Chris fit right in with our group of laid back new comers to salt water fishing…read more Our group of 6 was set to go out 10 miles offshore, but the weather was bad and Chris advised that we could go, but no one would have fun with that much pitching up and down. We still had a great time in Sarasota Bay. The group caught about 10 fish per person (catch and release.) I knocked my beer overboard and he had everyone pull their lines up, repositioned the boat, and we picked the can out of the water lest it harm or pollute. That was classy. His boat was decked out with good fish finding equipment. As soon as he saw we were out of a sweet spot, he repositioned the boat and put us back on the fish. We cruised up to Dolphins hunting. At his low prices, and with his boat (fast and decked out) you're insane not to try him. Admittedly, he doesn't have a cabin cruiser type boat, but the point is to fish the waters, not crunch Cheetos in the air conditioning. When you have to pee, just pee off the back (sorry girls - actually, Chris would probably let girls pee off the back of the boat.) We didn't keep any fish, but the processing station back at the dock looked clean and I think Chris would process it for you, or the bait shop would... unsure. Ignore all of the above, and just have fun talking with him...

While in retrospect I would have preferred paying a little bit extra for the deep sea fishing option, we all still had a blast fishing the the bay area and caught some fun fish in the process. The one caveat I'll mention is that Chris is a smoker. If cigarette smoke bothers you excessively, I'd say perhaps consider going elsewhere (and definitely asking the captain of any vessel you intend to charter if they're smokers, too). Also, you should probably pop a Dramamine before going out. Since its a smaller boat (27' or so), those waves can play a number on you. 12 hours later, and I still feel like I'm rocking back and forth...

We went to a sand bar and scooped up live sand dollars (carefully) and a huge whelk and whelk eggs. It was a very different tour than last year, but she was so adaptable and obviously knows the area/ is incredibly knowledgeable about the bay, the homes along the water, and all the animals within. We'll be back with her next year!!!

Our first impression was he was very professional and knows what he is doing when it comes to fishing. He took us fishing for 3/4 days with his clean and spacious fishing boat. We caught lots of snook, trout, and snapper. You can tell he has many years of experience and takes pride in letting his clients have the best experience by watching us cast our lines meticulously. His equipment were first class and the boat was very stable. The weather was not so promising that day but he made sure were safe. Luckily, we were able to get back into land without getting rained on. I want to highlight that he did not try to catch a fish himself that day because he focuses on his clients and coaches them how to be successful. If you're looking for someone who takes fishing seriously and maybe acquire some fishing skills from someone with many years of experience, Captain Shen is the guy you're looking for. On Christmas Day, I headed to Bradenton Beach Pier, basking in the sunshine and breathing in that salty air. The best part was there was hardly any crowds. So parking was easy, stress was nonexistent, and peace and tranquillity were the vibes. The real locals were out in full force, the egrets, and other local birds were checking out the people strolling the pier or fishing. Not much was open because it was Christmas, I'm not added to the charm. It felt peaceful, unhurried, and exactly how I wanted my holiday to be. Spending Christmas here during the off-season was a five star reminder that sometimes quiet is the best gift.
