I tried giving this no stars but it wouldn't allow me to
I don't know who the other reviewers were but astroturf comes to mind. they read like sales pitches "a business run on old fashioned principles of good service, honest opinions and fair price" How does anyone know what a fair price is? in my experince that should a business run on the old fashioned principles of how garages used to be i.e. bad and slow service, telling a pack of porkies, making customers pay as much as they can. Modern garages especially dealers are at least honest about costs, provide full information and typically do a good job quickly!
And whilist I am commenting about others reviews who says VW/Audi specialist in a review? Actually i would agree that they must be specialists in VW/Audi because fixing the car so it would fail again in 3 months shows they know a lot about how to subtly break a car. This is in my opinion, but my and my friends experience of fitzharris is that they break your car so that you have to come back to them to get it fixed again.
I personally have had good new high performance bulbs taken out by them and then changed for standard bulbs and then charged for the service.
I said I was going to get all my wheel bearings changed and got a quote for complete replacement, they said thay would do it for the same price. I foolishly went to them and they said they had removed the bearings had looked at them and put them back - NOT what i had agreed too.
However I suspect now that they had merely inspected them and charged me for replacement.
Why? because a friend asked for his turbo to be fixed, fitzharris claimed that they had completly reconditioned the unit removing all the buildt up carbon - when inspected by another garage it was clear the bolts were rusted in place - Fitzharris had merely sprayed cleaner through the turbo.
Not that fixed the problem it was only 2 years later after repeated visits to Fitzharris to fix a litany of faults that it was finally fixed at another garage.
The garage found sensors unscrewed from the firewall and left to bounce along on the gearbox. But that wasn't the issue the actual issue was the EGR valve had failed and the air manifold was thick with coke. They found it almost instantly as they had a checklist of the known faults and the air manifold was at the top of the list!!
I could go about how terribly I have been treated about fitzharris, and so I shall! Because i figure if you have read this far you might need further clues why I recommend to everyone far and and wide to avoid fitzharris at all costs - but that's my opinion - other people opnions my vary and my exeperince may not match your experience, I'm saying that because I don't want to be sued by fitzharris and although everything I have said is true they miight use legal means to make me suffer as a result of teling my personal history
In their defense Fitzharris were constantly lending me very old cars of various makes for me to drive whilist they were fixing my car again.
They messed up the passenger window of my car and rather then fix the problem they suggested putting a wooden block so it couldn't be opened at all since it would save me £30 on a £200 bill!
they said they could fix the instrument binacle on the car - which was faulty. they cleimed to have removed, found that it couldn't be fixed and then replaced it so it wouldn't work and charged me several hundred pounds for the privalage
When I sourced a new one from VW the claimed it was impossible to set the odometer to the correct milage despite the manual that had been supplied with it specifying how to do it and that it could be done for 50miles after it had been fitted
I now have a passat that shows the incorect mileage by 130,000 miles
I went to fitzharris for about 2-3 years and the car was with them seemingly every few months to have stuff fixed again. I admit they may have changed in the past few years but friends reports suggestt they haven't changed they found what I found that when you took the car to another garage a lot of issues needed to be fixed but then the car worked fine for nearly 2 years and the only faults were stuff like worn brakes
your experiance might well differ but based on various peoples opinions of fitzharris, our general opnion is avoid! read more
