Very disappointed in this place. When they first opened five years ago I went and was just as disappointed but decided to give them another shot, Big mistake! Not that great. I had peel and eat shrimp and fries. The shrimp were overcooked and the fries too salty. A friend had mai mai that was supposed to be fresh, but he said it was obviously frozen. The worst food I have had in Vero Beach! Might be the worst food I have ever had anywher! The service was pretty bad too. I ordered the sesame encrusted tuna, they brought me a tuna taco. I told the server that I ordered the sesame encrusted tuna. So she took the tuna out of the taco shells sprinkled about 6 sesame seeds on it and brought it back to me cold and assured me that was how they prepared sesame encrusted tuna. 2nd time coming to Fishack. Just like we remembered. Different wait staff but just as friendly. Had our son make a picture of a fish and posted on the wall which was very thoughtful and cute. The food once again great! Had the Seafood Stew special. It was soooo good! All that seafood and the broth was creamy and delicious. A little thin for my taste but so flavorful that it made up for it in a big way! Wife got the Shrimp Platter. So many shrimp, so little time. All fresh and fried to perfection with a light breading that was not too heavy but not lacking in texture and flavor. The little one had the Mac and Cheese and it was just great! I would recommend this restaurant for its interesting seafood menu, things like lobster mac and cheese, but most of the times I have tried to go there, it was closed (when it was supposed to be open). We had the Conch Fritters and Lob Lob Mac & Cheese for appetizers and The Barge Challenge for an entree (a 24" Po'Boy with fries and slaw) as well as the blackened Shackwitch with sweet potato 'tater tots, chicken fingers, mac & cheese, and a fried Shackwitch with fries. They had a booth that fit our party of 8 but it was a bit tight. I really liked the fries. They were tossed with Old Bay and were nice and crispy and HOT. We'll be back there soon to give a few more menu items a try. There are plenty of TVs hanging from the ceiling so it'd be a fun place to go to watch your favorite game. read more

On our road trip back down to Miami we were looking for a good seafood spot while passing through Vero Beach. I found Fishack on Yelp and saw they had decent reviews and saw the photos of their Shrimp & Grits and decided to give it a try. My husband grew up fishing and has VERY high standards for fresh fish and will not tolerate any sort of "fishy smell". I ordered the Shrimp & Grits which was BY FAR the most phenomenal Shrimp & Grits I've ever tried. I got the shrimp blackened which was the best blackened seasoning I've ever tried (not exaggerating) my 20 month old son helped me finish the bowl of grits and enjoyed every bite! My husband order the blackened shrimp tacos and was impressed with the freshness and flavor. I definetly recommend Fishack if you're in Vero Beach and I really look forward to going back for the shrimp & grits again! Had a platter with fried sheimp , oysters , scallops , and fish! Man was it good . Coleslaw was on point! Homemade Tarter and Cocktail sauce ! Great 'shoestring' homemade onion rings ! I must admit first that I didn't go looking for this place, I was wanting to go to the place next door. The place next door didn't open until much later in the day and I was hungry.... And then let me tell you the bad thing first so I can be done with it..... great big neon in the window for Kona Beer, no Kona Beer available. There, the bad is done so lets get on to the good stuff.... The place: fun, somewhere between a beach hangout, a fishing shack, and a tiki bar. Bamboo on the walls, pictures and ehpemera of all things fishing related and, like I mentioned above, a nice big Kona Beer sign on the wall. The service: our waiter was new but did a good job. The manager type person was walking around checking with the crowd, she was very nice. The bartender even came around once to check on us. I presume the manager person and bartender person were checking up on the new waiter person, but it wasn't obtrusive or obvious. The food: There were three of us along so tried a couple of things. The special for the day was Mahi over spinach and pasta, it was awesome! Just enough sauce to give it flavor, but not so much sauce that you had pasta soup in your bowl. The fish sandwich was equally well done, fish was still flaky and tender and the spice rub was awesome. The fish and chips were the least exciting thing we ordered and even they were done very well. I am not local to Vero Beach which is a shame because this place was really good. I do know that any time I am in Vero Beach I will be going here to eat! Went here for lunch and spent 50$ on my meal and a friends. The calamari was flavorless and tasted like breading the sauce was good. And then the lunch fish and chips for 14$ was pretty small two small pieces of fish that tasted like nothing more then batter and a order of fries and a 2oz cup of slaw. I was pretty impressed with our lunch stop to Fishack! My wife and I were staying in Vero Beach and just kinda started driving around to see the area and find some lunch and (with help to Yelp's app lol) we came across this place. It was a friendly atmosphere, clean looking place and the servers were very nice. I had some fresh oysters with their hot sauce, and the hot sauce is AMAZING. They sell it. I made the mistake of not buying it and now I miss it. I had tuna taco's which were outstanding and the hot sauce flowed over those too! Well maybe 4.5 stars, but this is Vero, so this is as good as it gets within an hour drive. This place is both fun and friendly. There's a full bar and often some live acoustic music to add to the atmosphere. I'm on a diet so I don't eat a lot of fried food, but I've tried the fried oyster po boy and the fried clams and I think they are awesome here. I normally just get a blackened fish (there's normally like 4 kinds of fish to choose from each day) on top of a Caesar Salad, and my fish is always prepared nicely. I love to come here for the reasonable drink prices during happy hour and stick around for a good healthy dinner. read more

My husband and I were craving seafood so decided to try this place since we had never been before. The atmosphere is really interesting with a beach vibe. Our server, Mike, was friendly and attentive and answered our questions about a menu item. We decided to order the Lob Lob Mac for an appetizer to share. Mike was right, it was quite a large serving with lots of lobster and creamy cheese. Even with 2 of us sharing we had to take the rest home with us the portion was so huge. I decided on the fish and chips and they were hot and tasty along with the tartar sauce which was also delish. Hubby ordered the shrimp basket which also was filled with lots of shrimp cooked to perfection and piping hot.
