Has modern, heavy dumbbells for stronger lifters. 5. Has pretty much any machine you could need. CONS: 1. TOO MANY CLIENTS FILMING THEMSELVES ON WEIGHT LIFTING FLOOR!!!! There are tripods all over the gym floor and it's getting worse! Have to move them to get to benches sometimes and you will end up getting recorded one's on someone's iPhone/Android. I've seen gym users trip over tripods twice. If you frequent this gym, don't be surprised if you end up on someone's OnlyFans, Instagram, or YouTube channel. Real problem that's getting worse quickly at this gym and owner (good guy) hasn't addressed it. 2. Lot of younger members aren't serious weight lifters or fitness enthusiasts. Lot of people standing around chatting in groups when gym is busiest. 3. Clients can do a better job of putting weights back and wiping down equipment after use. Owner has done everything he can to encourage owners to do so. Tripods and cameras are a major problem at this gym and wish the owner had some sort of policy to address this or ban them outright.. I want to warn everyone that numerous reviewers who mentioned that this gym will be charging you after you discontinue your membership are 100% correct. The gym manager Jose is doing some kind of shady business with former customers credit cards. I had an in person meeting with him to have my membership terminated. I signed whatever forms I was supposed to sign and Jose assured me that I would not be charged again. Guess what? A year later, I was charged the annual fee. I had to ask for a refund. Next year the same annual fee was charged and this repeated year after year for 6 years(!) Ultimately, I had no choice but to cancel my credit card and report the gym for repeated unauthorized charges. After Jose was served with an official letter, which actually happened months after my complaint to the bank, he had nerve to text me and say that I owed him something. The gym manager was certainly unprofessional. He never apologized for charging my card for years (!) after he personally ended my membership. My guess is that he never removes customers' credit card info from the system assuming that people would be too busy to check their statement and notice the annual fee. Check the BBB reviews, too, for other customers' experiences. If you ever decide to quit this gym, start by canceling your cc right away!!! Otherwise, you will be on the hook to pay the annual gym maintenance fee as long as your cc number remains the same. read more

Great staff always kind and nice. Chill gym best time to come is between 12-4. I've been coming here for 7 months and never had any problems. Plenty of space and different machines. Cardio area as well as a gym area and a great yoga area as well. Bathrooms are clean and space to shower and have lockers. A sauna as well which is nice. 24/7 open. read more

I wanted to wait a few months before writing a review to really get a feel for the place and I have to say, this gym is fantastic! The new ownership has really turned this place into something special. I belonged to this gym years ago. It was dirty, poorly run, and equipment was often broken so I left. I decided to try again when I saw that the gym was under new management since it's so close to my house making it a super convenient location. It very clean. I usually go twice a week in the middle of the day for personal training and there is always a crew there cleaning. It's worth noting that was happening well before covid-19 was even a thing. They just have an extremely high standard of cleanliness here. They have a great variety of equipment and new machines pop up from time to time. Weights are all in order and not left lying around. I don't take classes so I can't speak to those but I do see Jaisson for personal training. He has done a wonderful job of providing me with a routine that has really me make progress towards my goals. I lost 15 pounds and lots of inches over a period of about six weeks. The staff here is friendly. I can't say enough nice things about this place. I'm glad I rejoined. read more

Figured this gym could use some RECENT reviews. I've been going on and off to Fitness Evolution Laurel since 2018 and more consistently in the past year. In that time frame--I've seen a complete makeover happen at the gym. From a new paint job to new equipment to new disinfecting stations. You can tell that the owner, Jose, really cares about his gym and its patrons. The changes are consistent and I really appreciate the continued improvements. Rome wasn't built in a day! I haven't used any trainers nor do I attend the classes, but I have met some of the instructors and trainers and they all seem super nice and friendly. The entire establishment is pretty welcoming and for someone who was intimidated at first, it is really helpful to not feel like you're constantly being judged. At the entrance, you will find individual disinfectant bottles with towels so that everyone can wipe down their equipment before and after. I haven't had any issues with that... and regardless I wipe my stuff down prior to using anyway. The women's locker room is nice and has showers and a sauna as well as a comfy chair if you need a minute. Overall, this is a "no frills" type of gym. You have everything you need to get a good workout in. Free weights, machines, spin room, cardio machines, mats, etc. they even have extras like bands and jump ropes that you can borrow. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone in the area. Can't wait to see the continued growth of this gym! read more

