    Perch

I ordered the small perch dinner. When they said small they meant it. 3 of the smallest fish fillets I've ever had. My food was also cold. We also ordered 3 legs crispy and got them burnt. Paid 30 bucks. Over priced for quality. I will not return here.

I made my second visit to Fish Express today, and this place is a winner. Forget sentiments like "as soon as I walked through the door, I could smell that this would be a great meal." At Fish Express, that experience starts in the parking lot. This place is all about deep-frying, and that focus really shows. They know exactly what they're doing, and they always hit the mark: hot, juicy on the inside, crispy and golden brown on the outside. As was mentioned in a previous review, Fish Express does a lot of phone-in business. I was able to order after standing at the counter for about a minute, and that doesn't bug me a bit. I ordered a catfish (filet) and wings combo. Combos come with two slices of white bread, coleslaw, and a choice of fries or rice. I opted for fries. Pricetag: $7.95. The cashier told me "it'll be ready in thirteen minutes." I was impressed by the precision. Twelve-and-a-half minutes later, my order was ready. I accepted an offer of hot sauce and made for the door. When I got home about ten minutes later, I opened the container and got to business. The fries were crispy, and perfectly seasoned. I'm normally a big fan of ketchup on fries, but these simply didn't need it. It seemed like they may have been lightly battered, but I couldn't tell for sure. The catfish, now ten minutes out of the fryer, was still piping hot. It had a great, mild flavor, and was delicious dipped in hot sauce. Unlike the fries and fish, the wings had cooled a bit. They were pretty tasty, but not "damn that's good" good like the fish. I filled up quick enough that I didn't touch the bread and had only a taste of the coleslaw. It was coleslaw. As you might expect, the food does hit you pretty hard, so if you're in the mood for a light salad, this might not fit the bill. If you've got an appetite and/or a long day of hard work ahead of you, you'll be just fine.

Gizzards and fried pollock for the 2-combo dinner

Checked this place out after the Yelp email came out -- surprisingly good! It is in a sketchy neighborhood, but this place was packed on Saturday night! Even though I called in, it still took about 10-15 minutes even after I arrived. It is a lot of food for the price, and they are quite heavy handed on the seasoning. I think it's a lemon pepper seasoning. For my 2 combo dinner, I ordered cornmeal coated pollock and gizzards. It also came with 2 slices of white bread underneath, fries, and coleslaw (you can order double fries in lieu of the coleslaw). It also came with a drink! All for $10. I couldn't even finish half of it.

Chicken with Feathers is so gross

Food is ok but the uncleaned Chicken with the Feathers is not good as at all. Cooks should never touch their hair when cooking

5 stars before and 5 stars now. I love salty food and this hits the spot perfectly. Well fried food at an affordable price ; definitely recommend over Popeyes or KFC!

Don't bother going here until after the virus is over. Talk about disorganized and slow. What a joke.

Just be aware that when you order the catfish fillets, you're being served a cheaper fish called Swai. It's common practice in restaurants.

Always great take away food. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded and a tad slow. But this because The Fish Express is such a good deal.

We hosted 10 people in their main dining room, and it was the perfect ambiance. Their dinner rolls are complimentary, super fluffy and come with a side of black salted butter. We also started with the house salad, and I split two specials - a potatoes au gratin dish along with a dish called Jafar's Chicken. Both were incredible. And we wanted somewhere nice, so didn't mind paying around $50 per dish, but the food just was nothing remarkable at all. I got the wagyu steak and she got some kind of fish. Mine was undercooked, but I'm not picky, so no big deal. But even after just having the dish at our table for a few minutes, they weren't warm anymore; just cooled to room temperature. It's like the plates had been sitting on a counter in the kitchen for 5-10 minutes before they got brought out to us. Our server was nice enough, but again for the price you're paying, you'd really expect a phenomenal experience. She was no more or less friendly than a server at Applebee's. My fiance had put on our reservation that it was our 1-year anniversary, so we thought at least somebody would say congratulations (as they do at other nice places in Kalamazoo), but it went completely unremarked upon. We didn't expect a free dessert or anything, but again, for what we paid for the meal, we expected them to at least mention the occasion. It's not a bad restaurant. But for what they're charging for food, you absolutely are not getting your money's worth.

Cousin's truck is a luxury motor home tricked-out with all the latest bells and whistles of high tech. There were big chunks of lobster in the sandwich but little seasoning or taste, I have had the Lobster Roll at Cove in Portage which was really delish dish with a great view for the same price. I was going to walk back and ask him about the lack of pico but there was a line and I didn't want to cut in line or make a scene. First, there were no smiles from either staff working in the truck. If anything, they appeared annoyed. Second, if they were running out, just tell their customers and either charge less or offer another side. We've ordered from 3 trucks in the area and 2 out of the 3 were a similar experience (no smiles, appears annoyed). For a food truck, even though it's lobster, it's overpriced and overrated.
