Ordered the broil salmon with the sides of rice and salad. 10 minutes later, my order was ready, hot and delicious. Definitely fit within my dietary goals. I do not know how I didn't know about this place sooner. I did an order for pick up and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the salmon with rice and a small salad. It only cost 12.50 and filled me up. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The rice was cooked well and the sald protion was very tiny (which I liked). I do appreciate that the salmon had flavor. Usually salmon I get taste like rubber or lacks flavor not this place. But you have the option of fried salmon or broiled. Broiled is the way to go if you're trying to be healthier and not have your acid reflux attacking you later. As a side I also had mozzarella sticks that were lightly breaded. It was only $4 for 6 of them. A lot of places don't have them that low. The sauce for them tasted good as well. I'm glad the breading didn't fall off as I ate them. I ordered the whiting and shrimp and chips combo! REALLY GOOD. The whiting was MEATY ! Fresh, not a fishy taste. The shrimp were ok, I can tell they were frozen because of texture the taste was good too. The French fries were good and crispy. I only have 4 stars because they don't give you enough condiments. They gave me only two tartar sauces for TWO ORDERS. And 3 packets of ketchup. Chile what's that? But overall decent. I recommend. read more

If you are craving fish for lunch at an affordable price range this is the place to come. If you pick your fish from the fresh fish side I am sure you will be getting a fantastic meal. If you order the fish from behind the counter, I have a hunch you're probably getting frozen food that is fried. When it comes to active seafood markets, none come more fried up than the Fish House in Sunnyside. Located along a busier stretch of Greenpoint Ave, this easy to miss establishment is generally one of the least popular spots in the hood. This isn't because it's unbearable by any means, but it's true when I say the Fish House is still considered fairly unknown. It probably doesn't help their sign / awning is riddled with holes, which i really hope is by design. It should also be noted this isn't a restaurant either. It's strictly take out or delivery and credit cards are accepted. I came here one day after just going up and down Greenpoint and stumbled across what I thought was going to be a divey Seafood joint. Instead, it was a divey seafood market. Small and fishy, random sea creatures from lobster to trout sat on top beds of ice at fairly cheap prices. "Fresh!!!" responded the enthusiastic Korean owners upon seeing me peruse the aisle. They then handed me a takeout menu and told me they'll cook whatever they have here and deliver i for a fee. I opted for something simple and cheap: a fired whiting sandwich. I left and continued to stroll on the street while munching on sandwich and realized it was super tasty. The fried bits added some nice texture, despite not holding together very well and flakes of fish were lost in the process. There was a hint of tarter caked in the sandwich and the bread itself was nothing remarkable. For $3, this sandwich was solid. I've ordered delivery several times now and have been impressed with their fried shrimp and broiled salmon. The shrimp was fried well, yet moist and juicy on the inside and the salmon was perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and pseudo-buttery. I am a little disappointed they don't offer many sides beyond jo-jos aka potato wedges and the fact they use fake (fried) crab legs for takeout. Not every fish is able to be prepped either, so the menu is somewhat limited to certain kinds of (presumably inexpensive quality) seafood. Outside of Latin and Eastern European eateries, there aren't too many places that offer the array of seafood like the Fish House. At reasonable pricing with decent delivery, it's exactly the kind of place a seafood lover on a budget can appreciate. read more

There is really one word that I can say that describes the seafood.... "Delicious"! I have walked by this place many times but never really went in to order anything. Tonight, I was looking for a place to pick up dinner to take home. I decided to finally give this place a try and I am so glad that I did. I ordered their broiled salmon steak (very generous size) with yellow rice (for an extra $2.00), plus small salad. I also ordered a side of scallops, and onion rings (yes I was very hungry.) My salmon was cooked perfectly. I asked the woman to cook my salmon steak medium rare so that way by the time I get my salmon home it would not be over cooked. Their scallops were ok. My father got their fried whole porgy, it had like a corn meal coating and it was a large fish which was really tasty, plus he ate it faster than I could snap a shot. Finally, a seafood place in the neighborhood. It's not a restaurant, but its a clean fish market with a cooking station on the other side of the store. You can pick off their set menu or purchase fresh fish which is not on their menu and have them cook it for you. If you are in a rush and don't want to wait you should plan to order a head of time to go pick up or for delivery. They can get pretty busy very quickly. read more

