If it were not for our trainer Sylvia and Fitdog LA my wife and I would truly be way over our heads with our new puppy Ralph. I had no idea what to do to train my new puppy, but Sylvia did, and with her help, we have such a good boy! We be so lost without her. We have been doing some one-on-one training/classes at Fitdog with Sylvia and then did a 3-week winter camp that let us go away to enjoy the holiday, knowing our Ralph was in the best of hands. She honestly treats your pup as her own. The one-on-one training has been so helpful not just for Ralph's sake but for me as well to help with his development and becoming the best of boys. The 3-week winter camp was just incredible and really well executed. It sounded so much fun I kind of wish I was able to go too! Every day had fun activities planned, from hiking, to sent work, to playtime, etc., all to help build his confidence and skills. We got daily photos and videos recapping that day's fun. At the end of the three weeks, Syliva gave us a detailed journal that went over each day's day-to-day, and we noticed such a difference in Ralph's behavior. He left a wild man and came home a civilized gentleman. One big thing that we have been struggling with is getting Ralph to settled - he does not like to be left out as he has major FOMO and becomes his alter ego, Travis Barker - Well, Sylvia worked her magic over those three weeks and got rid of that bad behavior. I really can't recommend Sylvia and the team at Fitdog LA enough. If you just got a new puppy look no further. Book Sylvia ASAP, and you will have a good boy/girl in no time. read more

My dogs spent a long weekend there and both came back with runny nose even though they both had flu, lepto and bordatella vaccines. I have never experienced this before. They also spent a full week there last week. My dog developed a large ulcer in his eye while under their care. It started with a very noticeable red eye and they did an eye wash after two days. It then turned white and foggy and he was squinting in pain. They told me he looked better but asked if I would like them to take him to emergency vet. His eye looked horrible. I am angry that they would say it looked better. He went to the vet. We had a $500 bill and another $500 opthomologist bill from today. My dog's eye looks horrible and he is in a lot of pain. This review is for Rhonda and the 0L session puppy training. I paid $1450 for ten 3 hour sessions. The areas of focus were listed as excessive barking, impulse control, lunging on leash/at people or dogs, desensitization, traveling in vehicles, recall, chewing, crate training, jumping, and confidence building. I can say after 9 sessions, that there is no perceptible difference, except that my dog is now more confident walking into the Fitdog building--yet she still hates it there. There has been zero communication about what Rhonda actually has done with her 3 hours of personal training with my dog. From her one sentence "snapshots" that I received 66% of the time, I understand that she takes my dog on at least one walk a day. The first couple of trainings, I was told that Yanis the receptionist had a better relationship with my dog than her professional trainer. Upon rescheduling one session, I traded a 3 hour session for a 2 hour session because Rhonda had forgotten that she was not available at the new time. I find it telling that she did not even realize that her regular session was actually 3 hours. On Valentine's Day, I came to pickup my dog and found Rhonda at the front reception, failing to get dogs to sit for Valentines Day photos. I presume these photoshoots were scheduled all day. I suspect she did not spend much personal time with my dog that day. Rhonda then cancelled on a training after I already dropped my dog off. Nobody tried to reschedule and when I did there was no response. They are stunned that I am unhappy with the service. I don't know what Rhonda has done, if anything, and that is Fitdog's failure to communicate. My dog could have been in a crate for 5 hours a day and that would have constituted "crate training." Thank you Rhonda for building my "dog's confidence" in 9 3 hour sessions. She already knew her name before she started the training. I've forgiven a lot in the hopes of a better result, but this was a complete waste of time. read more

