Forge Physical Therapy: They Got My Groove Back!…read more After having a hip replacement on June 15, I knew physical therapy was going to be a big part of getting back to my normal self. What I didn't expect was to actually LOVE going to physical therapy! I went to Forge Physical Therapy in Frisco 2-3 times a week for about two months, and I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. From day one, I felt like I was part of the Forge family. Dr. Spencer is absolutely fantastic. He is incredibly knowledgeable and seemed to know exactly what I needed--even when I wasn't entirely sure what I needed myself! He pushed me, encouraged me, and helped me rebuild my strength and confidence after surgery. Most importantly, he knew how to help me get my groove back! And believe me, after a hip replacement, getting your groove back is no small accomplishment! And then there is Ms. Linda--aka "The Colonel." What can I say about The Colonel? She was so incredibly sweet, caring, encouraging, and just genuinely happy to see me every time I walked in. She made every visit feel a little more like visiting friends than going to PT. In fact, I have NEVER felt so much love and genuine care in a physical therapy office. These people went from being my physical therapists to feeling like family. And somehow, I actually looked forward to seeing them 2-3 times a week--which is pretty impressive considering I was there because I had just had my hip replaced! Forge is a newer PT location, and Frisco is SO lucky to have them. If you need physical therapy, I cannot recommend this team enough. They have the knowledge, expertise, encouragement, and--most importantly--the HEART. Thank you, Dr. Spencer, Ms. Linda/The Colonel, and the entire Forge team for taking such great care of me and helping me get back to doing the things I love. I came in with a new hip and left with a stronger body, a lot more confidence, and a whole new group of people I now consider friends/family. Five stars doesn't even seem like enough! And yes... I actually miss going to PT. Who says that?!

Patient, and attentive to the needs of their clients. On my first visit, Steve mapped out my recommended therapy treatment. Iden followed the treatment plan. Everyone was extremely friendly, courteous, and always keeping an eye to ensure I did not fall over doing balance exercise/s. I walked in with a stiff knee joint, to walk out after 3 months with minor knee stiffness. Iden's recommendation for at home therapy included a plan that will enable me to continue my progression and leaving me with a sense of accomplishment towards my betterment. Isha managed the check-ins, appointments, and general needs of the location, and was very friendly and courteous (in person and over the phone). The facility was clean; there was always someone ensuring pillow covers were changed and tables wiped down after a client finished. The location in Frisco is close to Stonebriar Mall and SRT 121, making it convenient, with ample parking spaces. They recently opened a new location in Dallas near the High 5 interchanges of Hwy 75. I cannot provide more comments on this location, as I have not been there. Bottom Line: This facility is SPOT ON!

My first appointment seemed fine. I had a general examination, and I explained why I was there in…read morethe first place, blah blah blah. One of the therapists came and grabbed me and helped to teach me a few exercises I would be doing. The doctor insisted on 2 sessions a week, which seemed a bit much to me, but I'm no doctor. Once done with my appointment, I scheduled my next few appointments. One of those appointments was today. I arrived on time and was promptly brought back to start my therapy. I was doing the same exercises I had done last time, so I was familiar with how to do them. I was handed a timer and told what to do and for how long. Once completed, I looked around but did not see my therapist, so I just sat there, just kinda looking around for her. I noticed there were two groups of therapists all speaking a different language, laughing, and seemed to be having a good time. I couldn't get anyone's attention despite calling out to the two groups, so I just sat there and waited for someone to check on me or see me. Despite being the only patient and in the center of the room, no one noticed. After a couple of minutes, one of the male therapists noticed me and seemed to ask the group who I belonged to? I don't know for sure because I could not understand them. My therapist looked at me and hollered instructions to me from across the room. I knew what she meant because I had done it once before. I proceeded to do the exercise. The entire time, people were running around me, talking about whatever they were talking about, and I started to get upset. At some point during one of the exercises, my therapist kind of just disappeared, and another man I had never met started having me do an exercise I had already done. He was explaining how to properly do it until I asked him if I should be doing it again. He said no, took the belt away, and went to the back to grab something. Honestly, I don't think he knew what I should be doing because he took a couple of minutes just fumbling around, looking, and grabbing at different things. He came back with a band and showed me what he wanted me to do. I had a feeling he just made it up, but I didn't know for sure. He then asked me how much pain I was in, referring to my knee. I told him that I wasn't there for knee pain and was a bit confused as to what my treatment plan was for treating my akathisia. He didn't know what that meant, but instead of asking me what it was, he left me with the timer, told me how long I needed to do the exercise. He then walked away. Again, I finished my exercise, and no one was there. There were just a bunch of therapists (I'm assuming that's what they were) having a good ol' time talking and hanging out in the closet and back of the room. I couldn't get anyone to help me. No one seemed to know why I was there, and no one seemed to care. I literally just got up, grabbed my shoes, hat, and sweatshirt, walked to the front, put my shoes on, and walked out the front door. I left this place feeling a mixture of awkward, confused, and kinda pissed. I called and cancelled the appointments I already had on the books and told them that I would not be returning. If you want to make actual progress regarding your health, I would steer clear of this place. I found everyone rude, dismissive, uninformed, and extremely unprofessional. Except for the receptionist. She was very kind and accommodating.

The interaction left me so distressed that I had a panic attack right after leaving the clinic. During my consultation, the therapist recommended starting a 4-6 week treatment plan and knew that I would be leaving the state after October. However, when I went to schedule, the front desk told me the first available appointment was October 28, five weeks away. We simply asked to briefly clarify this obvious miscommunication with the therapist. Instead of helping, the front desk staff became rude and confrontational, accused us of being "disrespectful" to another patient, and refused to let us speak with the therapist. We had no intention of interrupting anyone--we were simply trying to clarify what we had just been told during my consultation. This is especially unacceptable for a pelvic floor clinic serving postpartum women, who may already be physically and emotionally vulnerable or experiencing postpartum depression. Compassion, patience, and respectful communication should be the bare minimum. If you are postpartum and looking for a supportive environment where you can focus on your recovery and well-being, I strongly recommend staying away from this place. No one seeking postpartum care should leave feeling worse than when they walked in.
