As soon as we pulled up in the rental car, an employee came dashing out with a wheelchair, ready to help. They took her back while my hubby and I filled out paperwork and the security forms. This is a very safe and secure facility: they photograph everyone who comes in and they also check I.D. This made me feel very safe, especially since it was around 11 pm at night. I went back to check on my mom and I was blown away with how nice the exam room was! They even had mood lighting and music, and it was Disney themed. Periodically, Ariel and Flounder would "swim" by on the wall. This calmed her a lot, and I could see it really helping children who found themselves in an ER. It did take a while for mom to get seen, but the quality of doctors was excellent. Most of them were quite young, but they didn't seem inexperienced. After a couple of hours, then took her out for x-rays. The X-ray room was great, too! It had magical "twinkling" stars on the ceiling, and a teddy bear to just bring joy. Again, this would be excellent for kids. As I was talking to one of the nurses, he told me that everyone on staff must attend and graduate a Disney class in customer service. It was almost like the staff was picked from cast members, they were SO GOOD. Overall, we were in the ER for around 4.5 hours, leaving around 3 am. It did take a while, but I feel like my mom got excellent care. They gave her a sling and pain meds, which they called in and we had filled at the Publix pharmacy right by our hotel. The staff made it as easy as they could in what was a very unfortunate situation. Nobody wants to get hurt on vacation, but this ER really, really helped make a bad situation much better. I decided to call my local HmO and they were able to transfer the prescription to the Walgreens closest to this advent health location. I got vanned over (again) from a nice gentleman named Billy who literally parked and waited there for me to complete my transaction until he received his next call in case I was done sooner. To my luck, I was and was vanned over again to magic kingdom within the same hour as arriving. Omar and Billy both made what could have been an awful experience a great one. This all happened on a regular Wednesday and the Team probably sees hundreds of injuries a week, yet makes each customer/patient feel seen and heard. I especially appreciate being told all options before feeling like I just got jipped by advent. The drivers, employees, and front desk made me feel important and was very understanding. The practice itself is the most unprofessional medical facility I have ever been in, and the way it treats its patients is unacceptable. They only care about money. They tell you what something will cost up front and then bill you hundreds of dollars more later. They talk down to you and make you feel like a number instead of a person. The practice has changed how it operates. You get 15 minutes a visit with the MD/NP and now you must see multiple providers at different times, so you are forced to pay for multiple visits. I have never heard of anything like it, especially when you are only there for refill appts. I'm in menopause. Before I started seeing my PCP/NP for BHRT, my OB/GYN who moved out of state, prescribed my hormone replacement medication. It took three years of trial and error to find what works for me. My NP now does my annual women's exam but will not write my hormone prescriptions. I have to come back on a different day and see a different provider in an office setting not exam room. It takes five minutes, because I've been on BHRT treatment for years and only need refills. My insurance statement showed I was there five to ten minutes at most, yet I was charged for a 30-minute visit, over $300. That is unacceptable, especially since my NP wrote these prescriptions before this new rule and she is the one who performs my gynecological care. Apart from my NP and the woman at the front desk who takes your information, the staff are uneducated on the latest medical laws and information, unprofessional, and unhelpful. I am tired of being quoted one price in advance and charged more after my visit. I should not have to see two providers when one already handles my gynecological care, just to get a prescription written. Do yourself a favor and never go here.
