I booked this charter in order to expose one of my best friends to his first time deep sea fishing. We caught captain Tino shortly after losing his father, Captain Gus, and the founder of the company. If you're allergic to humor, sarcasm, ball busting, and fun... book another tour. If you want an experience you'll remember for the rest of your lives and laugh the entire 10 hour tour while you're reeling in fish left and right, this is your tour. We were crying laughing listening to Captain Tino bust first Mate Neil's balls all day, reminiscing about his father's presence that day ensuring that the fish were biting while listening to great tunes and having a blast. I could not recommend another charter with more passion than this one. Yes, he rode tour ass all day but these two had you fishing properly and catching fish that you would've lost earlier. I felt educated, entertained, and enriched by the trip. THIS IS THE CHARTER YOU WANT TO BOOK. RIP Captain Gus, thank you Tino and Neil! read more

Charter Boat Shark - Our four plus first mate Neil and Captain Tino - Fishing Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

What an awesome day of fishing! Went out for an 8 hour trip and limited out in 5. Five guests on the boat, 20 red Grouper! And that's just what we kept. Had to throw a couple of keepers back at the end as we were limited out. Caught another dozen or so that were too small. Rounded off the catch with 10 red and mango snapper. First Mate Neil was outstanding as a helper and made sure we all caught plenty of fish. He cleaned them at the end and we ate a fraction of them that night. Skipper is a little gruff, but of you can get by that, it could be the best fishing experience ever. read more

Charter Boat Shark - Lots of Grouper! - Fishing Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

I've chartered dozens of fishing boats throughout the Gulf, Atlantic and Pacific oceans and hands down, Shark puts you on more fish than any other. Captain Tino is third generation captain and that shows in his ability in any weather or time of year to get you on the fish and fill the box. Got two full day trips booked with him over the next couple weeks and will report back on the carnage! read more

My fiancé , soon to be father in law, and I took a charter today from 6:45 am until 3pm. I have gone on a charter before in the keys but the knowledge of the captain and deck mate - Neil was outstanding. We caught 61 fish not even counting ones that weren't legal. They clean them for you and package the fish for you. Great and clean boat, played tunes, drank beer, and caught a crap ton of keepers. You are missing out if you go on another charter besides the Shark, read more

We decided to go on a family fishing trip on this charter. They never told us the amount of people allowed so we 7 of us showed up in the am they told us it was only 6. My mother wasn't going to fish just chill, and my small kids either but still I had to send my niece home with my mom cause mom can't drive so somebody had to drive her. That was the first bad impression. Then the captain was so so rude, he was mad, didn't even say hi and was fighting with the guy that did everything in the boat. Neil was amazing and help us so much but the attitude the captain had was so bad that it really ruined this experience. After paying $1200 you would think you will get better customer service but this captain definitely needs to change jobs cause he fought all the time, and screamed at Neil constantly and never moved a finger. This is my last trip with them even though the fishing was amazing, customer service is everything and when you are paying so much you expect at least some respect. read more

We had a scheduled trip with another charter. We were informed upon arrival at the marina that the boat we were scheduled to charter was out of commission. Shark's Captain Gus and Mate, Neil, stepped up immediately and made accommodations for us and took us out. The crew was incredibly kind and gracious for us on this very last minute charter. We had such a great day and Shark charters was truly awesome! I recommend them without a doubt. When we're back in the area, we will definitely schedule directly with them to charter a day trip out to fish! read more

If you want to spend your day off feeling like you never left the office with grumpiness, attitude, and overall inconsideration that you are the "customer" well this is just the boat for you! Have given this boat many tries over the years and as an avid fisherman who has been on charters throughout US, this boat is a down-right disappointment. Yeah you will catch fish, but you will catch more negativity than your precious dollars spent--that is for sure! Will not recommend them to anyone. Young or old, active duty/retired military--doesn't seem to make any difference in terms of experience. read more

6 hour trip booked with a different charter company. that company boat broke down and the transferred us to this place. They took us out an hour and a half. Than started fishing as soon as lines were in the water 3 fish on 3 of us reeling in. Stayed out 3 hours and average a fish on every 9 and 1/2 minutes. Great day actually great three hours. Than we had to head back. The 1 hr and 1/2 trip back didn't seem long at all as we talked about our catch. The problem was the first mate hung out with the captain on the way out and back. Snacked on things he brought for the trip. Never really socializing or giving tips on what to do and not to do. Once back the captain cleaned our fish, yes the captain. Usually the mate does the cleaning. So I went to look for him and he was hanging out on the boat. Anyways I gave him a $120.00 tip for his three hours of work. After all he spent three hours basically on a boat ride talking with the captain. Plus not cleaning the take that day. I thought 120 was fair for three hours of work. Not the mate he complained and demanded 20% of the $900.00 it cost for the charter for 6 hours. He got hateful and I explained that 3 hours of work at $60 dollars an hour is pretty good money. He continued to argue about the tip to where I was just like sorry man I'm not giving you $180.00 and walked away. I walked up to my buddies where the captain was cleaning the fish and told them I'd see them at the car that the mate was beginning to piss me the hell off over the tip. The mate went up to them and demanded they fork over $60.00 to make the tip 20% of the $900.00. My friend reached into their pockets and gave it to him to avoid conflict. I got out of the car and luckily for the mate I was convinced to let it go. He got what he deserved and worked for as a tip from me $120.0 he didn't deserve more. A tip is based on what a customer thinks your worth there buddy not what the hell you think your worth. I'm there renting charters all the time and he basically lost this company a customer. I won't be back, don't care how much fish I caught with them (19 total in 3 hours one got off I count those in figuring average out just what I do). So the mate caused a three star rating. I want to give the company 1 star but why hold the charter completely responsible for this Daryl lick. The mate is pictured here so you can watch your pockets. read more

