I've been aware of self-scheduling self-pay MRIs for a few years now, but this was the first time using it. On the plus side, it was simple to use and easy to get a quick appointment. The scan itself produced good images and came with an accurate interpretation from a radiologist. But while I got the results that I needed, I don't think that this service is the right fit for everyone. It was super easy to schedule. They have an online scheduling form, and it was also easy to get a next day appointment (I don't think a lot of people are using the service). I paid a $50 deposit toward a $499 scan and paid the balance when I arrived. You can choose to pay an additional $100 to have an explanation attached. You get an official radiologist interpretation either way, so I assume that someone breaks down the medicalese for you. I didn't opt for that. The scan was about what I expected it to be. I do have some concerns about the MRI tech. From a customer service standpoint, she was not at all welcoming and did not introduce herself. The office was obviously set up to be customer service oriented, with a coffee bar and drink refrigerator and cups of chocolates. She didn't offer any of the amenities and even tried to hide the bowl of chocolate behind her counter. From a patient safety perspective, she also did not make any effort to go through the screening questions that determine whether it's safe for you to have the MRI or not. MRIs are safe from a radiation standpoint, but can be really dangerous because there are incredibly powerful magnets involved. In fact, there was a recent highly publicized case of someone being killed in an MRI scanner. I filled out an online questionnaire, but if I had not understood the questions, and made a mistake, she didn't make any efforts to clarify it. But she did the scan and the machine made all the expected cacophony that MRI machines make. She sent me away with a CD of the images and I had an official interpretation in my email box about four hours later. I also had my orthopedist cousin review the images and the interpretation. He felt that the images are adequate (so it's not a "stripped down" version of a real scan) and the interpretation was thorough. It did leave out a lot of the technique that I'm used to seeing (I'm also a physician, but not orthopedist), but I'm sure that most of you don't care about that anyway. So my feeling is that the walk in MRI definitely can have a useful place. If you're anxious to have an answer and it's impacting your decision-making (mine was whether I could safely continue to play soccer despite the pain), and you're willing to pay for it (in my case, if I'd waited for insurance to approve it, it'd have been next year anyway, and probably would have cost more if I hadn't met my deductible yet). As a physician, I would *not* personally recommend the total body scans that they offer for people with no symptoms of any abnormality. read more

The location is very clean and welcoming. My appointment was at 8am, perhaps the receptionist wasn't fully awake yet or perhaps, my customer service expectations are too high. Either way, he was polite. The tech, however was AWESOME! She was very knowledgeable about the process and calming in her explanations. She provided music in my headphones and gave me updates through the process. I made my appointment with a rep. versus online, however, it appears either would have been more than sufficient. The website was very clear in scheduling appointments. No surprises, no medicalese....simple and fast. They gave me the disc when I left and I got my results by around noon! I'd recommend to anyone who needs this service. To be clear, without the contrast, you may not be able to catch miniscule injuries, HOWEVER, I was super surprised that they were able to pick up mine. The website contact us form no longer works. Also, if you check the website on the location page, some of the words "location" are misspelled. This worried me if the company was legit but I see reviews. I have been calling for a few days but it says the lines are busy and to email. But the emails are not responded to. I tried to email the Gainesville location and it bounced back. So I am not sure if this company is in service or not but they seem unresponsive. read more

I had the unfortunate need to stop by here after a recent running injury. Thankfully, I had done some price shopping on MRI's and this place was $200 cheaper than the cheapest place the Doctor's Office recommended. It's a new facility, and they only have two locations that I know of. This location is in Brookhaven, in the Whole Foods parking lot. It's very modern and clean smelling, and also very cold (due to having to keep the air cold for the MRI machine). I had called and booked the appointment online, which was very easy to do. They are open on Saturdays as well, which is a big plus! I did miss one form and filled that in on their ipad when I got in. They did call me to let me know they were running behind and to show up at 12 (my appointment was at 11:30) but I still came in around 11:30. They were ready for me then, thanks to the guy who cancelled his appointment due to being claustrophobic. This place is a flat rate of $399 to get an MRI done on any one area. They require a $20 deposit at time of booking, which goes towards the cost. You pay the full cost at time of visit and that's it. You will need an appointment. I didn't wait long, and was offered coffee or water. Once called, I was taken to the back to go over what type of MRI I needed. They had a very clean and nice bathroom where I changed, and also a lock box in there for valuables. The Doctor was very nice, and let me enjoy whatever music I wanted while laying down in the machine. I didn't mind the 20 minutes or so that I needed to be in it, but was glad when it was over. They get you a CD and send you a copy of the report to you and your Doctor. Overall, I was very impressed with the place and will HIGHLY recommend it to anybody needing to go. Pro Tip: Take heed and the advice on shopping around when checking MRI prices. I was referred to get an MRI done from a running injury, and my Doctor told me to check pricing before settling on a place. Most Doctors won't tell you that. They dont do comparables to previous images.said due to legalities. That's right seeing a guy tried to sue before in a prior review. No contrast. Video was nice but incorrect due to not having medical history. Facility was clean. Issue was left in machine several minutes after last image was taken. I dont think I got a written report just a disc and link for video only good for 30 days. The 3 mris that I have done all different. No heat felt either which isnt normal. If u havent had a surgery before than it may be a decent option but for me it was a waste of money. Too many good reviews seems suspicious and i remember somebody got misdiagnosed here in a prior review. Missed chiari. Now that review is gone along with any other subpar reviews. I did one on google and its gone. If you have to send a prior image for questions u had better know how to do that in diacom format. That's what the office manager told me. If I knew how to do that, I would've sent my images from the first mri to a surgeon already. Then again that had no contrast either it only took 13 minutes which is also suspect. read more

