I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

Of course, every facility has its ups and downs -- no place is perfect -- but this one is definitely among the better ones. Julie actually listens to our concerns and needs, and the kitchen staff is very accommodating with anything our mother needs. While the call light response time could be a little quicker at times, we understand how busy the caregivers are. Overall, we are truly grateful. So, after asking friends and everyone I met about what they did and who they used, we found out about Arcadia Gardens Retirement Hotel. I was really happy with the care my mom got there. With their help, she recovered from the first stroke and was able to get around and feed herself. Over time, she had another stroke, a heart attack, and eventually had memory loss, spending her last years in memory care. I want to say that not only did my mom get wonderful care, but they also cared about me! They made sure I understood what my mom needed. They went over her meds, always explaining what she was taking, and talked about diapers, what brands worked best for her, wheelchairs, mattresses for the hospital bed, and so on. I will say I went several times each week to check on things - it's teamwork, and with Arcadia Gardens on my team, my mom had a good life right up until the end. Hard to believe a medical service can be as attentive as a fine dining restaurant, but that is what…read morethis was. We used Five Star for about five days. Medicare and Optum covered the hospice side. I paid separately for 24/7 caregivers through Sincere Care Services, which I chose because I wanted Cantonese and Mandarin speakers so my mother would be more comfortable. Five Star was recommended by the Optum physician on staff. Separately, a family member recommended them too, through a friend whose father had passed the week before. I checked their ratings on Yelp and Google before moving forward, and I am extremely happy with the service we got from start to finish. This is the point where you decide between more hospital intervention, which can be painful, and accepting the situation and moving to hospice. Hospice is the wedding coordinator for a peaceful death. Things can still go wrong even when you plan everything perfectly, but Five Star was there at every step to handle whatever came up. The rough sequence for anyone about to do this: 1. Decide on hospice. 2. Line up caregivers. They are separate from Five Star, but Five Star will point you to good ones. I wanted Chinese-speaking caregivers and Mark made it happen. 3. Coordinate with the hospital on transportation. 4. Be home to receive the supplies. 5. Be home when your loved one arrives. Have a bottle of distilled water ready for the oxygen machine. 6. Have the nurse and the caregiver both there so you can learn the comfort meds. 7. I used 24/7 caregivers on 12-hour shifts. I made a point of being there whenever a new caregiver came on, so I could walk them through the medications and get their phone number. Nurses came once a day to check on my mother since she was close. You do not have to be there the whole time, but I tried to be there for shift changes. One thing I wish I had watched more closely was bowel movements. My mother had been constipated since the hospital because she was not eating. Another tip: put together a playlist of beautiful music to play in the room. Otherwise it is silence, or your loved one is listening to caregivers talk and scroll on their phones. Even when your loved one is not responsive, they are still listening and drifting in and out. Tell them everything will be okay. Thank them for everything they did for you. I think it helps them go peacefully. Anytime I needed something, Mark was a text or a call away and he always answered. Again, they are the wedding coordinators for a loved one's passing, and they will do everything within their power to help you through it.

They arranged for all the necessary equipment and medicines to be delivered to the senior care facility she was at. The lady my mom was in contact with told my mother to call her anytime and that she was available 24/7. This held true when a couple days later, my mom contacted her as my Grandma's condition had deteriorated and they sent out a nurse to be with her around the clock. We had the pleasure of working with Emma and Rosalyn, who were two of the most caring and dedicated nurses you'll ever meet. Their care for my Grandmother was gentle and thorough. They were there around the clock with our family and saw us through to the very end, making my Grandmother's transition and passing as painless and comfortable as possible. These two ladies are truly called to be in this profession as their interactions with the patient and family show their love for people and what amazing hearts they have. We are so blessed to have met them!

Somehow, they got my mom's phone number and called her at 11:45 pm, the one person I absolutely did not want called. My mom then had a stroke, I knew she would be upset, I needed to be the one to tell her. When hospice sent my aunt to The Neptune Society, they said she had a pacemaker, she did not. Hospice listed her cause of death wrong; they obviously had the wrong person, they tried to blame The Neptune Society for their error. This was added stress we did not need at this horrible time.

We were very happy having my sister live in Trinity Hills Estates for the 10 months she was there…read more The house is lovely and very clean and located on a beautiful residential street. My sister had a beautiful big room with all of her things in it including her desk, computer, TV and DVD player, large bookshelves, and pictures on the walls. It really felt like her own apartment. She was unable to walk and was moved from her wheel chair to her bed in a hydraulic lift. The staff were warm and loving and always ready to do whatever she wished. She liked to do things on schedule so they helped her to set up a daily plan. Every member of the staff was friendly, patient, and kind. They listened to her requests and and appreciated her humor and wit. She enjoyed the home cooked food that was prepared for her and the other residents. And, in good weather often was taken outside to eat lunch or look at the beautiful, quiet garden. When she was first there she joined in exercises every day after breakfast. Our family visited her often and on occasion would take her out to the gazebo in the garden for an ice cream treat or special lunch. We enjoyed having Vanessa celebrate all the holidays in a big way. We had the Easter Bunny visit, visiting musicians, Fourth of July Flags, and Treats for Halloween. We all were very pleased with everything and everyone there. We were fortunate indeed to have found such a wonderful place for my sister to live out her last days. I heartily recommend this very special Board and Care home.

The staff was so lovely and accommodating and as we walked around I noticed that they had at least twice as many staff as I've seen at the other places we've explored. It really made me feel reassured that my family member would be very well taken care of. My mom was also very pleased with the idea of having her own room, and since she loves to garden in her free time, the nurses assured her that she was more than welcome to get her hands dirty if she wanted to. I really wanted to find a place where my mom can feel at ease and happy but where she can still be looked after, especially in an emergency. I think we've found the perfect place.
