Seeing Queenscliff Fish and Chip Shop tempted me... and then I saw it - the big "separate gluten-free fryer" sign in the window!! That was enough for me - I was getting fish and chips! It's a cool and casual place - right by the water with plenty of tables and seats inside and out! Service was friendly and informative - they answered my handful of questions confirming that they kept gluten-free items separate... and asking about the different types of fish they offered (there are a handful of options!). We got the gluten-free version of the regular order of Fish and Chips. I added tartar sauce for dipping. Amazing! Spectacular! Just wow! I would order this every day of the week - freaking delicious!! Overall rating: *****FIVE STARS***** Gluten-free rating: *****FIVE STARS*****

We ordered the arancini balls ($16?) and mussels chowder ($12?) but the bowls of mussels looked delicious... I just couldn't commit to a huge bowl in the middle of the day! They even had a mussel stout (beer), which was only ok. We had really come to buy cheap mussels to take home, which turns out to be a whole 6 kg box for $30. She recommended a half to 1 kg per person and we were only 4 so it ended up being a really big meal. They do sell smaller amounts, just at a higher price and they provide you with a styrofoam cooler box to keep them on ice. Nice place and nice customer service!

The parking lot was shared with other shops and got busy at lunchtime. We had to circle around until a spot opened up. The menu was simple: fish, chips and sides. Special were posted separately. We tried the fish grilled and fried. All fish portions were generous in size and filling for the family. The flake and blue grenadier were fried but the batter was airy and light on the outside and moist inside. The tartar sauce, $2 additional, was very tasty. The barramundi was a thinner fish but still delicious grilled. The fries were crisp and plentiful. The owners was very friendly and patient as we took some time to decide. Highly recommend stopping here to get your fish and chips on the GOR.

Our food was hit or miss (Hit = pumpkin, pine nuts and orange salad. I personally found it hilarious as it was edging on offensive when we asked for things like tomato sauce and, God forbid, if they had anything gluten free. It got to the point where the salty service seemed to be part of the schtick in the "where are the hidden cameras" way, but by then I'd had enough beer that I considered it endearing.