During COVID, I adopted a dog that was found in the Joshua Tree desert. He was practically wild but so incredibly sweet and smart. Coworkers recommended Fitdog to help with puppy training and day care if needed, so I took a chance and signed Rowan up for training with Rhonda. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made. She made sure that he was incredibly patient, focused and trained in everything from basic commands to safety habits (some of which I didn't even think to teach). I wanted to write this review because last night at the dog park, while other similarly aged puppies were getting crazy - if I needed to pull Rowan from the activity, all I had to do was call his name and he would look at me, then say come and he would peel off. I've never in my life had a puppy (and I've had a lot of dogs), who was able to assess that mom's command comes before play. It was so exciting! A few other recommendations - the entire team at FitDog is truly incredible. It feels like a family. Rowan loves his time at daycare, when he's not in a training class. And you get report cards and photo/video snapshots of the day. They stream both the big dog play area and small dog play area, which really helped when I was first getting used to Rowan not being around all of the time. Do not bring your dog here. The first time I brought my dog here for doggy daycare, I picked him up and his eye was swollen, bleeding, and he could barely keep it open. When I brought it up to them, they insisted that he was dropped off like that (he wasn't) and refused to take responsibility. The second time my dog ended up picking up a virus and was hospitalized for 2 days, costing me over $2000. They pack way too many dogs into a small space and don't have the right cleanliness measures in place. After both these terrible experiences, it's safe to say I won't be going back. read more

I took my dog to be groomed here & everyone was nice. However, my dog came back with an open wound/cut on her face in the form of a bump. I didn't notice it until a day later & hoped that if I treated it, it would heal & go away on its own. A few days later the size of the lump hadn't reduced but the bleeding stopped so I took her to the vet & they said that the sebaceous gland (gland that secretes oil onto the fur) had been bleeding & irritated from grooming & that they didn't think it was cancerous (thank god) because of how young she is but that they didn't know if it would recede in size or remain a large bump on her face forever. I signed my dog up for a 5 week long Obedience Training program at Fitdog with Silvia Wes and I'm so grateful for this experience! Silvia and her team worked patiently and thoroughly with my dog, Georgie, to ensure they are building her confidence and her skills. Silvia and her team were always so amazing with Georgie and treated her like their own. They updated me on her trainings each week with comments and pictures in addition to sending us home with homework to work on when she isn't at training. After her 5 weeks, Georgie is a completely different dog in the best way possible! Aside from training, Georgie LOVES to go to Fitdog in general. From a person who has tried multiple daycares since getting my dog, I realized that I made the right decision to sign her up here after seeing her so happy when I'd go to pick her up. Easily the BEST dog daycare facility in West LA. We've been to several daycare facilities in the area, but FitDog really stands out amongst the rest. We've been coming to FitDog for about 6 months and couldn't be happier. Jessica (and the rest of the staff) are very friendly and professional. Jessica always provides great recommendations and ideas - she is so knowledgeable and on-point with everything! Enzo is really important to us, and FitDog ensures that he has a fun, safe environment to hang out in while we are working full-time. We've done both the Puppy Essentials and Foundational Obedience course with Sylvia - she is such a gem! Let me start by saying I LOVE FITDOG! It has been a lifesaver & Sonny loves them! Sonny was a 2 year old stray rescue and quickly exhibited behavioral issues (anxiety, attacking other dogs, reactive, etc.) - you know the norm none of us know anything about. I immediately started socializing him, training, etc. His behavior improved a lot - although he is more reactive with me, than without me (21 pounds of protector!). Fitdog has provided him with a safe, supportive environment to improve his socialization without me & continue to learn how to play. At least twice a week, they pick him up & he goes on a hike or to a class. You have never seen a happier pup than when he realizes where he is going. He practically runs to the van & doesn't look back. When they drop him off, he sits at the gate, wanting to leave with them & clearly would if I let him. My theory is that because I'm not with him, he has the opportunity to not worry about me & just be a dog. All the feedback about his behavior with Fitdog has been extremely positive, so I know he's doing well. It doesn't mean that I don't continue to train & work with him, but I've seen a huge difference in his behavior - he hasn't gone after another dog in a week. That may not sound like much, but it's allowed me to relax a little, and worry less. A happy dog makes for a happy owner. While sending Sonny off without me has its positives, there is one negative... because I'm not with him, I can't provide consistency in reinforcing the skills they introduce or use. For instance, one report card said they worked on Touch - which is great because he has been slow with that command. However, I don't know how they were teaching it in order to reinforce it. For instance, I use a closed fist because the open hand means "wait" for him. As a result, I have stopped sending him to some of the classes since I can't reinforce the behavior he learned and I don't want to confuse him. I currently only send him to the more active classes where, for me, it's about him getting some activity in - hiking and agility. He still learns social skills and good behavior. Overall, I can't emphasize enough how great & convenient Fitdog is. I gave 5 stars (versus 4) because ultimately, it's about Sonny's happiness - and he loves them! read more

