I don't write reviews often because I tend to hoard great service providers for fear that they will become too popular. However, I have to write a review for Dr. Fitzpatrick. I've been coming to this location for a few years after I could no longer justify driving 90-100 minutes to see my previous atlas-orthogonal chiropractor. Not only did the receptionist call me on her day off when I left a panicked message, but Dr. Fitzpatrick was able to get me in as a new patient (within a couple of days), determine what was going on with my neck / back to formulate a plan, and then helped me get back to normal. Now he helps me come back to normal when I manage to hurt myself or do more than my body can handle (even though he really would prefer I not wait that long ). He's positive, efficient, likes to get you well and doesn't want you there every week when you're body is keeping your neck & back in line. Dr. Fitz is very talented and I have been extremely happy with my results in a very short amount of time. I came to him with the worst neck pain I've ever experienced in my life, I could not turn my head to either side, and everything hurts from sitting down standing up and laying down. And less than six visits he had my neck 100% back to normal. My insurance covered his office visits, but after seeing the statements, he is also very reasonably priced if you do not have insurance for this type of treatment. I came in with a minor pain in the neck, he did some manipulations and it felt better. Went a few times expecting to get the problem over with but learned that there was an expectation for me to become his permanent client to be seen on ongoing basis indefinitely! Wow! I do not have a permanent disability just an unstable atlas. Through the experience I later learned that yoga and dairy avoidance make my backbone stable. My family and I have been patients of Dr. Fitzpatrick's for nearly 20 years. There have been seasons where I personally, needed to come in often for treatment, perhaps due to a car accident or something else. Dr. Fitzpatrick would always encourage me to walk after a treatment. When my husband lost his job over 10 years ago, Dr. Fitzpatrick treated our family for a short time without charge. He is very skilled at what he does and extremely knowledgeable. He often ties in mind (stress), body (exercise being vital) and diet to his practice. Love his dry sense of humor and his huge heart for people. His staff is terrific! When Covid hit last year, I was very impressed by the practices that he and the staff were using to keep patients safe. Everyone there was wearing masks, acrylic divider was on the counter and examining beds were cleaned before use for next patient. Adjustments are less frequent these days. I was referred to Dr. Fitzpatrick a few years ago after a major car collision - I'd never been to a chiropractor before, and at the time felt that chiropractic care was largely quackery. But I needed my back problems dealt with, and my physician suggested I give it a try, so I did. Specificially I wanted a chiropractor who wouldn't violently twist and pop my body as I'd seen/heard reported in the media - I wanted only gentle, gradual correction of any problems. And that's what I got. Dr. Fitzpatrick is caring, thorough, and does *not* try to keep you coming back visit after visit for months without end as I've heard other chiropractors do. He figures out what's going wrong and takes care of it simply. I'm a rational person and chiropractic medicine still doesn't quite make complete sense to me - I comprehend pinched nerves and pressure and relieving them and how it can work, but sometimes it seems like magic the way Dr. Fitzpatrick can fix a problem when conventional doctors and medication wasn't able to. But I'm grateful, nonetheless! The office is always tidy, the staff always friendly, attentive, and helpful. It's too bad one of the Yelp reviewers had a bad experience with Dr. Fitz. I've been Dr. Fitz's patient for over 6 or so years. I had a terrible problem with my arm called tenosynovitis. It's very painful and I had it for over 10 years. Dr. Fitz was the ONLY doctor that figured out what my issue was and solved it after seeing arm specialists and other medical specialists....I've been pain free for years now. I go to him as often as I can for health "maintenance" and take both my boys there. He works individually with each patient and if he can't help you, he will tell you so. He's not like other chiropractors where he wants you to come 3x a week for a month, then 2x a week for 2 months, and so on. He will only see you if he can make you better. Hands down...Dr. Fitz is one of the best chiropractors I have seen. You have nothing to lose! read more

