I try very hard not to give out 5-star reviews, but oh my Fish Taco was heavenly! I grew up in San Diego, so I'm always in search of good tacos, and Fish Taco knocked it out of the park. Came here yesterday with a few friends. I ordered the Blackened fish tacos and my friend ordered the Grilled fish tacos, so we each had one of each. I can't say which one was better because I thought both tacos were delicious! My only complaint is that it's a bit pricey for the amount of food that you get. I had two tacos with the salad and I was still hungry. Maybe if I had gotten the rice and beans, it would have been more filling. I would definitely still recommend this place though - but only as a snack unless you're willing to spend more money to order more food. I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm craving fish tacos! read more

Three and a half stars is not indicative of what I've experienced here. The food is very good. I love the decor with the huge chunky furniture and the paper towels as napkins. In the summer, there is an ice-cold, self serve vat of water; much appreciated in DC. The only disappointment here is the lack of homemade salsas. There should be at least one. read more

I had the carnitas tacos and the fish tacos. The carnitas were below average but the fish tacos were excellent.

This place has become a favorite of mine. The fish tacos are delicious as is the brisket bowl and the ancho shrimp salad. There's outdoor seating, and the food comes out quickly. The signature fried fish taco was the perfect play of flavors and textures, all for a bargain price (note: pork taco was unremarkable by comparison). Update to the very rare 5 star review. Terrific food. Those of you who come here and get chicken, steak, etc and complain about it...this place specializes in seafood. As that TV commercial says "you wouldn't order a burger in a sushi restaurant". I had, today for the first time, their corn on the cob. I think $5 is a bit insane, considering you could get a dozen ears of corn for $5 but one bite into it and WOW....worth that insane $5. Great food. read more

I've dined at Fish Taco twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. A neat little hole in the wall in a Cabin John strip mall. Their food is good, full of flavor, but seriously lacking in portion size. Their prices are a bit steep, and so for $12, I'd expect more than 2 shrimp on each of the 2 tacos in an order. They aren't very generous with the rice and beans either. Their beverage prices are steep too so consider a free glass of water to help pinch your pennies. Went tonight for a quick bite. Hubby was hungry, so I joined him, though didn't order anything. We live close by, & have wanted to try for awhile. The Latino hip hop music was great, but way too loud () for we baby boomers, even waiting outside for husband's food. When his order came, he asked if the music could be turned down a bit, & we were surprised & pleased that they turned it down--a lot--quickly. And think it was the mgr. who came out to ensure it was OK w/us. The food is fresh and yummy and comes out quickly. We love the blackened fish tacos and fish salad. However, when we were there last night, the gal at the register was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I probably should have asked if she was having a bad day, but I had the feeling that would make it even worse. We won't be back for a while. Bad karma from that gal. Too bad! Okay, about a B minus grade. Agree with other reviews that over-priced. Two bucks for a sliver of avocado is not okay. Fish tacos are better at Wild Tomato next door. They could review the seasoning as it can be bland, including the fish breading. Too much poorly seasoned, over-cooked/mushy rice in the burritos drowns the flavor and texture. Positive note that the fish has always tasted fresh. A good place for a quick meal and take out, but calling in makes it much faster. I will go again, but am not all that enthusiastic. They could be better and seems that there is potential. read more

Went on Thursday after a hike on the Billy Goat trail in the Great Falls/Potomac area. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Pleasantly vivatious and fun atmosphere. Got the blackened fish tacos and 4 street tacos. They have almost all of the flavors of the (spelling?) Juaritos. Can't wait to go back. Next time it's tacos and margaritas!! Great spot! I ordered the signature fish tacos and they were delicious! I went to Hawaii a couple of months ago, and these fish tacos would give tacos on Maui a run for their money. My friends ordered several different dishes, and they all looked amazing. I would have asked to try a bite from each of their plates, but I was too full from finishing my dish! At last!! An affordable fresh ingredient and broad selection menu available in my home town of Cabin John!! Fish Taco offered a free "order anything you want" menu tonight - giving them an opportunity to give their kitchen a trial run. They have an in house smoker in which they smoke the tomatoes that are used in their salsa which gives it a distinctive flavor! The ceviche was full of shrimp fish scallops and octopus topped with corn and mango-delicious!! Mahi Mahi was in the taco we ordered. Shrimp tacos and quesadillas too. No entree over $13. My husband and I were on our way home from an hour plus commute but decided to take a break and stop in for food in the midst of traffic. We exited and drove for a couple miles and found Fish Tacos. I was apprehensive because of their luke warm reviews for a taco establishment and it's Baja California style but decided to give it a shot. Boy, am I glad I didn't let the reviews deter. We ordered 4 steak tacos for the both of us because we weren't that hungry but could always eat. I took my first bite and was blown away with the freshness and quality of ingredients in the taco. The beef was seasoned just right and cut into cubes and not minced or slices, so you could taste the tenderness. It was perfectly topped with onions, cilantro, and gaujillo sauce; lime slices served on the side. We were looking for sauces and were initially disappointed but the disappointment dissipated after our first bite. It was perfect the way it is. The best $3 steak taco I've ever had. read more

Last Saturday night, I went to Fish Taco with my husband to give the new restaurant a try. We really liked it! We got there at about 6:15 pm and it wasn't that busy. By 6:30-6:45, it started to fill it up. We ordered chips and salsa (salsa was delicious) to start. My husband ordered the Signature Fish Taco, which he enjoyed but didn't go crazy over it. I ordered the Veggie Rice Bowl - yum! The decor was funky/Restoration Hardware meets Chipotle/Cal Tort. Service was prompt, the restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, good local vibe... Only negative is that it was a bit pricey, but I would not hesitate to return time and time again. It's a great dining option for the Cabin John/Bethesda area. read more

Fish taco is my favorite restaurant and I go there at least once a week. People complain about it being to spicy but in my opinion if theres one thing they could improve is adding MORE spice! By far the best restaurant in the shopping center. It is the biggest neighborhood hangout for high schoolers and in walking distance from multiple neighborhoods. If you've had a bad experience with their food then you probably didn't order the SIGNATURE TACO, the STEAK QUESADILLA, the CORN ON THE COB, or the SHRIMP SALAD. These are by far the best dishes from my experience and all of my friends and family agree. I always pair my food with some Nantucket nectars lemonade or the classic local Honest tea. Also, if you don't like fish there are a lot of other options to choose from! read more

I went here based on a gluten free recommendation. I discussed my allergy with the counter rep. I asked questions of the kitchen staff. It was clearly communicated that I have Celiacs. I was assured all tacos are served on corn tortillas unless specifically requested other wise. The rep even advised me not to eat the steak taco because it is marinated in beer. I thanked her for being so thorough and put a tip on our bill even though this is not a sit down restaurant. My food was brought out and I did not double check before eating the first taco. Halfway thru, I realized, this is too soft and stretchy, this has to be a flour tortilla. AND IT WAS! I ingested almost a whole flour taco shell. I took my food back up to the counter and they did not offer to remake the tacos nor give me a refund. Terrible handling of a very serious mistake! Celiacs, do not eat here!
