Still and awesome place in a great location. Friendly staff and incredible selection. I don't go there often but they have improved and added a lot since the last time I visited, thus 5-stars now. They also have a nice lottery set up but it's not sketchy and in the way of things. They can usually grab you a ticket or two while you're fiddling with your debit card purchase. They also have a huge deli with seating. I'm sure they do nice tastings too. It's rare to find a store with a large selection of Prosecco as they do here. The only other in the area I know of is Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits - the best place of course. But Fishpaw's had at least 10 varieties from very good to good. Be careful leaving the parking lot though! Lots of fast cars driving by on both sides. read more

I have enjoyed shopping at Fishpaw's for wine, cheeses, and baguettes for the last five years. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience and will no longer shop there. I mistakenly bought crème fresh instead of a soft cheese and attempted to swap out the crème fresh for my intended item. I was told I was out of luck, and couldn't be helped. Sorry, Fishpaw's, this is not good customer service. Everyone makes a mistake sometimes! I'll be shopping elsewhere. read more

This is a fantastic market for spirits, beer, wine and all of those wonderful adult beverages one may find themselves craving. I can literally spend a good chunk of my day just perusing through their aisles, the refrigerator and shelves. They carry a wonderful array of selections. There is something for everyone here, whether you're a beer lover, wine snob, ciders and "girly" drinks (that's me). Their selection of beers and flavored ciders are incredible! They have stuff I've never even heard of, with wonderful little cards describing the flavor and origins. The parking is ample. There is even a wine tasting bar! The store is laid out well, so finding items is really easy, staff is really helpful. I always end up buying a bunch of different items just to try. It's a bit dangerous.. Nice layout at a convenient location. Of course, beware when standing in the line to pay for your treasures. There are even MORE items to tempt you, like chocolates, snacks and chips.. We aren't usually in this area, and when we are, it's usually with the kiddos. But as soon as I saw Fishpaws, as we were driving home from our date day, I knew we needed to swing by. They have an amazing selection for sure. Our local place has my heart, but it's always fun to check out what other places have to offer. Fishpaws has a cool vibe to it, and a ton of selection. The mix and match refrigerated section isn't large but it's got a fun mix of options. We opted for a few 4/6 packs instead. The last time we were here we got one of our all time fav beers, I Love Lamp, so we opted to get another Evil Genius beer. They also had Other Half, which is always yummy. Great selection. Lots of choices. Cool set up. They also have gourmet cheeses. They used to have sandwiches, but that looks like that isn't around right now. read more

Just really poor service overall. Was just picking up beer and was carded. No big deal I know and understand the law and why they do it. Wife was not handling beer at all. Just me. I was carded and the cash register didn't even look at my ID and asked for hers. Ok. So we went outside to get her ID and she went back in to pay for the beer and then the clerk said he needed to see my ID again when I am in the car at this point. What planet are we on? Plus, I literally see people in there with their children everyday. And I never get carded normally anyway cuz I'm old. I probably spend thousands here per year. Welcome to the land of great beer, wine, cheese and more. A great growler bar with typically fantastic beers on tap (with flights available for in house try's) a wine pour station, a good selection of liquors, great beers in can and bottle and all of it high class. The staff is top notch and super knowledgeable and helpful. The only downside, don't plan on just getting just one thing, invariably, you'll find the 5 other things you knew (and sometimes never knew) you desperately needed. Worth every penny though, can't recommend enough. read more

Great selection of beers and they stay on top of expiration dates, which is more than you can say about Dawson's down the road, where the amount of old (overpriced) beer on the shelves is insane. Very good selection at the growler station and they offer flights (including spirits) at the tasting bar, Pricing is good here as well. The spirits selection is top-notch and, again, prices are very fair. Check out the barrel pick Bourbons, which are outstanding. If you want a good breakfast sandwich, you can get it here but thats about it. They have a decent beer/wine selcetion but in my opinion its over priced. I have never been pleased with anything I've ordered from the deli (w/ the exception of breakfast). Most of the sandwiches are $8 or more. Yesterday I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on special for &7 and the chicken was rotten. I have also ordered subs here in the past and my lettuce, avacado or tomato have been brown. I guess I have gone back so many times because it is convenient and on my way to work. But I can safely say I will not be going back here for lunch again. read more

I wish there was a higher rating then 5 as Fishpaws deserves it for sure!!! When I first started shopping here we would order lunches and grab beers for a fun afternoon on the water. When I learned that they were closing the deli and replacing it with a beer filling station I thought "uh oh this will be like when Fonzi tried to jump over the shark tank and would be the end of Fishpaws. Not a chance, it was more like when the seamless transfer from the passing of Henry Blake to Sherman T Potter! The staff is beyond knowledgeable in their spirits, have a bench that Johnstown Jets hockey team would be jealous of in that if someone on the floor does not have the answer another team member can jump in and help out! On several occasions I have been looking for something specific which I have not been able to find only to be introduced to another option that would far surpass the intended purchase and usually at a similar or more favorable price point. My only complaint is no Norbecker beer available, though I don't think it was ever real ... I am sure if it is, they will have it in soon after reading this note as they are willing to order most things that you can think of if they don't have it in stock and it can be accessed through their distributors. Be sure to try some of their private label bourbons and whiskeys as they are exceptional! read more

