Extremely disappointed. Everything seemed fine until looking at installation dates then zero contact. Sent maybe 15 emails without a reply. 20+ phone calls but have not been answered once. Avoid first4solar. I wish I had please do not make the same mistake I did read more

Abysmal service. Waited over 6 months for the installation with zero contact from the company. They then failed to show up on the agreed upon installation dates on 3 separate occasions! In the end I had no option to cancel the order. I will update the review if I receive the refund for my deposit in a timely fashion. DO NOT waste your time or money dealing with this company! read more

Read the other reviews sadly I didn't - Stay away from First4Solar! I paid my first deposit in April 2022. The second deposit for extra batteries in Nov 2022 (which had to be paid urgently). They arranged 6 dates for fittings, on each occasion no one arrived, no notice was given why they were not going to attend, and no apology or reason was given. After 1 year of failed appointments, I requested a refund of the £10063 and was assured it would be in my account within 14 Days by Keely Kirkaldy (Customer services) on chasing this after 14 days I was told to contact accounts direct which I have done twice (no reply). I have also been asked to raise a ticket on their new system, all of which seems like delaying tactics. I have been in contact with Daniel Hawkins (director) and David Hawkins (director and father of Daniel) both of which have promised to arrange the fittings neither of which have achieved it. David Hawkins has informed be that they are a victim of their own success and that although retired he has gone back to work to try and address the situation and help his son. No one at First4solar is answering my calls or emails. The people there all seems to be nice people, but they don't call back when they say they are going to, seem unable to arrange a fitting for solar and even processing a refund seems to be impossible to achieve. Basic customer service is lacking. I was also told by Daniel when I highlighted the reviews on here that many of the reviews were vexatious by an ex-director. My experience is genuine and would expect most others are too. Stay away ! Vaughan read more

NO MCS ACCREDITATION. As of 7/2/2023. First4Solar / Tanrec Ltd. No longer have MCS accreditation. Put short and simple. They should NOT be installing at all as they're not certified to do so. HIES have suspended them. NAPIT have also suspended them. Request your money back ASAP and do not let them install anything as they cannot certify it and you will not get any insurance backed warranties & no MCS paperwork which is very important! read more

Still no contact from First4Solar as to why they didn't bother coming on our rescheduled install date. I'm concerned for other customers too and have set up a facebook group called Last4Solar so that we can share our experiences and hopefully help each other. read more

TanRec t/a First4Solar --- Untrustworthy, uncommunicative, evasive, disorganised, overcommitted and generally useless. Avoid at all costs. Had an install a year or so ago; the inverter fell off the wall a few weeks later and needed to be fixed. The aftercare support is absent. Phoned up; can't find my account. Needed to expand my battery storage, contacted First4Suckers who did the initial install; paid a deposit but 4 months later with various missed deadlines and awful comms, I've given up with this shambles of a company and i'm now struggling to get refunded. (Despite being approved in writing from their director, a month later nothing) The only process they've got working is the Sales pitch and getting money out of people. read more

Shocking company, having ordered back in January and had to pay a 25% deposit up front, I have still received nothing short of a shambles at my expensive and no installation up until May which is when I drew the line and requested to cancel . Appointments missed. Installation dates changed with me having to chase everything up every step of the way. It has cost me many holiday days waiting in for them to not turn up! I have had to chase it every step of the way if and when you can get through to them of course!!!! On the flip side if you're a new enquiry their service is great until you hand over your money. I have since left a review and I was threatened by the managing director to remove it. They even offered me my refund sooner if I removed said reviews... Blackmail at it's finest. Avoid first 4 solar at all costs. I have had to post this under a different name to avoid the threats which will come for warning others of these bunch of crooks! read more

DONT PLACE ORDERS with this company they will not deliver We placed and order in June 2022 with a promise of installation late summer. All good. No contact from First4Solar all summer, so in late August 2022 contacted 'installations' through the phone to be told that it was now delayed to November 21st. I was very annoyed by this, due to not being informed, but with no option accepted. Again no communication from this point so called a week before installation to ask when the scaffolding will be installed, to be told that the scaffolding would be there on Friday before install (18th), no one arrived, so contacted installations to be told that it wasn't scheduled after all, the scaffolding team didn't even have it on their list! They promised to investigate and call back. They didn't call, So I chase again to be told the install had been cancelled due to extreme weather (which was not forecast, it was a mild and quite sunny day) but they would reschedule and let me know the following Wednesday. The following Thursday still no communication, called to be told they couldn't schedule due to the team being ill but would reschedule the following Wednesday. They did not contact me so again I called back after a week to be told it would not be scheduled due to ill health of the install team (again) it could now not be installed until 18th January. They promised they would email to confirm - they did not. I suspect when I call in early January the 18th install date will have been cancelled too. Do not believe the good pre-sales, this company is not running a professional business. Awful customer service, awful post-sales treatment. Take your money elsewhere. I have made a formal complaint to the company but have yet to get a reply. I would be very happy to speak to the company representatives or Company Director to prevent escalation of this matter. read more

