When I got there the room was packed with people waiting for their order and I can see a lot of phone order slips which was a good sign. He was so distracted with my daughter winking and waving hi to her that he didn't give me my receipt and when I asked him for it he gave me someone else's receipt. Small place but easy to find, got the fried catfish with shrimp and a side of greens and macaroni salad. Oh and I also got the peach cobbler. The cat fish and shrimp was crispy and seasoned perfectly, the greens were decent but I wasn't really feeling the macaroni salad. The hush puppies was really good, normally not a fan but these were good I can tell it was freshly made. Service was great ! The fish is crunchy as you bite into it and flaky and juicy and tender just as it should be . The sides are ok but the fish is the thing you come for in this spot . I went to this location and couple weeks ago and ordered Catfish and shrimp by the time I got 5 min from.home I noticed a whiff of something that didn't smell fresh but I wasn't sure what I smelled. I hot home and after eating 2 shrimp and fried noticed a smell coming from the fish like it had been sitting out or was old. The filet of catfish dinners here are outstanding! The fish is always fresh, tender and flavorful. I always get the fish fried extra crispy and I'm never disappointed. I have been going to this location for years and it seems to have gotten better. The sides however are a problem. The potato salad has no flavor and I have no idea what they put in it, maybe yogurt or cream? There's no pickles or pickle relish, no mayo or mustard. The coleslaw is flavorless and the veggies are not crispy. The hush puppies are okay. They could be cooked a little longer, I just eat the outside. If they improved their sides, you wouldn't e able to get into the place. There's no seating inside but people just sit in their cars and eat!!! Or eat driving down Long Beach Blvd like I do!