I would have given this a rating of 10, if 10 was available. First Look MRI surpassed all expectations from cleanliness to the friendliness of the staff . And then meeting the radiologist Dr. Brian Gay.MD. He was professional, kind and compassionate. My dictated report was phenomenal. And on top of all that the price was amazing I currently have insurance with a $2500 deductible and three other facilities wanted to charge me $1200-$1500. Along with this I made the appointment myself and what best worked out or my schedule I would highly recommend this service too anyone looking for a excellent MRI read by an excellent physician , along with an excellent staff. I can honestly say this was the best bang for my buck that I've had requiring some type medical treatment. Just so you understand. They do not file any insurance nor do the except any insurance. That is how they keep their cost super low while providing top notch care. Once you put insurance into the mix the paperwork, the massive restrictions and government regulations and the price of paying those CEO of the insurance companies. We have been waiting for MRI scan.. for a week now.. and so happy we found your company.... There's too much bottleneck going on with our broken health care system.. and having found your company has been a blessing to us because I don't know if my husband could have waited several more days just to have someone call for an appointment to see him days later and then wait days later to get results.. Most patients don't even get to see what their MRI looks like, I was able to watch the video and do research on his condition so I was prepared to ask questions. Worth every penny. Saved me at least a week of anxiety of waiting to get the MRI approved by insurance, get the appointment, get the results and then get back into the doctor to read the results. Instead I was in and out in 30 minutes and had the results within 30 minutes (I did pay an extra $50 for the quick results, otherwise it's within 24 hours). The video explanation was how modern medicine should be. Extremely informative and reassuring. The facility was professional and I especially enjoyed the music and blankets provided. Before I made this appointment I actually asked my doctor if they thought it was a great idea and she said that Dr. Brian Gay is "excellent" and she highly recommended. read more

I had an extremely good experience with First Look MRI in their Hoschton location during my first visit and again just two weeks ago at the new Brookhaven-area location. (Whole Foods shopping center.) The new facility is clean, attractive and inviting. The staff was kind and professional and the experience overall was very easy. The MRI machine itself wasn't enclosed, so no claustrophobia and with pillows and music everything went quickly and I was out the door. The $399 price was certainly better than using insurance and going through my doctor's office and they didn't even require a referral. The best part was the video sent afterwards by the doctor explaining in detail what he saw upon examining the images of my shoulder. I was able to share this information with my orthopedic surgeon who determined a diagnosis. If anyone needs an MRI quickly, accurately and professionally, I'd highly recommend First Look MRI. read more

Great experience at First Look! The facility was top notch and the MRI techs were fantastic. They made sure to explain everything, putting my mind at ease, asked me my favorite type of music and gave me head phones to wear during the MRI. After they were done they gave me a disc with all the images, which the first doctor I went to asked me if I had, so I was glad they had given it to me! I elected to get the concierge service and within the hour the radiologist sent me a video of the MRI and called me to explained everything about the MRI. He was very thorough, and took time to answer all of my questions. Once the doctor I was going to see saw the video he was very impressed with the detail. Great experience. Needed a MRI for my right shoulder. $399 much better than my deductible with my insurance. Called on Thursday and had an appointment for the next day. Check in was fine and the Tech was great. In and out in less than an hour with a copy of the images on CD. They said they would send my doctor the report. Later in the day I got an email with a pdf of the report and a mp4, including verbal comments from the doctor, as he reviewed the MRI. He pointed out the good and not so good parts of my shoulder. Great experience at this place. Neurologist ordered an MRI but scheduling was the longest waiting game. Insurance approved the MRI but couldn't tell me even an estimate on cost. I decided to bypass all of it and get my brain scan at First Look in Brookhaven. It was simple and easy, I got the results within hours (without even paying extra for the quick turnaround) and my primary care provider said the report was written really well. She was impressed and so am I. They're really nice too, clean facility, lots of parking, and the wide bore machine was an added bonus. I'd definitely go there again. read more