You get what you pay for. Affordable prices for decent food. Our family order 12 oysters, 1 catfish plate, 1 tilapia plate, 1 order of crab cakes, 1 salmon sandwich, and 2 orders of fried shrimp. All of that for 74 dollars! Not bad at all. The crab cakes were just okay in my opinion. Definitely wouldn't order again. Everything else was delicious. The batter was crispy and not greasy at all. First thing I have to complain about is about their breaded shrimp. Their order is like what? 6 or 7 bucks for 10? I don't remember now. Let's pretend it's 7 bucks for 10 breaded shrimp. You'd assume you get 10 whole shrimp, but nope, nope, nope. I took a picture to share here because it's ridiculous. THEY CUT THE SHRIMP IN 3 PIECES. That's right, they slice the shrimp. They should call it an order of sliced shrimp. It's a lot of deep fried bread crumbs, making the shrimp look big, but once you remove the breadcrumbs, you see how tiny the slices of shrimp are. I've been a fan of this restaurant for a while. I've enjoyed their food and have recommended it to many people. I'm not sure why it's changing for the worst. The costumer service is pretty bad now. In fact, the last time I was there about 3 days ago, I walk in to see a couple being upset because they were being overcharged. They ran out of rice and asked if I wanted fries instead, I said yes. When the time came to pay, I noticed I was being overcharged too. The reason? They didn't mention the fries weren't a replacement, they were charging them as a side order. Now I understand why that couple was upset. A smaller complaint... gave them a last chance. I stopped by on my way home and ordered something to go. The guy though I was going to eat there and brings me a bottle of the dressing along with some napkins. I tell him it's to go, he takes everything back. Once I get my order, I see there's no dressing for the salad. I tell him, he hands me bunch of packets of Italian dressing, tartar sauce, plus 2 whole packet of ketchup but not their pink sauce. I asked for more ketchup and he gave me ONE whole packet more. I told him he didn't give me any of the pink dressing they make, he said it's there. I unpack the bag and show him. He wants to sell me the dressing... I said "listen, you just put the bottle on the table. Let me just serve the dressing on the salad now then." He sighs, gives me a tiny cup of dressing. Finally, he gives me what's supposed to come with the salad. It's a shame to see them get this bad. I genuinely liked this place, and I hope this doesn't ruin their business because it would suck to see them close. This is one of my go-to places. I've ordered from here dozens of times. I will continue to order from here. But the staff is rude, unfriendly and seems half annoyed every time I order. But the seafood is really good. We've ordered many different meals of fish, shrimp, calamari, scallops, fries, tots, rice, salad. The fried shrimp is always perfectly crispy, good size and the cocktail sauce in a cup is my favorite. It's the perfect amount of sweet. Scallops, fish, calamari, fries, tots, all good. The tarter sauce in the cup is ok. Extra credit for having tots! Prices are good and serving size is good as well. Here's what needs improvement and the reason for only 3 stars for a place I order from once every other week. First- be nice to your customers. It would be really great for me to feel like my business is valued and appreciated. Sometimes I don't order because I don't want to deal with the attitude. Or I order on seamless to avoid talking to you, which I feel guilty for because they keep way too much of the money. Next- your fish sandwich deserves a roll- white bread is gross and cheap and the sandwich will be 100times better with a roll. Next- you provide a ton of packet condiments and they go in the garbage every time. Salad dressing, tarter sauce, hot sauce, and ketchup. The ketchup is the only one we eat. We've asked for them to be left out repeatedly and our instructions have never been followed. What a waste of money and bad for the environment. I ordered the fried shrimp and imitation crab dish. They were almost out of rice so the woman supplemented it with onion rings which I was fine with. + The woman SMILED at me (in New York? YES) after I came in a few minutes before closing. + Prices are reasonable and no tip needed. - Food was dry and tasted a day old (my fault for coming in too late) - Food is TO-GO only. Went in for takeout got the whole fried porgy and the 10 large shrimp combo! The whole fried shrimps were grabbed from their fresh fish market then breaded and fried to perfection I had to eat one when I got to my car. Both the porgy and shrimp came with rice lemon and salad. The whiting filets seemed either overcooked or stale. I doused everything in tartar sauce to give it some flavor so that can't be healthy.. The rice has absolutely NO flavor. Less flavor than white rice. The little mini-salad was just some lettuce, which was fine. I liked that they included a little salad to break up the other textures & add some freshness. There are 3 small tables to dine in and while other people noted that it smells like a fish market I didn't think it was that bad; the smell was barely perceptible and the whole shop was clean. I had the fried scallops and shrimp combo which came with 7 pieces of each along with a small salad and choice of rice or fries all for $7. The food was decent tasting, there isn't much flavor in the breading, but at $7 that's a great deal for seafood. The grilled and broiled options might be tastier. This modest seafood store and mini fast seafood shack lacks atmosphere and has barely any seating, with four chairs and two small tables. But is you are in the nabe and want fresh cheap seafood, then Fish House is worth a stop. By no means gourmet fried fare, Fish House serves up thickly crusted and crunchy battered seafood. I had the fried shrimp platter, 10 medium shrimp served on either rice, or with onion rings or fries, along with a small salad. I loved fried seafood but am not a fan of the coating; sis wonders why I order fried food in the first place. It's the way a good frying seals in the sweetness of the seafood, of course! Fish House's coating was too heavy for my tastes so I peeled off the crust to feast on the sweet and succulent shrimp underneath. The platter comes with a tiny iceberg salad, that surprisingly had many pieces of tomatoes and cucumbers. Sneaking a peak at my very close neighbors, I saw that the two men occupying the sole other table when I went in were smarter with their calories, and chose broiled fish that came seasoned and encased in their tin foil tents. Their fish looked and smelled good, with the juices of the fish steaming the fish. They seemed as happy as I was, chowing down. Since Fish House sells the seafood right there, they have a pretty good selection of fried and broiled seafood, with and without sides. Service was warm. This is a family owned fish spot. Found them on yelp and glad we gave them a try. Friday early evening we decided to eat in. They weren't very busy but i did notice they had a whole bunch of seamless orders. We ordered a #6 2 pieces of whiting fish w/ 6 shrimp salad & onion rings and #12 flounder w/ 6 shrimp salad & Jo Jo seasoned fries(which were more like wedges). We also ordered a side of calamari and a catfish fillet which came with yellow rice and salad. The only down side is the whiting had bones. Next time i'll get the flounder. Oh and the shrimp were breaded just right...you can see and taste the shrimp itself. The place does smell fishy but they do sell fresh fish on one side. Everything was made to order meaning nothing was sitting in the oil waiting for a customer. Orders can be fried or broiled. Our fish was good hot, fresh flaky with flavor and everything down to the rice was good. Oh and all the food was CHEAP! We enjoyed all of it and will be coming back. We took some food to our friends and they will be visiting this place also.
