I was confused and I feel that I was not treated well at all! I then went to what I thought was my room! But found out from the nurse that came in, it was a holding floor until I was moved to floor 6. I was moved to so many rooms I wasn't sure where I was suppose to be! Then the boy that was taking me to floor 6 came in to move me, I said "Okay let's do it!!" Let's go to the next floor". The nurses tried to make it sound in a sexual in nature. I was happy that I was going to a new floor although little did I know it was going to be worse!! I was better and ask the floor 6 to please let floor 2 know that I was sorry and regretted being like that and she said "no I will not tell her". There was one nurse that unfortunately leaving to go home, his shift was over! He was very nice to me. Then after he left no one took my vitals in fact they argued about Who was going to come to my room! I was close enough to the nurses desk that I could hear everything they were saying, they made sure of it! It took until the next nurse came in that she learned no vitals had been done! After that, every thing seemed to be better! They came in accept there was one guy medical assistant, or nurse I don't know anyone's name on Floor 2, which was the floor I was on until they found me a bed on floor 6. That floor was even worse!! Finally I thought I was being discharged, but then went to another holding room and waited to be released. I will not ever go back to that hospital again!

The front desk immediately took me to the back to start pain management and diagnoses. The team got the pain under control and properly diagnosed my issue. The team is very professional with all the labs tools in house needed for testing on site. The facility is amazing. The Staff is most caring and warm to your needs. Why 5 stars? Because they saved my Dad's life…read more --- --- --- A hospital having a Yelp page is definitely a different ballgame than just about any other kind of business. I'm sure that there are countless others who have lost loved ones at Bay Area Regional Medical Center, and it probably had nothing to do with the doctors/nurses not performing up to a certain standard during their visit. Life's randomness sometimes trumps precision that the most wonderful medical professionals on Earth have to offer. But in our case, BARMC could only be described as a God-send. My dad had a heart attack on Thanksgiving. In an instant, my Dad transformed from the most active 58 year old that anyone knows, to the guy laying on the bathroom floor at the gym with no pulse. My brother was fortunately by his side, and was able to call 911 pretty instantly. The paramedics arrived swiftly and were as efficient as possible in literally bringing him back from the dead. He was then transported to BARMC. He quickly had to have a stent placed in his artery, which went very smoothly. By the time I got into town a few hours later, he was heavily medicated, but still awake and talking. I didn't even know what any of this meant prior to Thursday, but apparently, it was nothing short of a miracle. Not only that he was alive, but that he went from a goner to very normal in a few hours. This is a testament to my dad's excellent shape/conditioning, but I'd imagine all of medical people involved played a role as well :) Where we really began to appreciate BARMC is the quality of care that he received in ICU. All of the nurses/doctors were absolutely phenomenal. Kayla, Natalia, Shelby, Dennis and all of the other names that I'm forgetting - you were all the absolute best. It's amazing that people who work in a place that's filled with so much sadness on a daily basis, could manage to be so cheerful and happy. All of them had the demeanor of people who were on vacation, in that, they were just so happy and joyful. Maybe it was that my dad's story was so amazing, or maybe this place just breeds super heroes. Either way, we loved it. All of these wonderful folks really helped me to put life in perspective. I love my job and always give it my all... but these people literally save lives for a living. Instead of enjoying Thanksgiving with their family, they perform insanely advanced procedures on people, while crying family members wait in the lobby with lives hanging in the balance. Much like folks who join the military, it's a job I could never do, but I'm forever grateful that others can.

They never responded to the call button and they employees are smart ass and mock you when you ask for help. I know several people work there and the place is rotten from the top down. Good people will not stick around and it will only get worse until upper management does something to change the culture. The HR department needs to be completely fired and built from the ground up. All the employees seem to be rejects from other hospitals in the area that were willing to accept a lower wage to have free reign to do whatever they want. They do not know how to staff, compensate or develop their employees. You can't teach someone to be a nice human being though.

