First Capital Connect is the shorter, fatter, uglier sister of Southern Railways. It gets you from Brighton to London and back but not with quite as much comfort and style as it's more refined relative.
That said, I probably use it more often than it's shiny sister due to the fact it goes in to London Bridge which quite often seems to be far more convenient for where I want to be in the city. The tickets are a little cheaper, although still vastly overpriced as is all public transport in this country, and it tends to be a little slower - approx 70 mins as opposed to 55 mins to Victoria with Southern.
FFC may not be the prettiest of the siblings, but she is far more compassionate and friendly, and gets my vote most of the time! read more
