and refreshing. We also tried the short rib sandwich with pho broth and the lemongrass grilled chicken sandwich (which I prefer), and both were packed with flavor. Fresh ingredients, great sauces, and definitely a spot worth checking out.

The staff are polite, helpful, and welcoming, which I really appreciated. That said, because it's a public library in the Florida City area, you do need to stay aware of your surroundings. There can be a mix of people coming in and out, including some individuals who may make you feel a bit uncomfortable at times. What concerned me most, though, was my experience with security. I went into the restroom to change and breastfeed my 6-month-old daughter, and the security guard repeatedly knocked on the door in a way that felt excessive and made me extremely uncomfortable. As a mother trying to care for my baby, that situation felt inappropriate and unsettling. Overall, the facility and staff are great, but I hope management addresses situations like this so families can feel fully safe and comfortable while visiting.

It feels more like a tech hub than a true library. Also, parking is a hassle. There's a paid garage, but the entrance to the Cyberarium is on the opposite end of the building, and there's no direct access from the garage to the library itself. Not very user-friendly, especially if you're carrying things or dealing with bad weather