This review is focused on the training aspect of Fitdog. In short, I was recommended a 10-session package for my dog to work on his ability to focus and calm down in social situations, but didn't see any improvement. Here is how the 10-session package worked: -They assume most dogs coming in have a similar starting point. There aren't too many questions asked to gauge what the dog can already do. For example, my dog doesn't really ever pull (as was confirmed by one of their walkers previously) but they felt the need to re-invent the wheel and spend time training my dog on a gentle leader. -They give all owners the same canned homework assignments, focused on basic obedience, regardless of what you're dog may already know. -Each day they tell you what they worked on. I was informed of sessions where they did indeed take my dog to a busy coffee shop (amazing!) but none of the homework assigned helped me build on this. By the end of the course, my dog was the same dog and I was out $1500. read more

I was so relieved to find this place since I was in town for work. My pup is an only child and her wellbeing is so important to me. Leaving her anywhere and under another's care is extremely hard for me. The entire staff is so wonderful! Kind, friendly and my pup just loved them. For our first time there, they provide you with a tour of the large facility and require a "2 hour" drop off to see if your pup will do well with others. They do charge $20 for the drop-off assessment but if your pup does well, they can stay and play the rest of the day. I called after 2 hours to check on how my pup was doing. They said that she was getting comfortable and warming up to the scene. I elected to have her continue to get used to the environment and I picked her up at closing time. Upon check out, they have a digital report card along with several cute pics of your pup at play. They even tell you who your pup's friends were that day. My pup was there most of the week and each time at pick up, she was so happy and during drop offs I could see how excited she was to see the staff. I highly recommend this place! read more

