Never EVER book your vacation with this company! I tried to leave a review--THEY sent me after our…read morerecent stay at the Blacker House, Manistee, Michigan, but they deleted the entire thing! They only left my title and one star. This company is a total scam. They have photos of the property that only resemble the property itself. Let me explain that we had a family reunion in Manistee on the 4th of July, and had booked it we THOUGHT through VRBO, almost a year in advance 2025 for 8.5K however once I received the email, I merely followed the link. Also note, Manistee gets booked solid annually every year since the early 1930's so when we arrived and saw the condition of the place we had ZERO options to stay elsewhere. We had a family reunion. We had to try and make the best of it. On VERBO photos show VACASA as the managing partner with pristine manicured lawn and garden all around the property. They had a strict no smoking rule on the entire property as well as strict no partying rule. The photos showed staged beds-all with beautiful quilts and pillows. The large dining table with a lovely table cloth. When we arrived the lawn was ankle deep and the garden overgrown to the extent it looked like a haunted house. The garbage close to the entrance in multiple garbage pails were over flowing and flies were infesting and just everywhere as we walked up to the entry. We unlocked the door, there were two entry doors, one knob came off. The floor and stairs were filthy. There was actual dried poop in the only downstairs toilet with various implants stuck in it. The dining table was broken, no tablecloth. The bathrooms staged, not cleaned. When I picked up the silicone hair trap in one tub the sludgy hair mass that hung from it was gag producing. Two beds had nothing but sheets. Nothing else. Curtains were grimy, filthy and on bent temporary rods. When we attempted to call for help--good luck. You do not reach anyone local who owns the property or who cares for the property. You just reach their customer service that gives platitudes and do nothing. When I asked for only a partial refund they gave me --get this $250 cleaning fund back. YEAH THANKS! It was NEVER CLEANED, of course they had to give me my cleaning fund back! They flatly refused any other credit for compensation for FIXING THEIR TOILET FULL OF FECES OURSELVES! Or for CLEANING THE HOUSE OURSELVES! Or for not being able to use the yard to play all the games we brought because it was so overgrown! What we saw in the ad, what we paid for was NOTHING like what we got! BEWARE OF THESE SCAM ARTISTS!

The cabin rental prices seem good until you reserve it then all of the add on costs take the price way up. Once they had my credit card number they would just charge prior to my approval. After going back and forth with them over the price they agreed to give us a discount so we reserved a cabin for that weekend. When we arrived at the cabin, which was very nicely decorated, we found it to be very cold. We saw that the wall heat and air units were both on to run at max temp but the cabin was still very cold. We lit the fireplace hoping that would help warm the cabin. It did not help much. The cabin was so cold we went to bed that night with the two blankets we brought and all of our cloths on to try to stay warm and sleep. We did not sleep much due to being so cold. When we got up in the morning we just packed and left as there was no way the cabin was going to warm to a comfortable level. This was not how we expected to spend our anniversary weekend. I notified the Rental office about the situation and that we had to leave due to the cabin being so cold. It was too cold to even consider taking a shower. I informed the rental company that the only cleaning needed would be to change sheets and wipe down the toilet area as that cabin was too cold to do anything else. I expected to see some kind of response with some consideration for a refund of some kind since the cabin was actually uninhabitable. There has been no response since. I even then requested at least some refund toward the cleaning, the add on, charges since there was nothing to clean. With the add on for cleaning and linen charge plus having paid for three nights and only staying one. We should be entitled to some refund since the cabin was not in staying condition. Beware, Only rent from Legacy Mountain Life Getaway if you are willing to take all risks and beware of all of the add on costs.

When we arrived late that evening the house was cold and dark and even then it smelled of pet odor. The next morning we noticed pet hair everywhere in the return ventilation on the floor, curtains, towels ,blankets ,beds it was nasty. But we had appointments to be at so we said we will deal with it later.Upon our return to relax we noticed that there were only two towels no problem we will just wash them as we need them. The washer and dryer set wasn't working so when we called we finally spoke to the maintenance on call said it's a timer issue as many time before . Sorry for the ramble but needless to say out of three showers in the place the only one clean enough to use was downstairs in the basement area where the heat didn't work. I could tell you about the floaters in the hot tub and the nasty curtains but you can go see for yourself if you wanna gamble Morning Breeze said they were sorry and would be happy to refund 100 $ for the inconveniences I declined . From finding me my perfect new home to helping get my closing done on time. If I emailed/texted/called with a question, I never had to wait long for an answer. Like I said, I can't stop singing her praises! I used a different local realty company for the sale of my other home. I wish I had contacted Coldwell Banker High Country first. I would have had a better experience. The other realtor would take up to 3-5 days before she ever acknowledged any question I had on my pending sale. I was constantly left hanging. I never had to wait for a response from Teresa or the friendly people in the office. Go see them!