I love this place. The subs and sandwhiches are good, they use Boar's Head meat so you would have to try pretty hard to make them bad. They just added this HOT FOOD Bar and their Chickens Are AMAZING! The Mac and Cheese is pretty darn tasty as well. I am not a fan of green beans typically but maybe that is your thing. Besides the food the selection of wine Beer and liquor is pretty great for this area to boot. The staff is helpful and loads my car for me everytime I shop here, which is particularly useful as I have a bad back. I have been coming here for years and will come here for as long as I live in a 30 mile radius. P.S. this is a 4 star review because lets face it, there is always room for improvement. read more

I really love this place. The prices are the best in the area and you can practically get everything here! Snacks, booze, fresh bread!? I usually hit up this place in a morning before traveling to a concert or something and pick up some cheese & crackers ,beer and some breakfast sandwiches! (what can I say, I'm a classy lady.) Bad experience tonight. Went in with my brother who has a PA license and they refused to sell him any liquor even though he's 22 with valid drivers license. They refused to give an explanation why and wouldn't let me buy anything either because we were in the same party. Isn't it illegal or something to refuse service without rationale? His license isn't expired, he has credit adds to show further proof of ID, and we had just gotten back from dinner, hadn't been drinking.... I won't be returning here. Hate to say this, because I love to support local, independent businesses, but this place is creepy, at best. I hate to go into a business and feel like I'm being leered at/judged by the older male employees, but at this place, it has happened continually. I have been either hounded relentlessly or stared at awkwardly every time I have dropped in, and I KNOW I've overheard several male employees discussing the appearance of a fellow female customer. The selection is just okay. Dawson's is much better, and the staff more helpful. I have also noticed a slight difference in price, and the beer section is organized in (seemingly) the most confusing manner possible. I'LL NEVER BE BACK. I used to go here a lot even though it is overpriced because it is close. Good but expensive selection. I probably spent over $3000 per year here. Went in there on day and forgot to bring a coupon for 10% off a handle of liquor (we're talking $3-$4 here). I asked the counter person (one of the owner's I think) if i could slide by the coupon deal because I forgot it and this lady knew me from being in there so much. Her response was "Why should I do that?" That's great customer service to someone that spends that much money in there. I'LL NEVER BE BACK. There are a lot ways that circumstance could have been handled, but it was a show of pure money grubbing. I just go to places 5 minutes further away, just as good of a selection and MUCH less expensive. These are the kind of businesses that need to cease to exist in this area, I don't care how much history they have. CHOOSE A DIFFERENT OPTION AND LET THEM LEARN THAT THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THEIR BUSINESS, NOT THEIR WALLETS! read more

Fish Paws has a good selection of beer, wine and liquor, but they are overpriced and getting worse. They keep jacking up the the price for bourbon and putting more and more bottles behind the counter. I'm not sure who in their right mind would pay $99 for a bottle of Blanton's or why in the world Eagle Rare needs to go behind the counter. I'd shop here more often if they sold closer to retail and not secondary prices. read more

Not sure why my review was deleted from the site, but I had two great compliments and thought I would try updating this time. Went to Fishpaws today and the power was out. The employees came to my car before I even parked to let me know. I got to chatting with one of the stock guys, I think his name was Russ, I always see him there, and after a short period of time the power came back on and I was able to do my shopping. I went in looking for some wine to take to Easter dinner and the wine manager, I think his name is Robert, was extremely helpful. I don't know much about wine, and he never made me feel stupid. He asked lots of great questions and I left with two wines, which my friends and I really loved with our dinner. This place is the easiest to get your growler filled and on the inexpensive side. They have a really big selection of beer, wine, and liquor. They also have a wine tasting bar, which looks really neat, but no instructions on how to use it, so we never have, otherwise it would probably get 5 stars. It looks like the place used to have a deli, but there isn't one anymore, which is probably a good move because the growler bar is pretty nice and took over the delis location. Disappointing! We are fairly new to the area and decided to check out Fish Paws last night - $40 mistake. We ordered two deli sandwiches (which were not worth the money - they forgot several ingredients on my sandwich, and I ended up with a bland grilled chicken sandwich with a wilted piece of lettuce.) We also got a dessert box of 3 of their chocolate/cheesecake muffins, also known as rock hard, 3-day old muffins. We never really seek out help from sales associates when shopping,but I did think it was odd that no one offered to help us, or let us know where different things in the store were located, etc. I also had two coupons from Clipper magazine - one for 10% off spirits (which they declined because we had a bottle of wine, fair enough), and another for "buy one hot entree get one 1/2 off (which they also declined claiming that hot sandwiches weren't entrees, even though the coupon doesn't say that.) She was pretty rude about it, and I wasn't in the mood to argue with them over $6, so just put the coupons away. They didn't seem to care about our business, or the quality of their food, so we won't be back. read more