My experience at fit dog has been brief so far (8 months) but we've done it all. Nugget has attended training with Sylvia and her wonderful team, day care with the most caring staff, enrichment and obedience classes, overnight stays, and grooming with their grooming staff. Every experience I've had here has been nothing but positive. Upon starting training and day care, my dog had severe separation anxiety, she refused to get out of the car and would not walk back on her own. Now she barks at me if I don't open the door fast enough and runs in to greet her favorite team leaders. Fitdog is the ONLY place I would trust with my baby. My rescue is terrified of people, and obviously doesn't like being away from home, like any dog. But some how, some way, Fitdog was able to bring her out of her shell while we were away for the weekend. AND we were able to capture the entire time on camera. The cameras ran for over 12 hours on the weekends, which established a huge sense of security, because I knew she was being taken care of and watched carefully. My dog wouldn't just go up to a stranger to give kisses, but she gave kisses to the caretakers. And that alone gave Fitdog my repeat business. They fed her regularly, and let me know if or when she ever didn't finish her food, which is a huge sense of security for us. Let me cut to the nitty gritty about 4 stars instead of 5: - Price stings more than at other daycares - No webcam to watch your pup playing I took my 7 month old golden retriever here for an emergency interview this week since we realized our schedules wouldn't get him enough time out of the crate. Andrea, the co-founder, was super sweet as we gabbed about dogs and their wacky personalities while Becker was being introduced to another golden puppy the same age. The process is fairly painless, barring your dog is well socialized, and I felt comfortable leaving him there for not only the 2 hours for evaluation, but for the remainder of the day so he could romp. As others have mentioned, because the facility is really new everything is nice and clean. I don't mind not being able to see my dog over the fenced in area because they're there to play with each other, but I do wish I could watch him on the webcam. Perhaps not because I don't trust he's having a blast, but because I'm snoopy like that. (No pun intended...) Their small retail space proved the perfect save-a-stop for me to grab pick-up bag refills without a HUGE markup. A small bonus during those single parent stretches! Becker has been completely exhausted every day he's come home. He's smelled only like dog, as expected, which I also appreciated. He is excited before we turn onto Fitdog's street and can hardly contain himself when we get to the lobby. The staff knows him by name and gives him lots of love when they take him back. They have a webcam for the daycare area and I get to see my puppy run around and have fun, and the staff always pets the dogs and clearly love them. There is always a staff member with the dogs which is awesome. They also send you a daily report card with boarding and training which is such a nice touch. The first day I dropped My dog off for training, there was a strong urine odor from the parking lot and it only got worse as I walked into the facility. Because of the odor, I was concerned for the sanitation of the facility and felt hesitant to leave her there. When I went to pick her up, the front desk could not locate my dog and they came back out to ask me what my puppy looked like. They finally found her and it made me wonder if My dog was even trained that day. When I logged into her account it only said she had first day jitters and that she was getting use to her new environment. I wish the trainer would have suggested that I bring her in for a daycare session prior to training so it was an environment she was somewhat familiar with and the first training session could have been more productive. After I picked her up from her second training I noticed a sign at the front desk about Kennel cough. I asked the front desk if there were any recent incidents of kennel cough and only at that time was I informed that there was. Again, this is information that I wish I was told before taking her to training as I definitely would not have enrolled her if the facility had recent cases. My dog did in fact catch kennel cough and is currently on antibiotics. Aside from sanitation concerns my dog also picked up on bad habits like barking. I will not be taking my dog back to Fitdog. read more

Plenty of other better places in LA. They never sent me my welcome email with instructions, so I went there for a walk through and was told by an extremely rude employee that I needed to complete my profile. I come in the next day, turns out they had send me the "sports" profile by accident, because a dog profile needs separate ones for sports apparently. So, because I didn't receive their correct welcome letter which is their fault, I was unaware my dogs needed a vaccination not recommended by vets. The again rude employee at the front told me "i said you needed the canine vaccine yesterday". Mind you, after the previous day I drove one hour to go to the vet to make sure my dogs were vaccinated. The vet assured me they were up to date. I sent my email with all of their vaccines. Now, how am I supposed to realize that a "canine" vaccine is an influenza vaccine that only 20% of dogs receive per my vet? Dogs are canines lol sorry you were not clear and hence caused a second mishap. Not once was this employee empathetic or apologetic. I've read this place is stuck up and that's 100% true but for no good reason. Does not meet the standards. Don't waste your time, money, or energy. There are places in LA that are just as expensive but ACTUALLY worth the price :) read more