Because they didn't honour their contract and didn't communicate about it, and also blatantly lied, I wrote bad reviews. They got annoyed, cancelled my contract (apparently) by phone call and promised to refund the money. These was yet another lie as I didn't see my deposit back. Using chargeback now. These people should be in jail. Like the others reviews: STAY AWAY! read more

The whole experience has been shocking! I was promised a certain brand of solar pannels (Sun Power) and it was confirmed that those were in stock when I signed the agreement and transferred the deposit (February 2022). I had the impression that, like for other products, paying the deposit will secure me those pannels, but that wasn't the case as I later discovered. After 6 months of chaising and chaising every step of the way, I was told those pannels are not in stock and they will not be available for another year. If I would have been told that from the beginning I would have made a different decision about chosing the company. Also, the design team was not professional at all. It took many weeks for the design to reflect my requirements, and only after I provided a sketch of the pannel disposition. after having the design approved I had to chaise repeatedly for an installation date and only then I was told that the pannels I paid for are not available and it would take a year or more to have them. That was the whole reason I chose the company. After beeing promised a lead time of 8-10 weeks from deposit to installation with pannels in stock at that time, and realising that 6 months down the line the pannels were not in stock and will not be in for another year, I decided to cancel the agreement. 3 months later I still haven't received the deposit back although I have been chaising it on a weekly basis. This whole experience has been incredibly frustrating, and it continues to be. I feel I have been lied to from the very begining and I did not receive the high quality services I was promised and expected. I would not recommend this company. Extremely unprofessional and not trustworthy. read more

January 2022 to 20th December 2022 * I signed a contract in January 2022 with the installation scheduled for May, this installation was cancelled. * The installation was re-scheduled and 'guaranteed' to take place in August. This was also cancelled. * A new date of October was set, this was again cancelled. I contacted the arbitrator who First4Solar recommend, this is HIES. HIES asked me to send a written complaint by recorded delivery to First4Solar, the letter was ignored. * I was told that Daniel would now personally deal with the installation, after several calls Daniel committed to call me back in 30 minutes, I never received the call back. * Keely assured me that installation was 'red-ringed' for December 12th. Scaffolding was put on December 10th December. The 12th was cancelled to the 14th then the 19th and then to the New Year, all at very short notice. * Only on one occasion have the company contacted me about the cancellations, I have had to contact them to find out what is happening on every other occasion. I have been promised call backs that don't happen and emails that don't arrive. I was told yesterday that First4Solar have lots of people waiting for over a year for installation and that I would receive an email from Jake by 3pm to give me a date for the installation, that hasn't arrived. * Jake offered to refund my deposit. I don't like companies signing legally binding contracts, failing to fulfil them and then try to get out of their commitment with impunity. * Really disappointing after the sales team were so helpful. I posted this review TrustPilot review on 21st December. 21st December 2022 to 12th January 2023 * First4Solar rang me two hours after the TrustPilot post (21st Dec) and gave me an installation date of 11th January 2023. * I received a further call from First4Solar a few hours later, I received an apology was told that a Christmas gift of wine & cheese would be sent (it arrived a few days later) and asked if I would take down the TrustPilot review to give First4Solar chance to put things right and install on 11th January, I agreed to remove the post. I was told that if the installation didn't go ahead on the 11th Keely, in the Customer Service Team, would write the TrustPilot review for me. * I contact First4Solar on 10th January to note that we were ready for the installation the following day, I was told that the team would be on site on 11th January as planned. * By 3pm on 11th January no fitters had arrived, I rang First4Solar to ask when the team would arrive, I was told that Kelly would call me back after her meeting finished, the call never came. * It's now past 1pm on 12th January, no one from First4Solar has contacted me and no fitters have arrived. * I have contacted HIES, my solicitors and re-posted this review on TrustPilot read more

Quite simply the worst customer experience I have ever had in 30 years of buying products and services! Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere for anything you are planning to buy from them. I was promised goods which they were unable to source, and after two months of discussions and 4 missed install dates, they then informed me that I had to pay more if I wanted it because the original product was unattainable. I feel like I've spent the first part of this year going back and forth, chasing them down, trying to get a suitable response or any response for that matter. The operations team run by Aron, is the most absurdly ridiculous run department you will ever have the misfortune of encountering. This company is unwavering in their commitment to be the least responsive and worst customer-focused company in the world. Bravo chaps, you succeeded! read more

