The mussels were the best, because they did have more dark funky squishy mussels-like quality than the faux shrimp and the skinny mushy calamari. And the mussels did have some sort of vague flavor. The shrimps and calamari had no flavor, other then battery crustiness. This is not proper seafood - - it is a crusty batter vehicle, with mushy interior that reminds you somehow of seafood, but doesn't taste of it. And the other confusing thing? The meal itself. The fish in question was devoid of flavor because I couldn't taste the batter, though it was certainly tender. (A tad too tender, if you ask me though, as I questioned whether it was a little undercooked.) The chips seemed like frozen fries from a local supermarket and the ketchup tasted too much like curry ketchup for my liking, though I saw a later diner request what must've been normal ketchup from the server. Maybe we should just let British pubs do what they do best instead. It is the same great fresh fish offer and menu with fish and chips but in an historic old market hall, something like Borough food market in London. I tried salmon fish and chips for the first time ever which was excellent and sat at a huge wooden table, the 'Mother of all tables'. There is now a Saturday brunch also every weekend. Great food, hot and fresh and cheap compared to UK prices. If you are in Berlin it is worth visiting the Arminius Halle in Moabit (not far from main railway station).