I am so grateful for Fitdog. They have helped me with my pup from practically day one. The staff there are friendly, kind, knowledgeable and reliable. I know that she is so loved and I feel completely satisfied when I leave that she is going to have the best day, be cared for, safe and happy when she comes home. As soon as we pull up, Nellie starts wagging her tail and almost doesn't give me a second thought as she makes a beeline for the yard! I LOVE getting her daily report cards with photos of her from her day and looking for her and her friends on the webcam. :) Nellie recently completed the Fitdog foundation obedience course and the difference is immeasurable. Each time she came back from her sessions, I could see a much improved and more attentive Nellie. Each day, our pup comes home more confident, well-mannered, and tuckered out from a great day of playing with his peers and training with Sylvia.  Sylvia is a master puppy trainer - our little pup loves Sylvia and rushes to her every chance he gets! In addition to teaching basic commands in puppy preschool, Sylvia has taught our pup how to play appropriately, sit politely when he wants something and remain unfazed when the vacuum is on or fireworks are going off.  Sylvia has also given us (the humans) tips to keep our pup a routine on the days he is not at FitDog (which has worked wonders for my work-from-home schedule). She also makes herself available via text or calls when I have questions - an incredible resource for this first time puppy parent. Now that our pup is old enough for daycare too, my extended family can hop on the webcams and get to know our little guy even more.  They have remarked at how impressive it is that all of the dogs all seem to play nicely with each other.  I think it goes back to FitDog's commitment to creating a safe, happy environment for the dogs who are part of the day care program and prioritizing what's best for the dogs.   I would be remiss if I didn't also mention Jessica, the Manager at FitDog. Fitdog sports club is amazing! Their staff genuinely cares about pets and go the extra mile to make sure they get a lot of attention and care. My wife and I have used fitdog several times to board our dogs and have been extremely satisfied every time. The facility is extremely clean and they are transparent with their care. I really appreciate the dog webcam that we use to check in on our dog in the play area. Our dog Roxanne recently had an exacerbation of a chronic medical condition while we were away on vacation. It was stressful to be far away while all of this was happening but the staff kept us constantly informed and took the appropriate actions in taking Roxanne to the hospital and her care afterwards once she returned to fitdog. The fit dog staff took amazing care of Roxanne and we are so thankful. She even looked great when we returned after her exit bath and haircut. Recently brought my dog here for an assessment/screening. Bad vibe from the get-go; I arrived slightly early, and upon entering, I was greeted by a staff member at the register who relayed, in nothing less than a passive-aggressive way, dissatisfaction for our early arrival. Honestly, he seemed in a generally disgruntled mood. The worse part of it came when I got a phone call an hour after dropping my dog off, from the so-called "assistant manager," by the name of Lucy (heads up for her), to inform me, in a very blunt, uncaring way, that my dog "did not pass," he was reportedly "chewing other dog's faces" and had to be placed in one of their crates. Yes, this was her exact wording. Not only is this far from the truth, but even if it was close to it, is this how you would expect an employee at a so-called professionally run daycare to be interacting with clientele? Upon picking up my dog, I encountered this Lucy person there, and she had nothing more to add to her earlier harsh commentary; she brought out my dog and quickly handed him back to me. There was no "you can bring him back and we can try again," or even offering the option to peruse their daycare services anyway albeit not with the other dogs. Her manner was very dry, cold, and unprofessional, other than her report being cruelly exaggerated. Yes, my dog may like to play a little rough but he is NOT aggressive; which is what she implied. Clearly, this is not the place to consider for daycare/bring your dog if you are looking for genuinely caring staff who are also willing to attend to dogs who have some doggie energy to let loose. read more

I am not one to usually write reviews but I honestly love fitdog. I spent SO much time looking for a daycare place because let's face it, I am a bit of a helicopter puppy parent and I trust them entirely. I brought my golden retriever as a puppy and it changed my life. The staff is incredibly nice and trustworthy and treat the dogs with kindness. Jessica, the manager, has been widely helpful and has also been really respectful of my crazy covid protocols I asked for a contactless experience. I did training for my puppy with Sylvia which was really great and she came back better each day/week. I went from a lazy golden retriever who hates walk to actually being able to take her on walks - that took a lot of hard work as no one in my circle was able to get my dog to walk but sylvia made it happen. My dog absolutely loves going there to the point she runs there when we get out of the car. I don't even live close to fitdog but i genuinely could not find a place i liked elsewhere so to me, it is 100% worth the drive and gives me such peace of mind during my busy workdays to know that my dog is in such good hands. Finally, they have really cool classes and activities for your dog once they get older - swimming, recall etc and i plan on having my dog luna do more of those as her age permits. Finally, they do a better job at trimming my puppies nails than any other place so that is another added benefit which removes an additional trip for me! Basically, all good things starting from daycare to training, to the people who really care and take care and not to mention the awesome report cards that you get at the end of the day.