I love this gym, came back about 2 mos ago and the place is immaculate! Temperature checked at door, your own towel and personal sanitizer is dispensed. The gym is sprayed with industrial disinfectant (see Instagram) daily. Gym floor has markings to socially distance attendees and everyone wears a mask. I heard from one of the instructors that a new hepa air system was put in before the start of the pandemic. This gym is going the distance and they really care about our health. read more

Over all, the gym has a super good atmosphere. Folks have been cool about letting me know when equipment is available & when it's not, and have even openly offered to let me work in a set on the equipment their using (I've heard this is a thing at gyms, but have never actually been to one where it happens). The place is clean, the clients and staff are welcoming & create a good environment, and there's a really good variety of equipment. I feel like the owner is paying attention to what's used most often and is purchasing new equipment accordingly. The music is good, but keeps to the clean versions of songs- which doesn't matter much to me, but I think is a good move as a lot of folks bring their kids to the little day care area. I did have a little hiccup with payment once- their system erased my payment info for some reason. But the staff were able to clear it up quickly and were super patient with me when I got a little bratty about the situation- which is really nice! I've had bad experiences with gyms charging me when they shouldn't have and then being treated poorly after arguing to get it sorted- I really appreciate that the staff didn't hold my minor, anxiety driven freak out against me. I spoke to someone named Jose about why this gym is still billing me (I have not been here in years) I was sick and bed ridden all of last year up until I was able to recover and learned to walk again. Obviously there is no need for membership right? Well I called to reverse the almost $300 charge on my credit card and to cancel my at-will month to month membership when I was told that they would not reverse it and I would need to come in and give them doctor notes to cancel. Keep in mind that I do not have a contract with them and they told me if I reverse the charges then they will not close my account and will send it to collections. They also said that they had someone go to my home twice this year about my account why would someone come to my home over a month to month gym membership). This is like a smaller, more well meaning but missed the mark Planet Fitness. But I like it that way. I don't need my gym to have shiny colors and a tanning bed. I need it to have gym equipment, a good locker room, and clean mats for crucnches. The only thing's I've found fault with so far have been a broken locker and some wonky heart sensors. It's like hand-me-downs. But they have an adequate cardio selection and an adequate strength area. I think this is still owned by Gold's Gym & they decided to make it a "Fitness Evolution' as a side project. Because my lovely cheap membership ($10) came through my bank as Gold's. read more

Plenty of cardio machines, benches, free weights, and machines. Staff is kind of useless if you ask them anything, but whatever. The equipment is there and the hours are descent. Now that I got the good out of the way, here's the bad: Easily one of the most frustrating gyms to work out at. And it's not so much the equipment, it's the members who work out there. No one seems to grasp the concept of putting things back when you're done with them. Every time I go in, the dumbbells are completely out of order and 20% of them are missing off the rack and you have to play I spy around the gym to locate them. People who work out here also fail to grasp the concept of wiping things down when they are done. So if you choose to go here, I would wipe down the equipment BEFORE AND AFTER you're done, gross. Lastly, they seem to lack enough clamps for the bars. Again, you have to search around the gym for them. read more

I absolutely love this gym. The staff are friendly, the equipment is plentiful (they have EVERYTHING!), and it's very clean. I miss the sauna but when we were able to use it before Covid, it was great! They give each member their own spray bottle and towel so you can wipe down the equipment before and after use. I love this place. I did the 20/30 and lost 30 lbs in 30 days. Anyone that tells you otherwise did not follow the rules. I really love what the new owner Jose has done with the place. It was like an overnight transformation. They added new equipment new/better staff and it is better organized. This gym finally got the TLC it needed. I would recommend this gym to everyone. Two things: 1. If you don't cancel your membership at the end of the month, they will charge you for the next month regardless. Per them, it takes 30 days to cancel your membership (which is absurd). 2. Every time I go, the amount of people who DO NOT wipe off the equipment is astounding (just nasty). I know this may not be an issue exclusive to this location but at least at other gyms they have tons of signage reminding patrons to wipe down after use. I've been going to Fitness Evolution for the last 6 months. They offer a great selection of classes. I hate equipment.......I find it so boring. My schedule is Monday (Total Body), Wednesday (Kickboxing) and Friday (Zumba). Most of the instructors are really cool. There's a been a turnover with the Zumba instructors (I still miss Toni). I highly recommend this gym for Laurel residents. You can't beat "no contract" gym memberships. For free reign of the gym it's only $22.99 for me. If all you're looking for is access to equipment it's only $11.99 per month.......how can you beat that? Overall: Great gym for the price. read more