All three of the women at the reception area were rude, short, non-accommodating. The check-in "nurse" was very short with my 7 year old. She seemed frustrated to be there which is fine but don't project that on to my child. He asked questions about what she was doing to him out of fear/lack of knowledge and she just kind of blew him off. My son was cold as he had an ice pack on his body without a shirt. I asked for a warm blanket and got an attitude...eventually it came. I pointed out the room had blood on the chairs and walls that didn't come from us. The "nurse" just looked and walked away. - - YUCK. I felt like there wasn't any privacy. A patient next to me said "i was just discharged from the 4th floor and puss is coming out of my arm. Im afraid I'll get staph." And another guest that shared the secured intake waiting area said she had scabies and this was her second visit in a week....definitely got my SpongeBob on and walked out. No offense, but the lack of privacy and fear of direct transmission alarmed me. I know it's a hospital but I feel like the areas should be cleaned between treating people. The visiting "doctor" was very thorough but couldn't get help from the staff. I ended up leaving without discharge papers smh. There was a young man with glasses and a nose piercing that was very kind and patient towards the end that brought our medication. I wish caught his name. There was also a very passionate assistant that offered my son a coloring book after much distress.

I made these appointments over a year ago and I understand that things can happen but they really should have open slots through the week for when the doctors need to cancel appointments. There is no guarantee that by rescheduling a month or more out I will be able to see the doctor and I will more than likely repeat this process. Highly recommend looking for a smaller/private practice because Houston Methodist is disconnected from the needs of their patients and are unwilling/unable to provide the patient care required.

On June 26th of 2020…read more I went to UTMB League City to get blood work done for the cardiologist.  The nurse stuck the needle in so hard that my whole body jerked forward.  Usually, since I am diabetic I usually bruise and hurt for a week up to a month but this time there was just PAIN.  I could not do anything, crochet, type, turn on a fan, get dressed or put on deodorant, etc.  Since I have arthritis and carpel tunnel in my right hand, I depended a lot on my left hand.  When my pain did not subside after a month, I called the UTMB complaint department.  I was assigned Dahlia, excuses were made but she stated if a doctor says my pain is from the needle prick then she would help me.  By week 6 I was in so much pain  I could not sleep and went to my local emergency room. I live quite a ways from UTMB and I could only drive with my right hand so going there was not an option. They said I need an MRI to assess the damage and know how to treat it. Dahlia strung me along for 4 months, every month saying something different, even lying about speaking to the doctor and what the doctor said. (Doctor confirmed it was due to the needle prick) She was very careful not to answer emails but only talk on the phone so there would be no proof of what she said.  Finally she says they will not pay for me to go get an MRI. I have to pay out of pocket and IF the technicians says my injury was a result of the needle prick THEN they will pay my medical expenses. I spoke to the technician and they said they can only assess the damage. Its not a crystal ball. At this point I knew Dahlia was NOT going to take responsibility for my hand and I could not afford $1400 for an MRI. Thats my rent money right there. I had already accumulated 100s of dollars of medical bills.  I was so stressed out I started getting vertigo so now Im putting out more money for meds.  As a result of not being able to use my hands, I had to put pressure on other parts of my body causing stress and pain to those parts of my body. My pinky and ring finger would go numb at night and I had the hardest time getting up in the mornings. I was miserable.  I called a few lawyers but it proved difficult, due to covid and other reasons, one of which was that UTMB is a state run hospital and as such is pretty much untouchable. This is NOT right. They should take responsibility for their wrongdoing.  I wasnt asking for monetary compensation. I only asked that they pay the medical expenses for my hand.  However on the advice of a lawyer, I called the hospital administration. I spoke to a person called Bobbi who was very rude and said they fully stand by whatever the complaint department did. As of that time, over a year later 08/21 they stated they still had not made a decision whether to help me or not.  I went months in severe pain and it wasnt until 6 months later that the pain even began to subside. I had to wear the splint for a good while to try to keep my hand still. The side effects to the meds were very unpleasant as well. The worst part about it was not being able to crochet. This was my down time in a very stressful life. During covid I was crocheting so much and buying yarn is a pretty penny to finish a blanket. All that yarn just sitting there and I could not touch it. It was so fulfilling to make something beautiful and now I cant.  Exactly a year later my hand developed a cyst and swelling. Then another cyst. Then a lump. I went to a hand specialist and he said without that MRI they cant know how to help me.  My hand never fully healed. As I type this my hand is very uncomfortable. My hand is weak and sore.  I do have some medical records, all my doctor bills, and screenshots of the times some of my phone calls. I just feel this isnt right and they should be held accountable.
