This wouldve been the perfect opportunity for the manager to tell me about shared branch ATM services such as cash deposits via Fiserv's Accel network. This means that another bank's ATM's can receive my deposit and its credited to my New Valley account as long as I'm using an ATM that's within the Accel network. There was zero mention of this extremely useful function at the time of account opening. I am disappointed as its an ability that actually serves me very well. I figured it out on my own by researching this network that I had previously never heard of. They still get 5 stars but I hope new customers are presented with this info.

A week after creating the account, I was told the promotion is no longer valid, despite their system accepting the "Get400" promotion code. I visited the Westfield brank and was told by a teller that the system accepts codes even if they are invalid since it doesn't validate them. I asked if the promotion could be extended since it had just expired. The teller checked with management and informed me that no such courtesy could be extened for a new customer. I called headquarters and asked again if they would be able to extend the promotion for a new customer. I explained the main reason for opening the account place was the promotion and that the promotion still appears on their web site and no expiration date is listed. Again, I was told my request could not be honored. I informed the representative that I would be leaving negative feedback on Yelp and closing my account immediately. I left Peoples Bank 20 years ago due to their high fees and thought I would give them another chance. Seems not much has changed. There are many better options, including credit unions that are more likely to work with their customers. Stay away from Peoples Bank.

I called to follow up with him after overnighting the package. I was struck by how incredibly unfriendly he was. No mention of condolences or offer to walk me through the process. He actually sounded irritated and complained he had just gotten back from vacation. He said he had to talk to his "legal department" and would get back to me. I could tell he considered my issue to be of very low importance, and left me with no faith my issue would e handled appropriately or at all. It's difficult to deal with all the things that come with the passing of a loved one. Of course, he has to follow protocol and has a fiduciary responsibility, but this gentleman had a choice as to his demeanor and empathy. He exacerbated my pain instead of helping to ease it. If I find I am wrong about this branch and service, I will update my review, but right now, 1 star.

I have ATM cards from two banks that have locations in Palmer, and I went first to the big/national bank where I keep most of my money. It was first thing in the morning, but they couldn't help me. I needed to make an appointment to come back after lunch. They weren't very friendly about it, either. So, I decided to take out some cash (I had my passport for ID) and go see the Country Bank branch. As I suspected, Country Bank was able to help me immediately. Deanna K. was the teller who saw me first, and she was able to issue me a new ATM card. Unfortunately, there is usually a 2-day delay before the card could be used. Carole Reuter, the Branch Operations Manager, was able to override this for me once she understood that I was in a bit of a jam, since I needed an ATM or credit card to go online and get a temporary license to drive. Both Deanna and Carole were extremely nice and accommodating and understanding. This is truly customer service at its best, and it highlighted for me the difference between a big-name big-bank and a local bank that genuinely cares about its customers. This summer, I expect to take out a loan for some home improvements. Guess where I plan to go? Thanks, Country Bank. I'm sticking with YOU!
