Horrendous and scary experience. Went in with neck and shoulder pain and with the first adjustment i though he broke one of my ribs. I felt he pushed me so abruptly and hard that my rib made 2 loud crack noises and my body immediately went into shock shaking and shivering after his rough maneuvering. He paid no attention to the fact i stated moments ago I have osteopenia and never asked me about past history of broken bones, MRIs, xrays or anything other imaging. He decided not to take my copay and he told me to call him if i needed him. What an irony. He never called me to check how i was doing. I left with a traumatic experience and i have not been able to lay on my belly after over 2 weeks of the visit due to the rib pain he caused me with that only time he touched me. I should have known better. He was the only one in his office when i called. No receptionist. One man show. He was abrupt during the phone call, i asked for a day and a time and i got it with no problem, but he said he had 3 clients waiting... Why is he picking the phone then? Website advertised massage, but he offers no massage. He speaks so loud, it's uncomfortable. Not very relaxing. Office carpets were filthy, equipment looked like from before this millenium. I have been to numerous other providers throughout the years, including chiropractors and I have never had an experience as horrendous as this one. Never again. Brutal. read more

I have been visiting this office for years! I receive A combination of treatments; massage therapy and chiropractic services. Sam always answers the phones with warmth and proffesionalism. She always goes out of her way to help me with my insurance and book services I need. A little about Guy: he loves to have long conversations about anything in general. Makes you feel like your visiting a friend or family to catch up. He is very good at what he does. I had an ankle injury that was terrorizing me and he was able to treat and make feel better. My posture and back always are better when I leave and he really goes above and beyond to make sure you are in optimal health when you leave. In the 5 years I have been going, I don't think there was ever a time I called and he didn't take me in within 15 minutes and his practice is always busy! Highly reccomend! read more

Funny Guy always cracks me up both literally and figuratively. This guy's got jokes and he's fun to talk to. Been in the business for over 30+ year so he knows his stuff. Dr. Backstrom is a miracle-worker. Early in 2010, I fell down 20 concrete stairs on my face. I had physio, massage, you name it, but the thought of a chiropractor scared me, so I never went. Finally, my mum dragged me to Bear Creek. The first session was a doozy. But after the second session I found I was able to stand properly upright without being in pain. I'm only 26, so I'd never even considered a fall could do so much long-term, almost unnoticeable damage. I hadn't even realised I was in so much pain until it stopped. It also helps that both Guy and Jennifer are the nicest people you can meet. :) They're both full of helpful suggestions that actually work. I have been coming here since 2008 for regular chiropractic adjustments and deep tissue massages. I am so glad I found this place! Kami, the massage therapist, is one of the best I have encountered. She can find the exact spot that is the problem and work it out. I like a very deep / firm massage and she can give you that. In addition to being very easygoing and personable, she is also very flexible and will work to find a time to get you in. Guy Backstrom (yes, his real last name ;) is the Chiropractor who is very good. I have not regularly visited a chiropractor before, but I had no reason to go to anyone else. It is very easy to just drop in, or call and say I am on my way - and you are worked in no problem. The office is situated in the heart of Redmond, a few blocks off of Redmond Way, so very convenient. It is a small practice with a friendly / almost a family feel to it. Be sure to add a few minutes in your schedule for visiting. :) The only down side is they are closed on Thursdays, so if that works in your schedule check them out. read more