Recently I had a lot of contact from the company who is trying to fix the issue. I understand that there were some unfortunate circumstances. The refund + compensation is on the way and furthermore I was promised an offer hard to resist. I hope that all will end well and I can give 5 stars when its completed. read more

If I could chose 0 stars, I would. Placed my order in Jan 2022. My new build was due for completion in summer so I wanted to lock down the prices. When we moved into the property I informed First4Solar and the gave me a 12wk installation date of 13th & 14th December. They cancelled less than 24hours the day before. After numerous phone calls of being told the installation team was in a scheduling meeting I was given a new install date of 26th & 27th Jan 2023. My phone rang once then I received a lengthy email stating the installation wasn't possible. By this point the cost for using another company had increased so I gave First4Solar 1 more chance. I was told the installation was on the 6/7th March and wouldn't be moved or cancelled. I predicted, it was cancelled, so I asked for a full refund. I was initially told that because 14 days has passed since my deposit l, I wasn't entitled. I was then called by the Director, Daniel, he told me he had me booked in for the 8th March. Up for a laugh l, I said go on then. Wednesday comes and no scaffolders, no installation team and I get a promise of a full refund and compensation for 6 days leave wasted. Three weeks has gone by and my calls are either being ignored or I'm told they will leave a message and get back to me. NO ONE EVER GETS BACK TO YOU!!! I'm now in contact with the deposit protection company to claim back what I can. read more

NO After Sales Service. Very Nice and easy people to deal with initially until they get their money and then they don't want to know you anymore. The main sales person (Dan) does not even answer my calls !! I have my panels installed on two sides of my roof and one side doesn't work very well and I cannot get them to come and check to see what is wrong. As far as they are concerned the job is done and dealt with. read more

Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with First4solar. 5 months after signing the contract my solar installation (the solaredge part) is still not properly installed and First4solar have ignored all my emails and phone calls for over 3 months now. There are many issues I could list such as having to connect up the system to wifi by myself, their putting the panels on the wrong roof(!), not connecting 5 panels and failing to turn up repeatedly (despite explicit promises they would be arriving early). I had scaffolding up, blocking doors as well as sited in my neighbour's garden for over 3 weeks (the initial promise was a maximum of 3 days). The most disappointing aspect however was the company's refusal to put things right for the customer, initially offering me compensation for having to take so many days off work, but then refusing when I made the claim. If you do your research (like I should have done!), Companies House shows that this company was liquidated recently and is now actually Tanrec trading as First4solar. Whatever you decide, note that there are many, many companies installing solar panels, don't take any chances, go for a company which has a really good record for customer service and is willing to put things right should issues arise. You can't guarantee that every job will run perfectly but you should be able to rely on the company putting things right for you if they go wrong. One last point, this company uses a centrallised, call centre, so every time you need to call them about anything, you call their number, get through to a central receptionist who can only take your number and a message. This slows things down considerably, and in my case, means that I have not been able to speak to anyone from First4Solar for over 3 moths despite leaving messages with the receptionist. Personally, I would not recommend this company. read more

Had a 16 panel system installed in May 2014. In the summer of 2017 realised we were not generating any electricity. Contacted the company and eventually they came out assessed the situation and informed us the Growatt Inverter was not working and would need to be replaced (this is the most importent part of the system). They replaced the failed inverter and we had to pay labour charge of £180 as Inverter out of 2yr warranty. This summer the system went down again. called the company and was assured, through telephone answering centre they would get in touch. They didn't so called again and eventually someone called back, explained the problem, they said they would come back within the hour. Seven days later and still awaiting the call. Have got a local firm in, the fault has been identified, problem being solved as we speak and we are soon to be up and running again and able to remotely check the system is working on a daily or weekly basis. Especially important if Inverter is in loft. Over the two failures we have lost at least 3 months electricity generation and £200 FiT refunds each year. The Warranty of 10 years is not worth the paper it is printed on as far as customer service is concerned. Go local. read more