I have been seeing different atlas orthogonal practitioners over the years, since a car wreck left me with a pretty messed up neck and shoulder. Others have had to take xrays over and over in order to get my neck realigned, and never really get my neck back in. After years of discomfort and pain, Dr. Fitzpatrick has finally gotten my neck back in alignment! Basically had immediate relief, and when my neck slipped in a weird way, he has the wherewithal and the experience, to eyeball it. He will move your body into the correct position to get the neck realigned, rather than placing your body in the same positions every time and hoping for the best. No more hundreds of xrays! No more constant pain! He is patient, and he also listens to what I say when it comes to how my body is feeling. I can't say enough good things. It only took three visits to get my neck to hold, and I don't have the same fear of it slipping out because I know it can be put back into place with minimal unease when it does. My boyfriend is also seeing Dr. Fitzpatrick with great results. I very rarely write yelp reviews. But Dr. Fitzpatrick and his staff deserve one! Dr. Fitzpatrick is great! I was referred to his practice by a neurologist at Valley Medical to get atlas orthogonal treatment. It's not only tough to find a chiropractor that specializes in this type of care, but even more impossible to find a place that offers in-network options with my insurance company! I started seeing Dr. Fitzpatrick a couple months ago and have been happy with my progress getting relief from my pinched top vertebrae nerves that have been causing me migraines. Dr. Fitzpatrick builds great rapport with clients, Heather at the reception desk had my name memorized instantly and is ALWAYS in a cheery mood when I come in. I am in shock as to what just happened and feel that I need to share my experience for others that are considering chiropractic care. I am a new mom and have hurt my neck pretty badly from breastfeeding and caring for my baby full time. I was in so much pain and so immobile that I couldn't take care of her for a week. Because it's such an inconvenience for others to help me I was looking for quick, pertinent care to get me through the pain and give me ideas to help me not let it happen in the future. I went to a few chiropractors before deciding to come to Dr. Fitz for hopefully my last appointment because I knew my atlas was out. He no doubt is the best at fixing the atlas but in telling him my story and asking how many adjustments he thinks I would need to get better (because my time is precious and rest completely on others watching my daughter) he replied with "I don't know you're kind of irritating the hell out of me. I don't know how long it's going to take...I can't fix ya and it seems like that's what's your looking for." I replied and said I'm sorry I wasn't trying to be irritating I just have to be real with my time. Then he said "Why don't you just go to other chiropractors, you already have" then he walked out of the room and didn't hand me the exercise sheet we were talking about. I left in tears and shock that that just happened. I didn't come to get my neck fixed and my soul destroyed. Terrible experience. Never have I had a medical professional say "you irritated the shit out of me looking at your phone earlier". While he was preparing X-rays. Also, audibly hearing the receptionist refer to one of their patients as "a hot mess" to the doctor, very offensive. i've been seeing dr. fitz since april and i just love him to pieces! he's a chiropractic specialist - he is certified in atlas orthogonal chiropractic. that's a type of work done in realigning the atlas, the first vertabra from the skull. when it's out of alignment or twisted it causes all kinds of problems. for me it was chronic headaches. i was referred by my neurologist as part of a holistic, comprehensive treatment plan for my headaches and migraines. after a few months i learned the signs my body gives me when i'm out of alignment. he always squeezes me in when i have a headache & takes care of it so i don't pump myself full of drugs that only provide mediocre relief. do yourself a favor & see dr. fitz! if you also need a naturopath, his daughter is an nd and shares his office. read more

I was ready to throw-in-the-towel after YEARS of seeking SOMEONE that could relieve me of my serious neck, back and head pain. The idea of being forever tied to pain pills was not pleasant and I was hesitant to jump to yet another chiropractor after so many failed and often more painful experiences. I was pleasantly surprised, when the office staff squeezed me in on a busy Friday (even as a new patient) and I openly shared with Dr. Fitzpatrick that he was my last try. I didn't know if there were anymore options for me...I was just so frustrated and tired of the pain! I was grateful for his honest response and realistic approach to trying all in his arsenal and to carefully determine what could be done - what a difference from, "Of course we can fix you!" He had