I have been going to this place since I turned 21 last August and have never had issue until tonight when I was accused of using a fake id because the staff didn't know how to properly identify a new Maryland drivers license. I gave them 2 forms of ID along with multiple credit cards with my name on it and still stood me there for over 5 minutes claiming that my ID was fake. I understand being on the cautious side, but this whole ordeal was handled wrong. Really left a bad taste in my mouth. Can't say I'll be coming back here again. read more

I don't understand these negative reviews. I don't go often, maybe two/three times a year or so, but I have never had a negative experience in the 10 years I've been going. There is always an incredible selection with great employees consistently offering friendly assistance.. I've only ordered from the deli twice, and once they even restarted the grill and set the slicer back up for me after cleaning up for the night all because I was pregnant and was craving a cheesesteak. No complaints or even a hint of a negative attitude. Such a great experience! These negative reviews have to be from competitors. I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

The food was just ok if it was even that. It is overpriced and you do not get much for your money. Honestly a Subway sub was better than the one I got at FishPaws. On that note however, the food wasn't the worst part of the experience. The employees are HORRIBLE!! You walk in and no smiles from anyone and they watch you like you are an outsider and not welcome there. They are rude and it was probably the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had at a food/liquor store. I wanted to walk around and see what different items they offer in regards to wine but I just couldn't stand being stared at any longer so I grabbed my food order and left. I will not be going back there! It's a shame too because it looks so inviting from the outside. read more

I love this place for beer, especially american craft beers and there are some gems in the wine department as well. The deli is the only part of this store that is lacking due to the sad sight of the food in their Boston Market type hot food case. They also advertise pre made breakfast sandwiches made daily but the few times I've been there in the morning there were none made. The manager seems miserable and she is always yelling. other than that this place is awesome for propane ice and good beer. read more

I live very close to here and go there pretty often. Probably the best liquor store in the area. Twice a year for a week at a time they have $1 over cost sales on wine and liquor, and the deli is excellent. Best deli in the area, if you haven't tried it its a must. It's a shame that a place so close to my home AND on my daily travel route is somewhere that I won't go to. Yes, it's got a deli and a good selection of wines but the people who work there need a lesson or two on manners. Forget trying to make a customer want to come back, just plain manners would be an improvement. It's obvious that they don't want to be there, it's obvious that they don't want customers there. So, I will drive miles away to spend my money. I was the social chairman for a group so I was buying beer/wine 6,7 times a year in great quantities. Each time it was as if I was doing them a favor y walking in the door. No more, I took my business away from them to someone who wanted it. And, the new chairman does the same. It's a pity since it's convenient but I believe in the free market system and word of mouth prevails. Shape up Fishpaws, the locals don't like your attitude. read more

As far as I am concerned the real Fishpaws closed down when they replaced the original building. Back then it may have been cramped and old but it had massive character. the sandwiches were much better too. We used to have a saying about Fishpaws. "Where else can you buy a bottle of Don Parion(sp) and a box of night-crawlers" or "Fine wine and Live bait". Let me say this again. It HAD massive character. Now it feels like your stopping at 7-11. Actually its not even that good. At least at 7-11 the clerks tend to say hello from time to time and not stare at you like your some sort of shoplifter or something the whole time you are in there. I stopped in the other day for a sandwich and a guy sitting at that wine tasting thing in the center just stared at me constantly the whole time like I was not worthy of being in the place. I was in grubby cloths from working on my car. Back in the day that would strike up a conversation about how the repairs are going not get you the stare down of a lifetime. Everyone that works there seems to have a "We are Fishpaws, and we can do whatever we like" attitude. Of course if it was anything like the real Fishpaws an attitude like that would have never been tolerated from the employees. Another issue is they are way to expensive now. Most everything on the shelf can be found for 1 to 2 bucks cheaper at almost any other store. The only reason I gave it two stars not one is because its location is still extremely convenient. If it wasn't for that I think they would have lost all there business when they renovated. read more

Totally disagree with Hank and Nick's reviews. I've always found the staff extremely pleasant. The times I have been there and needed help to find something, the staff has bent over backwards to help me, including offering to special order a specific wine that I was looking for that they didn't carry. The staff is very knowledgable with food and wine pairings and very willing to help. One visit that stands out for me - I was in the store at closing time on Christmas Eve with a large purchase. Instead of rushing me out to close up shop, the staff member helped me choose the right wine, rung up my purchase, and helped me carry a large box to my car. VERY HELPFUL and APPRECIATED! The food is absolutely amazing! Never had anything bad there! I recommend you ignore Hank and Nick's reviews and try Fishpaws for yourself. I love this store and I know many many people who feel the same way I do! read more