I've been going to Guy Backstrom for 15 years, since I was pregnant with my first child and experiencing back pain. He's a wonderful chiropractor. Not only does he successfully adjust a neck issue I've had since that time, he also suggested a few years ago that I eliminate gluten from my diet after my medical doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. Turns out I have celiac disease and didn't know it; doctors were testing me for some very scary diseases trying to figure it out, yet never considered gluten as the culprit. I've worked in the tech industry across the US, and I've met lots of chiropractors who have helped me with work-related back and neck stress issues -- Dr. Backstrom is the best one I've found. He is really great at making very effective manual adjustments (besides manual adjustments, he does use other techniques, such as laser, for patients with issues other than mine). He also gives patients lots of tips for improving back health so they need to make fewer trips to the chiropractor. Every time I had a neck pain or back pain, I go to Dr. Backstrom. He can magically fix my problems with a few simple push and twist on my back. I'm a very skeptic person and consider Chiroptactics dangerous but I trust Dr. Backstrom to do the proper adjustment. This last weekend, I sprained my back when sawing a piece of plastic. I have been going to chiropractors for years and never had a bad experience. I have scoliosis and chiropractic combined with massage keeps me going. The first appointments and adjustments went fine, but then during an adjustment I felt something "pull" in my ribcage causing pain that continued to worsen. For a month, I was in significant pain. I assumed it was a sprain or strain. When I went back to the office, the chiro told me that interestingly enough, another patient had recently had the same experience. My wife visited Dr. Backstrom for rib pain in early Jan 2014, and instead of having it fixed, left his office with a sharp neck pain which resulting in months of staying at home, dizziness, excessive tear production and inability to drive. Multiple visits to neurologist, expensive MRIs and MRAs, and significant stress. Dr. Backstrom stated that he was one of the best chiropractors in the area, and he can show us techniques that we have not seen with any other chiropractor. First, he proceeded with adjustments without taking an X-ray and made a very unusual lateral head adjustment that immediately caused sharp pain and resulted in dizziness. I say that because: ***Dr. Guy has adjusted me many times during the past few years and has reliably and consistently relieved my pain and increased my range of motion. ***He's helped me immeasurably. Like so many people (maybe you?), I have chronic neck pain and lower back pain. In my case, my pain is based on injuries I inflicted on myself during my youth; all the times as a knucklehead teenager that I jumped off of things, crashed into things, or ALMOST jumped over things. Or showed off for a girl. (Like the time I jumped off a waterfall: good jump, unfortunate landing.) Plus a high school football injury. I'm now at the age where it's all catching up with me. ***As a result Dr. Guy's treatments I can do the things I want to. I have an enthusiasm for bicycle touring and I flat out could not do that anymore before I began treatments from Dr. Guy Backstrom. ***He's very fair on pricing. Let me be honest, I have never "believed in" chiropractors before. But while training for a 1/2 marathon, I ended up injuring my foot. I went to physical therapy, had it x-rayed, got new shoes, new insoles, ice, rest...everything. Nothing was working! I decided to try Dr. Backstrom, and after my first appointment, the pain in my foot was gone! I was able to run my first 2 miles in 4 months. I returned for a couple more adjustments since my tendons and muscles in my feet and legs were adjusting to the new position. I have to say, Dr. Backstrom fixed me. BEST CHIROPRACTOR EVER!!! CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM!!! After going to about a dozen different chiropractors over the years I finally found Guy based on the recommendation of my real estate agent about 7 years ago. Guy adjusts my daughter, me and some of my friends who now go to see him and rave about him too. I cannot imagine ever going to see anyone else. He is straight forward, caring, and extremely skilled. He can do tricky adjustments that other chiropractors simply won't do. After having gone to all those chiropractors, he was able to do a few difficult adjustments that no one else had done and my problem was mostly fixed after one session and I'd been in chronic pain for years. If you've ever been in real terrible pain with no solution, finding someone like Guy is an absolute Godsend. He doesn't "require" any visits at all and I've never needed xrays. Also, visits are almost entirely covered by my insurance. Plus, going to his office is like entering a cross between a Seinfeld episode and Bonanza. My daughter and I have had some scary injuries in the past where great care was called for. He has more than earned our family's trust and has truly been such an asset and resource to our family that I consider him a friend. I come out of his office laughing and feeling better physically and emotionally. I simply cannot recommend him highly enough. Guy and Jennifer are both a blessing in my life. read more

He welcomes walk-ins and accommodates you even on his busy days. He stays later than most places - 6:30 - 7 pm. Unfortunately closed on Thursdays. His bedside manner may be off putting for some. He is upfront to the point of brutally honest. I can handle that and prefer that. He's also funny when you get to know him. I've seen him on and off for so long that he's more of a good friend now. When you call during regular business hours, his receptionist answers on the first ring. Sometimes it doesn't even ring before she picks up! Always efficient and friendly. You can always tell how well employees are treated by the way you are treated. This is a small place. There's a tiny play table for a kid in the reception. A massage chair to the left of the door as you walk in. There's onsite massage but I haven't tried her yet. I would recommend coming here. read more

I have nothing but praise for Dr. Backstrum. My first appointment with him was when I was having some sciatica, lower back pain, and pelvic pain in the third trimester of pregnancy. That was November - December of 2015. He worked on my hips and back and gave me considerable relief while pregnant. After my baby was born, I waited about 4 months for my body to completely heal, but I was really having a tough time lying flat in bed and turning from side to side in bed. I was having pelvic pain as well as some hip and back pain. Being pregnant with and birthing a big baby took a toll... not to mention carrying around that big baby afterward. I've been back to see him for almost a month now, and I wish I'd gone back sooner. Dr. Backstrum has helped me so much in just a few weeks. I'm still working on being able to sleep a full night in bed, but my mobility while lying down is greatly improved. Chiropractors get a bad rap, because it seems like people starting going and never stop. I was a little leery of this when I sought out chiropractic care, but you don't have to worry about that with Dr. Backstrum. He started out seeing me 3 times a week and is now starting to taper that off. He doesn't like to over-treat people. He's interested in getting people healthy in as many or as few adjustments as it takes. Both Dr. Backstrum and his admin assistant, Sam, are friendly and personable. I enjoy my visits in the office.