some very specific methods of accurate atlas alignment I had not seen used by any other chiropractor. As well his cranial sacral therapy is something I had previously known ONLY to be paid out of pocket from an independent therapist. Needless to say, I was grateful to have relief that SAME day! I have been continuously encouraged by the many methods Dr. Fitzpatrick has used to enable my healing beyond what ANY other practitioner has done ~ and each of our family members have found the same, even with very different concerns. He has always taken the time for thorough assessment and diligent care to be certain we leave in a much better condition than we arrived. A neurologist referred my daughter to Dr. Fitzpatrick for her migraines. His technique for atlas orthogonal and conventional chiropractic provided huge relief! All four of our family members have become patients for various reasons, and have been blessed by his skill. I didn't like this guy. My mother suggested I see him and she thinks he is great. I was open minded, but I am wary of chiropractors because although I have been helped before when I had whiplash, I question a practice that puts you on a canned regimen of ongoing treatment regardless of what ailment you come in with. This is exactly what happened. I came in with an actual neck injury--a neck strain that wouldn't go away and was causing me unbelievable pain. At the worst, I couldn't rest my head. I was carrying hot water bottles and ice packs and a backpack full of care items to work. Because I was a new patient, I was told I would have to reserve one of the time slots they keep just for new patients--this meant waiting, in pain, for over a week. Because I had to commute 20 miles to Issaquah, this also basically required taking time off work to get seen. I went to a chiropractor out of desperation--I was worried I kept reinjuring my neck because it was not aligned correctly. I did not wait long in the waiting room, the front desk was nice, and the paperwork was easy. However, the doctor barely listened to me. He did not seem interested in my strain--how it happened, what it felt like, nothing. He didn't check my neck or spine or anything the real doctor did. He ran the usual chiropractic tests that they always do, checking your ability to resist, etc. I was pronounced to be weak on my injured side (not surprising to me). He spoke to me for about 5 minutes and then took X-rays. This made me uncomfortable because I didn't know why X-rays were needed for a soft tissue tear. You can't see soft tissue with an X-ray. He did not show me the X-rays. He told me my neck looked like the marketing poster on his wall--only reversed--and that it was not caused by my neck strain and that it would take a regimen of appointments to fix. Then he sent me back to reception to make a follow-up appointment. He was also rude to me and indicated that he didn't like me because I asked why I was not being adjusted today for the reason I came in and had to come back. I received no adjustment, nor even advice for my injury, nor a copy of the X-rays, nor an explanation of the Atlas method. When I got the bill, it was $142 for the office visit and $65 for the X-rays. He does take insurance, but I am on a HD plan and they covered nothing. I was also in pain, and scared because I could not sleep, or I would not have gone. I imagine that if I did the follow up it would be another $142 for another office visit + more for the actual adjustment, and every one thereafter until my deductible was met. Insurance would pay nothing. I saw no reason to split the visits into two except to extract more money from the patient...or because of bad scheduling, which is what he said when I expressed confusion at having to come back. I also don't know why I needed X-rays. Afterward, I looked up the origins of chiropractic care and the Atlas method in particular, which was interesting. I won't say there's no good to be had from chiropractic adjustments because I have had whiplash before and chiropractors HAVE helped me. This doctor can probably help you if you are just looking for someone to adjust you gently, but there is a lot of metaphysical nonsense mixed into chiropractic care that I think is weird and I prefer a chiropractor that explains their practice and have some actual medical knowledge of muscles and bones and nerves and how to treat or prevent injuries in conjunction with adjustments (when needed). I will add that the office sent me my X-rays on CD after I wrote this review. I have no way of knowing if the images are really me, but that was decent, so I upgraded my experience to 2-stars. My neck eventually healed on its own. I went to a different chiropractor closer to my area to be adjusted too--one who is also a physical therapist and provided some exercises and recommendations for my posture, which may have caused or contributed to the injury.
