She refuses to give us our deposit back because she said we didn't wash the sheets! We were NEVER told we needed to wash the sheets before we left. Had we been told of that we would have washed the sheets. When we complained that we were unaware of that policy she changed the reason why she would not give us our deposit back and said it was because we entered the rental before 3pm. She was the one who told us to go directly from the Ferry to the rental since no one had rented the house the week before it was ready for us. We didn't care what time we got in and if we had known she was going to charge us over $150.00 for going in a few hours early we never would have done it. Bonnie Rizzo basically stole our money. I believe her keeping our security deposit is illegal but it is not worth hiring a lawyer for a few hundred dollars and she knows it. just be warned...DO NOT RENT FROM BONNIE RIZZO of Maury People Nantucket. We have been renting on Nantucket for over 30 years and never once have we not received our security deposit back. A security deposit is to cover damage or theft caused by the renters and we did neither. Not washing the sheets does not qualify for keeping our deposit. Bonnie Rizzo is a thief and I warn you to stay away from her and this agency that employees her. If I could give zero stars I would.

I had a few minor issues like no propane gas in grill that the office responded to quickly and very professional. We were talking about how excited we where to have a lobsterfest and Susan the owner just so happen to ask me to check to make sure that the house had a lobster pot and crackers which it did not. She said not to worry and went out to a few stores and could not find one since it was 4th of July weekend and were sold out. She was kind enough to bring us her own pot and crackers and I was not only grateful that our family was able to enjoy our lobsterfest but was very impressed that Susan spent hours looking for the pot and that she was kind enough to loan us hers and to check back in with us to see if we needed anything else at least 4 times during our stay. The house, views and area was absolutely beautiful and we have already booked for 2021!

First of all, let me begin by saying this is not airbnb - it's better. It's cheaper than airbnb, and the owner of the rental agency lives nearby, and is able to help you with any questions you may have. The location was amazing for the price that we paid, and the house was spotless with a huge yard. We had such a nice time strolling to the beach or taking a short drive into town. The house was also nice just for hanging around and playing games or whatever. I usually stay in airbnbs when I travel, but this was a nice change -- it felt good to support a local business, which made me feel like I was helping to build the community AND saving money. I would highly recommend The Cape Housing Company for any Cape Cod vacation. You won't regret it!

My family has rented houses on the Cape every summer for many years…read more Usually we rent from families directly but our family has grown out of many of the homes we have rented in the past, so we went through this agency this time. We rented a large house which sleeps 14 people this summer. The first thing was we had to rent the linens separately. OK fair enough-it is extra work and expense to wash those after renters-even though we usually do much of the laundry before we leave a rental anyway...so we get to the house, all 14 of us and there is one roll of toilet paper, and one kitchen hand towel for 14 people-really? When we called the agency, we were told we were to provide all of our own paper goods. OK yeah, its not our first time on the merry go round here-we know we need to go to the store but to not put even a 'starter' roll of toilet paper in each bathroom-come on. That's just cheap. For several thousand dollars a week, you provide a bit of TP and a few creature comforts. There were also not enough waste baskets for the bathrooms and bedrooms. And the kitchen policy was so militant in terms of leaving no food that there were no condiments or olive oils or anything..... Every other place we've rented has had a few nice things left behind so you don't have to get EVERYTHING to stock the kitchen. And we in turn leave things for the next renters. There was a sign on the refrigerator about these policies...it read a bit like a warning for teenagers renting a party house. Then there was the cleaning policy: the cleaning was extra, a lot extra, but did not include the linens or the floors or the stove, ...ok we are also apparently supposed to clean the house too-sweep floors, etc. and pay the fee. There are so many cool places on the Cape, there is no reason to put up with this lack of accommodation for a big expensive rental.

Over the years, we've worked with a couple of different real estate agents but weren't especially happy with them. Last summer, a friend who owns a home on island recommended we contact Laura Belair at Great Point Properties. Laura has been outstanding. She listened carefully to what we were looking for in a rental home and responded quickly with several excellent possibilities. She answered our questions with detailed, thoughtful information and seemed to know each home so well it almost felt like she was in the home at the time. As impressive as she was in helping us select the right property, she's been even better since we arrived on island. Our plane landed mid-morning.She arranged for us to get into the home a little earlier than the standard move-in time. We were greeted with gifts, snacks, and even a bottle of wine -- a thoughtful and generous touch. When we discovered a problem with the cable TV setup, she quickly contacted the homeowner, who was vacationing in Europe, and asked her to submit a request to Comcast. A technician came out shortly thereafter. When we couldn't find one of the cable outlets, Laura recalled that there was a junction box near the floor -- and sure enough, there it was. Her photographic memory saved the day. She also responded immediately when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house -- at 9 o'clock on a Sunday night. She let us know there was a lockbox on the back porch and gave us the combination. Great Point Properties manages over 800 properties. I don't know if Laura knows every square inch of all of them -- but she seems to know this one almost as well as if she lived here herself. Beyond her professionalism, Laura is simply a pleasure to work with -- knowledgeable, enthusiastic, responsive, and completely on top of every detail.
