The Phoenix Works came to provide a quote in late summer, 2011. There was no hard sell and no figures were discussed at the initial meeting. We were impressed that Thomas really knew his stuff and insisted on borrowing our ladders to actually measure the pitch of the roof, rather than just estimating from ground level as others had. There followed a clear and concise quotation and we were encouraged to ask questions (which we did via e-mail). These queries were quickly dealt with and we decided to invest and go ahead with installation (we had been quoted £1000 more by another company for an installation which offered only half the power generation!). Having been burgled earlier in the year, we were worried about having scaffolding up over a weekend, so The Phoenix Works bent over backwards to have scaffolding erected on the Monday, panels fitted on the Tuesday and scaffolding removed on the Wednesday. On the day of installation, the friendly and efficient team fitted all panels with no mess or fuss. There was no damage to the property and our installation is neat both in terms of panels on the roof and equipment in our garage. They quickly completed most of the paperwork (needed to register our installation and start payments for generating). Our panels have performed well generating 18 units on one particularly warm (and long) day of sunshine towards the end of September. After-sales care has been excellent. The Phoenix Works comes highly recommended indeed a friend and my parents-in-law have also gone ahead with installation from The Phoenix Works on my advice. The Phoenix Works approach was professional, friendly and helpful throughout. Tom did the site survey and answered our questions in a way that gave us every confidence in the firm's ability. There was no hard sell, just a very clear letter a couple of days later explaining their offer. Their tender price was competitive and, with a strong recommendation from our son and his partner, who had had a PV installation fitted by Phoenix Works in mid-2011, we felt confident we would be getting a good product at a fair price. We were not disappointed in any way. Nicola proved an excellent prime contact back in the office, and Matthew and his installation team, with their expertise and courtesy, minimised the on-site disturbance, kept on top of cleaning up and were always happy to take a few moments off to answer queries. We especially appreciated the repair work they did to our roof, before they were able to get on with their own installation. The number of broken tiles they found was clearly beyond what they had anticipated, but they just got on with replacing them, leaving us in no doubt that our choice of contractor had been spot on. I have been most impressed with every aspect of the work (solar panels covering the entire south facing, tiled roof) recently completed at my home in Boroughbridge by Phoenix Works of Leeds! I had contacted six companies, three of whom sent a rep to see us. We selected Phoenix on the basis of perceived quality of product and because the rep was so thorough and professional in his approach to the job. Everyone we had dealings with at Phoenix was helpful and friendly, including office staff, scaffolding guys and the four men who did the work over a period of about seven hours on the day. Matthew, the electrician was was in charge of operations, was extremely courteous and obliging, explaining everything to us in a patient, unhurried way that was never patronising or time-serving. The paperwork is brilliant! We are the first people in our suburb to install solar panels and I don't think we will be the last. Like lots of others we have been bombarded with cold calls offering surveys for PV panels. From the 6 firms contacted, 2 never showed up, I had to throw one guy out at just after 9.30pm (before he got around to the quote) and the quotations from the other 2 would have fitted on a small packet of fags. This is where The Phoenix Works were different they came at a convenient time, did a proper professional survey, clearly knew their product very well and listened to what we wanted. Apart from weather interventions the installation was professionally completed in the time they said it would take. Their installation team are clean and tidy, their project manager went through all the forms (including the FIT) and didn't leave until everything was signed off and the system working. Anyone considering panels should beware of the multitude of cowboys out there promising the earth for a really cheap price not surprisingly you get what you pay for in this field as in many others. I am sometimes sceptical of reviews, but must admit that all the reviews about the pheonix works must be true as i have just had 11 Sanyo panels fitted by them and all things highlighted is absolutely spot on. From initial enquiery ( I approached them ) to completion has been so smooth and simple I can hardly believe it myself. I had 3 other companies quote. Sorry make that 2 as one could not be bothered ( cold canvass over the phone). The other 2 were good local companies as well, but I decided to go with Pheonix works, which as it turned out in my opinion was the correct one. They were not the cheapest, but offered overhaul the best package and understanding of what could be achieved with the roof surface available. They tailor made a solution for my requirements, and from start to finish in all depts from survey to installation and after sales care they had me their customer as their main priority. I would certainly reccomend this company for anything they specialise in as they are truly an outstanding customer focused team. read more

I met Phoenix Works at the Yorkshire Show last summer and invited them to quote me for 4kw systrem on a SW roof. I'd done a bit of research, already had solar water and had some friends with PV Phoenix Works approach was impressive from start to finish. As my husband and I are both electrical engineers with knowledge of the renewables market we were definately fussy customers. Unimpressed with the lack of techical understanding of other firms we approached, we were delighted to discover Phoenix renewables appreciated the issues involved in our installations (variable partial shading). The Phoenix works installed a 3.5 kw PV system in a day at my home in May. I agreed to a Beta trial of the Enphase micro invertersl, the units have performed faultlessly since. The quality and cleanliness of the work carried out led to a recommendation to a colleague at work who was very pleased with the installetion he had done on a slate roof. Our house was a more conventional modern tiled roof on factory made roof trusses. The installation and support getting the feed in tarrif arranged were most helpful. Very are very pleased with our solar PV system installed by The Phoenix Works. They arrived as planned, were very courteous and had the system installed an running in a day and a half. All the paperwork was sent though very quickly as well, enabling us to get registered for the FiT straight away. The SolarEdge internet interface had problems after installation, but they returned just as they promised to sort it out, and now everything is working fine. The Phoenix Works fitted 16 panels to our church roof. They were really helpful at every stage of the process (more complicated than a domestic installation lots of forms for us to fill in). The work was done very quickly & neatly. They look very discreet on the roof much more so than other panels seen. They were never 'pushy' and answered all our questions clearly & honestly. I am very happy with my solar PV installation carried out by the Phoenix works. The system generates more power than anticipated. They use micro-inverters which harvest the power more efficiently and the cost wasn't much higher than the conventional string inverter system. Matthew and the team were courteous clean and tidy, they completed the installation on time and the panels were generating straight away. The Enecsys monitoring system is currently awaiting a revision so that each panel is monitored seperately, currently the panels are doubled up on the display.
