I used Outback Leather in 2016 for a repair. To this day I'm still very appreciative of their work…read moreand realized I never wrote a review so here I am. I have been using a very cool looking leather key fob ever since I got it as a souvenir in Italy back in 2002. It looks like a miniature whip (don't ask ;-)) and I love it because I can easily feel the fringe part in the bottomless pit of my purse. In fact, it's actually very hard to misplace my keys because of this distinctive fringe. Anyway, a couple years ago I noticed the leather piece that attaches the metal keyring to the leather handle of the whip was starting to tear. I went to a couple places to see if they could repair it and came up empty handed. Then, finally, it completely tore. I tried jerry-rigging it back together but it looked like crap, didn't hold together, it just didn't work. Oh, well, all good things come to an end, so I put my keys on a "normal" key fob. Ugh, that was when I started misplacing my keys. What a pain!!!! The other bad part was having my favorite key fob sitting useless in a drawer. I couldn't part with it but I also dislike keeping broken things. Double ugh. People write "Ron is amazing" or some other accolade. Believe it! I found Outback Leather on a Google search. Somewhere it said they could do any leather repair, big or small, no matter how weird. I had nothing to lose. As soon as I walked in I felt like I was in a time machine and had gone back to bygone days. Remember the days when people actually had things repaired and very little was thrown away? I do. There are tools of the trade everywhere... piles of scrap leather, old projects, new projects, relics of the horse racing days at Laurel Racetrack, big old wooden workbenches, industrial leather sewing machine. I can go on for days. It's like a working museum. I wish I could be a fly-on-the-wall because I LOVE watching people make and create stuff. So Ron looks at my key fob and says this is nothing. In less than 10 minutes he had it repaired! He could have done it quicker if he didn't talk on the phone then greet another client. Not only did he match the color of the torn piece of leather but he even matched the texture of it, too. Then there was the "entertainment". What a wonderful, knowledgeable businessman. He explained all the different steps he was doing, even telling me the different ways he could have done it. We even talked about running a small business (which I also do), growing up in PG county and how he got started in business. It's going to be a sad day when he retires. No one around here has his skill nor knowledge base. What a treasure he and his business is!!!

Since I did not know their process, I called first. The process for drop-offs/fittings and pick-ups is scheduled through the website. While on the call, I asked some questions and was provided with a good amount of information to feel confident about scheduling the appointment. The website scheduling process was simple. On the day that I dropped off my garment, the process was pretty quick. I tried on the item and we discussed the alterations. I think the entire visit was about 10-15 minutes. We discussed when I wanted to pick it up, as well as pricing and payment options. We verbally set a pickup day, but it also required a scheduled appointment, so I immediately set a specific appointment for a few days later. When I picked up the item, I tried it on and the alterations were exactly what I wanted. Needless to say, I am pleased with the alterations. I would definitely return.