Sorry to say I'm not very happy with this firm. I had their solar panels fitted in Spring 2015 and they have only collected 277 units during 6 months of summer. I complained and in early summer, around about May or June they sent down a team to investigate. They said "the job of installation was poor." However, they pressed some buttons and the panels started to work. I 'phoned the firm (I think I spoke to Daniel?) and he said that they were looking to see if some compensation could be paid to me. I waited but I had no further communication afterwards. Then I was out of the country from 1/7 2015 for nearly 10 weeks and was unable to check if the system was working. When I returned 15/9/2015 I found that the system was not working and there was a red light was on the electricity connection next to my meter. There was no sound and nothing was flashing. I have 'phoned the company today and they say that someone from their complaints department will phone me back. I am still waiting for their call. I will be taking very strong recovery action if no remedial action is not taken by 1/10/2015. Terry Siddall. read more

don't recommend this Company. This is a very short description of what's happened: After getting a quote from First4Solar in early 2021 they have sent a surveyor to check what can be done. I told the surveyor that I want to install as many solar panels as possible and he stated that 12 panels can be installed on my roof. I have paid deposit and on 9 April I was told that the installation will be on 11 April 2021 and that I need to pay in full before that day. Once I have paid in full they called me next day and told me that they don't have the solar panels I wanted and offered me some other unknown brand panels but I really wanted LG all black so I insisted to get these. Since then every 4-6 weeks I was told that they will get these panels shortly and scheduled another installation date. But every single time few days before installation they told me that they don't have my panels and that they will get them in about 4-6 weeks. Few of the times they scheduled installation date so I had to cancel all of my plans to stay home but nobody came or informed me before at all. I had to spend countless hours on writing complaint emails, calling them, Trading Standards, Citizens Advice Beauro and writing letter or complaints to HIES, First4Solar. Finally, in October 2021 thanks to the HIES I did have received my solar panels. When they arrived, driver told me that I need to help him to unload the van because First4Solar had sent heavy load in a van with just one person so I had to drop all of my work and spend over 1hr unloading the van. I had a bad back and had inguinal hernia surgery in past so I probably should refuse but I was waiting so long that I didn't wanted to risk waiting another few months to get this sorted. Roofer was booked on Friday to install the panels but he didn't come. Few days later when he finally arrived, he said that the First4Solar had failed to inform him about the job on Friday. When the roofer attempted to install the panels, he told me that I can easily fit 16 solar panels instead of 12 on my roof. I was not happy because I have clearly told surveyor that I want as many as possible. Since the First4Solar electrician was booked in next 7 days and I have not received any reply from this company I have purchased additional panels myself but few days later I have received an email from First4Solar that they have not filled G99 application and that I will need to wait up to 45 days until my system go working. 90 days later I was told that thy can actually install a limiter to get my system working and once that application arrive back they will remove limiter. Nothing happened and I had to call them and insist for an installation so my system was finally installed over 9 months later then it should be. My solar panels lifespan was shortened by over 3 months because they were installed on my roof but they were not generated any electricity for me! Unfortunately, after I got my solar panels working there was another problem because I have also paid in full for an 8Kw battery that was not supplied so I've asked for a refund for that battery and First4Solar was not keen to give me any money. I had to prepare and sent them an official letter (2nd) regarding that battery refund and only because of the HIES help I did manage to get my funds back. That was horrible experience full of stress and never ending lies and problems. Please read other people reviews and think twice before dealing with this Company and if you do please never ever pay before the job is done! You have been warned so don't make that mistake! read more

After posting the below review on 14/2/22 First4Solar immediately contacted me saying that they wished to resolve this issue and would do so if I removed said review from Trustpilot. I agreed to do so once the work was complete ~ much to their dissatisfaction as poor reviews cost them money. My outstanding batteries were delivered and an engineer sent out to install so all seemed to be heading in the right direction, I received one of two lots of completion paperwork and an appointment was arranged for an electrician to be sent to site to fix the Zappi issues, at this point under pressure from their management and veiled threats of legal action against myself? I reluctantly removed the review, unsurprisingly they then cancelled my appointment and despite several requests/emails it seems our issues have been disregarded yet again. So as it stands, my car chargers still don't function properly, I have no completion paperwork for one site and to compound matters my solar system is only functioning at 50% since the install of the new batteries (one of the inverters which controls 12 panels goes into error mode as soon as the sun shines!) Hence my decision to re-instate this review, my opinion of this company has not changed for the better. Where to start... I purchased two systems from this company way back in September 2019, one for my office, one for my home, neither of which are complete / fully functional. Despite numerous attempts and many many failed promises I am still chasing completion. The transaction was paid in full prior to installation starting (my mistake) so no excuse on monies owed. The office building was a straightforward solar installation with electric car charging facility, unfortunately the contractor has no experience of the Zappi units or wiring them to a 3 phase supply, hence the units work but we are unable to charge them with green energy alone, one of the main reasons for the purchase. The home installation was a solar installation with electric car charging and a battery back up supply, the issue here being only 2 of 5 batteries purchased have ever been delivered and installed. We have chased constantly been given false promises regards delivery even once a scheduled fitting date only for no one to appear, the latest promise prior to Christmas 2021 was for delivery by the end of January, this was relayed through their complaints department, a department I think was out sourced as it seems to no longer exist, but as you can perhaps guess nothing again has shown up. We have called three times within the last seven days only to be fobbed off with the normal `no one available I will get someone to call you back` ~ which they never ever do. Neither system has been signed off or any form of certification issued. My advice to you if you are thinking of making a solar purchase is to go elsewhere, in over 30 years of trading with many companies across the UK and Europe First4Solar are the worst company in regards to customer service I have ever come across. I have all the evidence in emails and recorded conversations if I have to pursue a legal route to get a resolution but it shouldn`t be like this, I just want the job finished and what I paid for, I think even bearing covid in mind 2 years 4 months is long enough. Hopefully if you have signed up with this company you do not suffer the same fate. read more

