5 Stars for my fave yoga studio's new College Park location (shared space with Flow Haus)…read more I've loved Firefly Yoga Company since they had their Orlando location (where Deli Desires is now) and have been missing a close location for years. I would occasionally make my way to their original Ocoee/Winter Garden location, but the truth is I needed a closer studio... SO, I was thrilled to hear that Firefly had made its way back to Orlando with a shared yoga space with Flow Haus. The space is brand new, bright and beautiful, AND it includes a parking lot! (Which is CLUTCH on Edgewater Dr) I've now been to two classes taught by different teachers and they have reminded me why Firefly is a special yoga family with a community that is warm, quick to laughter and play, and welcoming. Things I love: - A props room filled with bolsters, mats, wedges, towels, etc. All new and neatly arranged. - Two, individual bathrooms. This comes in handy right before and right after a class. No need to wait in line to empty your bladder before class! Plus, they're super clean, so you can change in there too. - One, large, bright space. Your girl loves an open-plan concept. - The people. Wow- this is a welcoming and positive community. Truly feeling lucky to have found such a great space for my flows! Remember- they occupy the space on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. You can check the linked website for exact schedules on those days. Can't wait to keep enjoying this positive yoga space! (Which is woman-owned!)

I…read morefinally have a regular schedule with Nick, but I started out going to random sessions throughout the week, based on my schedule abs his availability. I always found him to be very flexible with me. The sessions don't come cheap, but hey, you get what you pay for. That's a common theme in life. Don't forget it. Nick monitors my progress but is also very open when it comes to movements and weights. Some days I have knee pain, some days I don't. If the weight looks easy, he will increase the reps or the weight. Sometimes I am the one who says I can do more weight, and he increases it. Sometimes I am tired and sore and he asks me how I'm doing/feeling and makes adjustments based on that. I've never been injured working with Nick. He watches my movements and corrects me as needed. He asks me if and what I've trained outside of the gym so he can tailor my workout to areas I've missed. I enjoy conversing with Nick as I train. The studio is private, so my sessions are always one on one, but the gym is a membership only place, so occasionally there are other people working out. The personal training clients get first dibs on the equipment when with Nick, but there is enough stuff and space that we are never negotiating with other people. He moved to a new gym space recently and it's more spacious than the prior spot. He also has gathered more equipment. Parking is way better now too and there are separate male and female bathrooms. I'd say the new place is a major upgrade. I only do the personal training. So while I can't speak for the gym membership, what I know is- the price is reasonable, you get 24 hour access with scheduled appointment (so the gym isn't overbooked) and there are security cameras for your safety. Check his page on IG for more info, @theweighthouse and his website theweighthouse.com as well. He also has some fantastic merch for sale.

This is the gym for you- the community is supportive, complimenting your fit, giving you the latest bar/restaurant review on the daily or offering friendly Wordle competition. The equipment here is top-notch, and the members are super friendly (except for that one girl who's always in the way with her jump rope - jk that's me.) I never knew working out could be so entertaining. The members are like a cast of characters straight out of a sitcom. There's the guy who grunts so loudly you'd think he's summoning a demon, and the woman who is always in a matching sports bra and legging set (seriously, how does she do it that early in the morning?), the girl with head phones in, but is always listening and our beloved neat freak keeping us all in check when we didn't re-rack our weights that one time. No matter who you encounter, you're sure to have a good time. If you're ready to be prepared to laugh so hard you might accidentally drop a weight on your foot - join us. Good thing there's a strict shoe wearing policy...

Regardless of whether he is leading the kids class or working with the adults in the later session, you can see Miguel's passion emanating clearly. He has a very calm demeanor that instills confidence in others. While this academy is focused on teaching you all the jiu jitsu techniques and fundamentals, the school is also focused on guiding you through the mindful aspect of the sport and working through the calm amongst the chaos. This isn't just focused on rolling, takedowns, and submissions, but rather a lifestyle to help folks leave stronger and more confident in theirselves both physically and mentally. Looking forward to seeing this academy's continued growth under Miguel's guidance!

Miguel, the owner does an amazing job to ensure that the entire school is spotless. This is the first thing that showed me how passionate Miguel is about his business and for the art of jujitsu. After my first few classes, I really was able to see how passionate and knowledgeable Miguel was on all things jujitsu. At my day job I work in corporate training and to see how well Miguel is able to articulate WHAT he's doing, WHY he's doing it, then switch to real life examples, and analogies, to ensure everyone in the class is on the same page is awesome! The last thing I love about Gracie Jujitsu College Park Orlando, and Miguel, is his level of care to every student. Wether it's their jujitsu knowledge, level of fitness, or their body. I'm a little older than some of the students and Miguel is always quick to point out modifications that I could do to keep me safe and ensure that all of the other students are safe, when rolling at his school. I've been to other jujitsu spots in the past where they try to "beat you up" or prove how tough their students are, but this was the opposite at Gracie Jujitsu College Park Orlando. Miguel does an amazing job of ensuring everyone in each of the classes is safe and has a good rolling partner to come back to the next day. If you've ever had an interest in jujitsu, self-defense, or just looking for a new cardio exercise, I encourage you to give Gracie Jujitsu College Park Orlando a try!