The absolute best time ever! My family and I (Husband and 3 boys) went out with Captain Tino and First Mate Neal. Both very attentive to our needs. We caught a boat load of fish! (No pun intended) Trip of a lifetime. Incredible experience and definitely something to write home about! They provide a unique experience. We will be scheduling again. read more

March 18,2019 Charter Boat Shark We scheduled a 20 mile offshore fishing charter. The First Mate, Neil, was top notch from the moment we arrived. He was polite, friendly, professional and knowledgeable, just flawless. Captain Tino will put you on fish and fish and fish but was unfriendly, rude and mean to the first mate. At one time, he entered the cabin and did not even speak to us. We are all in customer service careers; police officer, postal worker, supervisor county government and self- employed and could not believe his behavior. He had no people skills for someone who is in the business of serving customers. Gus, Captain Tino's father, collected the money before we left. There was confusion about the total amount of money given to him but when he recounted, the amount was correct. When the trip was over, back at the dock, the first mate started to filet the caught fish. However, Gus told him to stop because the next charter was ready. The fish was not completely cleaned. Gus was also rude and unpleasant. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! The shark website states all types of fish to catch and the cost of the trip included cleaned filleted fish. We paid for the service. Gus, the unfilleted fish was boney and unpleasant to enjoy. Customer service: NONE Gus and Capt. Tino made the trip uneasy with their treatment of the first mate Neil. Thanks again Neil, we truly enjoyed your hard work and pleasant nature. May the seas always be calm in your walk of life. read more

Again we went fishing on the Shark and again we had a great time. Waters a little choppy, but that did not keep us from catching an enormous amount of fish. We always go out on the Shark whenever we come to Sarasota and would not go with anyone else. Neil, the first mate, deserves all the credit for making sure we accomplished what we set out to do - catch fish and have fun. Thanks for everything. read more

Charter Boat Shark - We caught all this fish 10/18/15 and had a wonderful time doing it! Can't wait until next time. - Fishing Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

Very bad charter wouldn't recommend it to anyone. First time on a private charter boat with a party of 6. That hole time on the trip all we could smell was Diesel engines! That's very unpleasant. The captain was very grumpy and wasn't very courteous. The only good thing was the mate very nice very friendly guy. That's the only positive thing about the charter. Also we got to spot where all we caught was small fish that we couldn't keep! We must have caught seven groupers and only kept one! And about six snappers. read more

Captain Gus was an amazing skipper, and the first mate was great! Highly recommend them for future charters!

Don't take this charter!!! My husband and I have been on many charter fishing trips and this was the worst. We booked on a Tuesday when the winds were high for a charter on Friday. We were told if the seas were higher than 3 foot we would not go and he would call us. No call so we figured it was ok. There were six of us. We stopped twice to catch bait fish and got about about 8. The charter we took the week before we must have had 50. We get out of the bay and the seas were 6 foot swells. We couldn't even stand up. We got to the spot and fished a bit and they never turned off the engines. We smelled diesel fuel all day. They said if they turned them off there was a chance they would not start. Two guys were sick for 5 hours. Didn't even fish. Got back to the marina with one grouper and a few snapper and Gus asked how it was and I said it was miserable. He acted like he didn't even care. He said why didn't you come in I would have refunded your money? Right. I have never paid up front for a charter and this time we did. Now I know why. Worst fishing trip of my life. read more

Captain Gus and first mate Neal were friendly and fun and filled our fridge with kingfish (we caught 8). We had 2 kids (ages 11 and 6) and 1 elderly grandpa (aged 80) and they were very accommodating to both ends of the spectrum. Great day in the gulf! read more

First off I know the other reviews have been negative but that's the nice thing about things like this, everyone has a different experience. I must say I had the BEST time!!! I have fished all my life but this was my first deep sea experience and I have been talking about it all day!!! Captain John and Al were absolutely wonderful!!! We rode out a ways, caught some bait (which was fun because you caught a lot of little fish fast) then we went out to sea. We found a great spot and within seconds of dropping my line I caught a fish and continued to do so every time I dropped my line. I caught 8 fish back to back and six of them were caught with the same piece of bait!!! The joke on the boat was that it was my lucky bait!!! We fished for about 2 hours and everyone was pulling fish in the whole time. Not all were keepers but that's how it goes. The best part for me was on the way back I had asked the captain if we would see any dolphins and he said possibly. Then sure enough he spotted some and went out of his way to drive the boat in their direction and we spent about 15 minutes in the middle of a pod of about 200 dolphins. They were swimming and jumping all around us (there were the cutest baby dolphins everywhere!!!). It was amazing. We got back to the dock, Al cleaned our fish and we walked around the corner to O'Leary's Tiki bar and they cooked them for us only $8 per person!!! It was awesome :) thank you Captain John and Al for an amazing first deep sea fishing trip!!! You guys rock!!! read more
