There was zero mention of this extremely useful function at the time of account opening. I am disappointed as its an ability that actually serves me very well. I figured it out on my own by researching this network that I had previously never heard of. They still get 5 stars but I hope new customers are presented with this info.

1 STAR -- $629 IN OVERDRAFT FEES IN ONE DAY AFTER 20+ YEARS AS A CUSTOMER…read more After more than 20 years of banking with Luso Federal Credit Union, I was hit with 17 separate $37 overdraft fees -- $629 in ONE DAY -- because PayPal had an outdated debit card number and multiple transactions unexpectedly processed through my checking account. This wasn't 17 separate spending mistakes. It was one payment-processing issue that caused multiple small ACH transactions to hit my account. I contacted Luso expecting some consideration given my 20+ year relationship, but they refused to meaningfully help or reverse the fees. What's particularly frustrating is that major banks such as Chase have limits on the number of overdraft fees they can charge in a single day, specifically to prevent situations where a customer gets buried under hundreds of dollars in fees. Luso apparently has no comparable protection. If 17 transactions hit your account, they will apparently charge you $37 seventeen times. I've done virtually all of my banking with Luso for more than two decades, including car loans. I always believed loyalty and a long-standing relationship meant something. Apparently, it doesn't. $629 in fees in one day was enough to make me take a hard look at where I bank. Losing a customer of 20+ years over an issue like this is a terrible reflection of Luso's priorities. There was a time when Luso felt like a credit union that cared about its members and community. My experience tells me those days are gone.

They've worked with me on cars that were a little too old to qualify for a loan "by the rules," and as long as it's a great car, they OK'd it. I didn't end up buying that car, but I was still impressed they didn't give me hassle and said "yes" in 10 minutes flat. Their rates are better than anything else I have seen, save maybe special manufacturer promos at 0.99%. Paperwork is kept to a minimum and fast. I've never spent longer than half an hour. I have no reason to go anywhere else. I'll keep financing cars through them for as long as I live in the Springfield area.
