Bonds Escape Room - Frightful Feast escape room

We always have an amazing time at Bond's! They make the most interactive and challenging escape…read morerooms in the DMV and offer great prices. They give all sorts of discounts like GMU student and if you book your next escape room after completing one, you get a discount too. The Save the White House escape room was incredibly fun and interactive. The room is full of props and sounds that make the experience more life like. It's also very well designed and incorporates many aspects of Washington D.C. They have free parking on site and are located in the City of Fairfax.

Good and not so good…read more.. On the plus side, the staff was VERY pleasant and helpful. We were greeted with smiles, and all of our questions were answered. After a brief introduction and sharing of their rules, we were ushered into our room, The Cure, for the one-hour puzzle-solving session. That's where the not-so-good part starts. While this was my first visit to Bonds, I've done several, maybe six or seven (I think that's safe to say again) escape rooms before this one. Based on that experience, this was the most basic in terms of room setup and contents. Everything was well used and occasionally overused. Think beat up or threadbare. Combination locks are common in escape rooms, and this one had plenty. If memory serves, there were six or seven of them. It was irritating that some of the locks had their numbers rubbed off, making it difficult to enter the combination, even after we figured out what it should be. Another issue is their use of red herrings. We wasted too much of our hour trying to figure out how they contributed to the ultimate solution. A final issue is that some steps might be solved correctly without a clear indication that anything had changed. For example, you enter a code on a keypad on one side of the room, and a drawer opens somewhere else. If I do decide to try another Bond's escape room, I'll ask to see it first. It's one thing to configure a room to represent part of a hospital or medical laboratory, and another thing entirely to allow it to be so overused that what's left affects my enjoyment of the experience. And as a suggestion to Bond's, replacing a few of the combination locks, probably costing $10 each, would have made things a lot better.

I have asked them to fix or update their equipment since I started there four years ago and they have completely ignored me. I recently moved across the country. I told them In August of 2021 that I would be moving and asked them to stop charging me. They charged me in September, October, and November. In October I asked them again to stop charging me and to refund the charges. They told me they could not do so and then had the audacity to charge me again in November!!! They refuse to refund me and I'm having to dispute the charges with my credit card company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH FOUNDATION FITNESS

Foundation Fitness let me know that they would work with me to find ways to regain strength. Bald Jason has been incredible in helping me the past five months. I went from limited mobility to being able to lift more than I've been able to in years. From Jason's modifications in exercises when needed to his flexibility in modifying days when I'm unable to work on what was planned, I can't recommend Foundation Fitness enough. As a VA transplant, I truly hit the jackpot as a member of this gym family and being able to be trained by the ever optimistic and knowledgeable Bald Jason!

    Kaizen MMA - NEW LOCATION

I used to love this location (Fairfax) of Kaize . However, recent changes have made me decide to…read morepull my kids out and go to a different location. My kids are in the youngest age group (under 7). They used to be taught by adult Sempais, and I could see them gaining skills, self control, respect, etc. But this location recently changed to allowing older kids to serve as Sempais and run the class. These kids don't have any experience with teaching children - they're still children themselves. The focus of classes has shifted from learning skills to just "conditioning" - running, sit-ups, push-ups, etc. And these child instructors just don't have the self-control to serve as instructors. At the end of most classes, the Sensei/Sempai ends with a fun game to conclude on a fun note. But recently, the child Sempai leading a dodgeball-type game got carried away and way too competitive and was throwing the ball full force into little kids' faces. I saw a 4 yr old get slammed in the face (by the Sempai) so hard she fell down. And the Sempai appeared to like it and continued to throw full full force at other 4, 5, and 6 year olds. That was the breaking point for me. The other Kaizen locations are good, and we'll stick to those ones.

Najim, the coach is great. He is very technical in his instructions but still very understanding that it takes time to learn the techniques. Plus he has a strong competitive record: Multiple Sabaki (full contact Enshin Competition) wins and multiple Muay Thai Titles. It should be noted that some of the techniques are modified compared to pure Muay Thai to more of a Dutch style of Muay Thai. The classes run one hour, with about 10 minutes of warm up and stretching, about 40 minutes of technique training, and then about 10 minutes of calisthenics at the end. The varieties of techniques vary class to class ranging from the very basics to sparring for the more experience students. Also available are: Children and Adult Karate - I don't know a ton about these but have seen Najim coaching the children's classes and the kids seem to be learning alot of good techniques and still having a ton of fun. Also Enshin Karate, being a combination of kickboxing and Judo, does teach many techniques that are very real world usable should the students need them in an actual self defense situation. Gracie Jiu Jitsu - These classes are taught by Toney Waldecker, a blackbelt under Relson Gracie, son of Helio Gracie - the inventor of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. I don't know a lot about these classes either but Toney seems to be a very good trainer and Relson visits the dojo a few times a year it seems.
