He attended one year of preschool, one year of kinder supplement and continued to go once a week in first grade for reading tutoring. He loves reading and is years above his grade level. My daughter started Kiner Prep when she was 2.5 years old, since we totally sold. She is now in kindergarten, still attends in the afternoon as a supplement and is reading at a second grade level. Her math is the end of a first grade level. The best part is that both my kids LOVED going- there was never a groan or complaint- ever. We have also attended summer class offerings that were very helpful to bridge the gap. Miss Andrea is amazing and a very talented teacher. I would trust her with my child anytime, anywhere. She has an ability to create a loving and safe environment for children to prosper.

We decided to send our daughter here and put a $1000 deposit down and there was a waitlist. We decided to not send her that year, but for the following year. No one had told us that we would lose our $1000 deposit, nor did they tell us we needed to put down another $1000 again to hold my daughters place on another waitlist. After phone calls and emails to get her enrolled no one has ever gotten back to me. I had spoken to the director, Michelle and she never got back to me if there's room or if my daughter would even go to this school. No communication at all! This school didn't have a problem cashing my $1000 check but they have a problem with how they treat people that want to enroll their children there. After 5 months of complaining, they magically have an opening. My husband said, "do you really trust them with our child?" My thoughts are no. I'm a strong believer in "everything starts from the top". If the director of the school sets that kind of tone for the school, I'm not interested. I don't think anyone else should be either.

We approached this with inquiry and asked the director about it. She admitted to us directly that she often uses a loud voice. We explained it alarmed our boys and asked that she be more aware of how her behavior/yelling impacts the class of young kids. Nothing changed. After a few more weeks, our boys shared the discipline approach. They explained that children were told to "sit on the wall" when they didn't listen or follow directions. Again, we asked Misty directly what this was about. She explained it as a "break," but it was clear from our boys that it was used as a punitive and public time out (which differs from their handbook policy). Sadly our boys often came home to share stories of different children being told to sit on the wall, and that their crying and sadness bothered them. One of the more serious concerns was learning that outdoor time is often unsupervised. The teacher(s) use this time to cook/prep in the kitchen and although there is a window and sliding glass door, they are not outdoors providing close supervision (with children ages 2-5). This is a serious licensing safety concern. Finally, screen time is a frequent activity at this site. We expressed our concern after learning one Friday the children watched 2 full length Disney movies, and it was dismissed. These are all things we wish we had known before enrolling. Our boys worked hard to earn the admiration of Misty and frequently expressed fear of her and sadness for the children who often were yelled at/or reprimanded. I'd urge anyone considering this in-home daycare to ask many questions and check in with their child often. Beautiful artwork will come home... and know there may be much more going on throughout the day that you may not approve of.

I have always had peace of mind dropping my kids off at Tigard Knowledge Beginnings because they are happy to go and come back with all kinds of stories. As full-time working parents, we could not have the careers we have without this amazing facility. And I want to give an extra shout out to Ms. Suha and Ms. Dani who have taken care of both of my babies with such love!! Also, some of the older reviews are horrible and false. I intentionally chose this facility after touring multiple because it was the cleanest and most colorful one. Although childcare is expensive in general, I wish I could give even more money to these wonderful people who take care of the most important thing in my life.

She basically hung up on me and didn't say one word about whether or not I could reapply. Lady, why are so rude? Original: My son has been a student at OCA for over a year without issue. I never had a single concern or complaint. I loved & trusted them completely. Things took a turn for the worst when a new teacher (Tosha) joined the school & I personally witnessed her verbally assault two 2 year old girls in the wobbler/toddler room. Full-blown shouting at them to not touch her shoes, scaring them. Once she realized that I'd witnessed this, the entire tone of her voice changed to baby talk & she began to panic/over-compensate about "how great" of a day my son had with her. Suddenly, she was over-the-top nice to me, added me on FB & would send me constant messages while working through FB messenger including photos of my child on her Snapchat despite the school using an app to communicate with parents. My son suddenly became obsessed with my phone & I began to witness behavior changes such as hitting his head out of frustration & an uptick in tantrums. Some in-house drama between Tosha & another employee started up & around this same time, my son was bitten by another child (not a big deal, it happens and I was not upset), but I was hearing unwarranted & drastically different versions of what happened in this instance between Tosha & other team members which made me nervous and weary of being dragged into their already-established drama. Ultimately, Tosha became personally offended by my positive relationships with the other staff members whom I'd grown close with over the past year. She decided to delete me off of Facebook as a result of my indifference to the "he said she said" regarding my son's bite & my reluctance to embrace her version/sing her praises. She began ignoring me completely when I would pick up & drop my son off at school. This toxic behavior continued without correction and eventually bubbled over. On 05/22/23, I witnessed her screaming at the preschool children outside after she had ignored me during pickup once again. I was connected with offsite leadership who did nothing but gaslight me & essentially make clear that they're going to continue to allow an abusive teacher to remain at the school because of desperation/staffing shortages under the guise of "an investigation." My concerns about dropping my son off with a teacher whom I've witnessed be abusive on two separate occasions that may or may not have an issue with me for no reason were downplayed & I was essentially put in a position to either 1) deal with it or 2) leave. Leadership tried to diffuse the situation by remaining diplomatic at surface level but no tangible solution was presented to me at any point despite my positive relationship with the school & the validity of my concerns. Ultimately, I was given no choice but to withdraw my child. The relationship & stability that I have worked so hard to nurture & cultivate for my son have been taken away from me because in reality, it's easier to find a new student than it is to find a new teacher. This experience has been traumatic & it will take me a long time to recover from the cruelty shown to me and my son by the employees at OCA. I do not recommend this center unless you are OK with paying close to 2k/month for abusive staff, passive leadership, miscommunication, high staff turnover and a whole bunch of high school drama. This has been an experience from hell & I hope that no other person or child is exposed to abuse that's rug swept by the same people that I've trusted and treated as family for the past year. The backyard is also fantastic for playing, with lots of toys and equipment, as well as a covered area with a sandbox and water table. They are also working on toilet training the youngest, and are willing to deal with diapers too. I couldn't ask for a better environment for my son.