Avoid this gym and avoid giving these people your money. Like a few reviews listed below I have similar feedback. To be fair, I'll go with the good and then the bad. The good -Its an intimate gym so you'll see the same people when you go. -The classes aren't too bad, I think that is due to the teachers. -It isn't too long of a wait during the peak times. The bad -It is generally pretty stuffy and sweaty; gets grosser in the summer. Honestly, there have been days that I've avoided this gym because of the smell. -Its a nice long awkward walk to the locker rooms; right past all of the lifting equipment. One could guess why that may be uncomfortable. -While the classes are good, they are not offered frequently. I think there were only 2 yoga classes. [compared to the 7+ LA fitness offers each week] -Above all other complaints!! The management/customer service. Allow me to explain: I called in January to update my banking information. It was confirmed, and each month following they continued to charge the wrong account. [to clarify, each month -I called back and updated -4 times!] The manager basically had the same attitude as listed in other reviews. I explained that each month, when they are charging the wrong card my bank charges me an additional $30. I cancelled my membership and they are still attempting to collect the remaining $20 for the last months membership after I had my bank block their charges. The entire situation was avoidable, it could have easily been fixed if the franchise owner had even an ounce of concern for his customers. This place will screw up your membership, I have heard it and others have mentioned it here. Besides, its a pretty low rent gym. My wife had been using this gym, until we saw that they were charging extra annual fees. When we inquired to get clarification, Ceasar Rono the manager, told me that I was "wasting his time" (then later in the conversation, denied saying it). Basically the issue is that they charge you the annual fee for the whole year, no matter when you sign up. They make it difficult to cancel also. Ceasar (CEA-sar, as he corrected me, even though his on employee pronounced it wrong to me) was not professional. For the price, it's reasonable enough in terms of equipment and classes, but this was the third or 4th time we had bad customer service. I've never had a store manager tell me I'm wasting his time. By the way, he made it clear that he's an electrical engineer doing what he loves. I'm not sure why this was relevant. Very poor service over a matter of only $20 or so. The classy, professional thing to do would have been to simply give a prorated adjustment. My suggestion is to go to one of the many other "basic" gyms (sports fit and planet fitness) nearby. read more

This is one of the nicer places to get physical gym training. The trainers work well and are very personable. I've been going for about 7 months. Price is reasonable and I get a lot for my money. They have a variety of classes offered several times a week. Ive heard the gym management has significantly improved over the last year and I agree. Jose is awesome. AVOID AT ALL COST. This is the worst gym with the shadiest business practices. No customer service whatsoever. They will nickel and dime you for every little thing. They tell you that you need to cancel 30 days in advance with a hand delivered letter, yet when you try to cancel, they say screw you, we will only accept the letter Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Then they will charge you again after the 30 days and say is cause a cancelation takes 50 days to process. When you ask to talk to any manager, they will tell you that there is nothing you can do about it. They will literally rob you for any money they can get and then say that you never paid even though the charge is processed and finalized on your credit card. They deserve to go out of business. I'm member to this gym for more than 14 years, it is clean and nice. we just have problem with of the manager she fight with the customers for the equipment, the gym during the weekends open at 8:00am she going in to the gym the 10 minute before customers get in to so she can pick and choose her own machine, and do not let the customers to use it. I think her name is anne . that is one of the reason me and wife quit. what customer services. I fee sorry for the owner they will loose costumers,with someone like that. read more

I am a member for 4 years and for me it was always okay, they have everything I need for my training. But with the new management I'm noticing some real good changes. The gym is more clean and the customer service are more friendly. The training classes are awesome as well. The restrooms are clean all day long now, and not just in the morning. Shady shady business practices. Aside from it being a pretty basic and CRAMPED FUNKY gym with no real amenities (but you get what you pay for) the gym employees are pretty horrible. Those 5 star reviews on this place are very fake, this place is cramped, equipment is old and the customer service is beyond terrible. It clearly used to a Golds gym and I looks like they just kept the same old crappy equipment and renamed the place. Don't even think about coming during peak time because the place is packed to capacity with people standing around trying to be noticed, especially the women. If you're a serious lifter this is not the place for you, it's cheap but remember you get what you pay for. read more