Use at your own Risk They promise alot, but do not deliver, i had a battery system from them it took almost 4 months for them to install it, worse still it took 9 appointments, 5 of them having to use annual leave and the 5 were no shows, whats more annoying is with 4 of them they did not have the decency to make me aware apart from one i got an email stating they will not be able to come tomorrow, it was to late to cancel my annual leave so a wasted day, on the other ones its only when i am calling them on the day i either get a crappy email or some excuse that it was not booked in, until the 7th appointment they never had the battery in stock so i had wasted time off and annual leave. They quick enough to want payment but very slow to deliver. During this whole process i got excuse after excuse, wrong part delivered that the engineer did not know which delayed it further, i was on the verge or taking them to court if i did not get my money back. Finally got an engineer who knew what to do but it still took 2 further appointments to get it working. Daniel promised compensation because of the issues that i had once it was completed, weeks later still nothing, emails and phone calls ignored, my last email stated i will be seeking advice which prompted a threatening email telling me that if i do they will come and remove items they installed. I complained to the Director David, who apologised and said he would speak to Daniel and sort out the £500 compensation. I did get an email from Daniel with an apology, how sincere it was i will not know, I waited and waited for this compensation i was promised, started sending emails as weeks went by, then a month, my last email David responded on the 13th Dec stating "I'm not sure why you continue to write given that I've confirmed my willingness to pay you as a courtesy £500.00." Thats the last i heard and guess what still no refund after 2 months, its a shame as i wanted next year to expand my system and another battery as when the work is done its to a good standard but that is due to one of their engineers, They not getting any more business off me when they cannot keep there promises, as promises show the true char of people if they do what they say they will do, if the promise was honored i would review this review, but ive already done it once when i was promised the compensation, read more

After researching the internet to find the best solar panel installation companies, I finally opted for First 4 Solar. The company provided a detailed quotation very quickly and were very competitively priced. We had a 6.8kWp system installed in May 2018 and it has performed faultlessly since then. The array consists of 24 panels positioned across two roof lines. It was installed in one day and commissioned the day after. Since then, our electricity bill has reduced dramatically and we are receiving regular payments now under the Feed in Tariff. A couple of days ago, our Solar Edge monitoring tripped out and while our electricity generation was unaffected, we were unable to see the results for the previous 2 - 3 days. I contacted the folks at First 4 Solar who, responded immediately with advice on how to rectify the problem. The fault subsequently turned out to be a problem with my Wi-Fi router and not an issue with the solar system at all. I have been very impressed with this company, well done folks, I could not be more pleased with the whole outcome. read more

I have been looking at investing in solar panels for several years, after having received several quotations from firms who all offered me competitive quotes for a new solar edge solar system with battery storage. It was in the end I decided to purchase my system from First 4 Solar albeit they were not the cheapest I found them to be very helpful and they answered all my queries and went beyond to ensure I understood the differences between all the systems that were available to me. I would urge anyone to do their research into the different panel and inverter options prior to agreeing to installation. read more

First 4 Solar installed panels on my home, after some deliberation with my better half we decided to proceed with an installation and I am so glad we did. We had an 4.69kWp system installed in June this year, on average we have generated 21 units per day although the last few weeks this has reduced to around 15 as the nights draw in, we are out during the day so we opted to have a battery storage system installed as part of the package so we can use the wasted energy on an evening. I dealt with a chap called Jake and he was helpful from the get go. V. Morani read more

Had a 16 panel system installed in January - the process was seamless and the support I received from Jessica in applying for the FiT payment from Bulb was greatly appreciated. The install team Kane & Richard the electrician we're both professional I was especially pleased with how the cable was run from the panels to the meter Richard made every effort to keep the cable unobtrusive. Since installation our system has generated over 1000kW's already. read more
