Our previous experience of eating at the Bridge had been extremely disappointing so we were not expecting great things. What a wonderful experience it turned out to be. The room was warm and welcoming and we were greeted almost straightaway by a lovely lady who was one of the new management team. We ordered drinks and studied the menu. Our orders were taken and we waited in anticipation for our starters. I ordered tomato soup and my husband ordered prawn cocktail. When they came we got a wonderful surprise. The soup was home made with fresh tomatoes and piping hot. The prawn cocktail was large and very tasty. For our main course we had both ordered battered cod and couldn't believe our eyes when it arrived. The fish portions were extremely generous (taking up half the plate) and the chips, new potatoes and side salad portions were generous and extremely tasty. We did not have a desert because we were so full. To sum up, it was an unexpected culinary delight and the service was fantastic. We would definitely recommend a visit and ask any one else who has had a bad experience prior to the new management taking over to give it a try, you won't be disappointed (we were so pleased with the meal we have now booked a table for Christmas day !).

I'm surprised we've not been here more before now. Organising a meetup in Droitwich, my husbands home town, I asked we go here instead of our usual haunt, more for convenience that anything else. And it was a good call. We settled ourselves out in the beer garden as it was a really pleasant sunny day, even at 17:00 it was still warm. We started with some pies and cider - they stock Pie Minister pies too, which is always a nice bonus. You can't really go wrong with a Pie Minister pie. A few more ciders in the beer garden and then we moved inside where we completed a very pleasant evening. The decor is typical English pub, with a genuine Tudor flavour. Facilities a little dated, but very clean. Staff were all nice young folk, who were very prompt when it came to bringing your food and serving you at the bar. Recommended.

The outdoor seating at The Firefly... on an evening in England where the day had been 26 degrees (got Celsius!) made me think that maybe, just maybe, if all of England was perfect like this everyday they would still rule the world. But I digress, that shit will never happen... so we need to ignore this ideal of a perfect England, and just take the pub as a perfect pub. Reasons for perfection: (see photos) The front room: fireplace, antique chandelier, old tyme-y lampshades, big red velvet couches, a moose head over the fireplace and ARE YOU F**KING SERIOUS - Brooklyn Lager. My favorite beer in the world. And I know I am an exaggerator, and I know I say "my favorite (insert something here) ever" all the time. But for real, this is the greatest tasting lager of the entirety of the history of beer (in my humble opinion). The downstairs: Apparently they have bands down here, they didn't this night... but it was a proper looking porn-like lounge area with giant sofas and a good looking stage where you could definitely see some mediocre bands up really close before they sell out. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, the bands play outside. Yes, I said it. The MFing outdoor garden: I have this friend, his name is Jack Johnson, maybe you've heard of him. Maybe (probably) you're sick of him because most of his songs sound alike. It's also pretty likely that you'd give anything for his life, I know I would. If I had minimal talent like him I would totally move to Hawaii, surf and sing songs about making pancakes for girls and playing my guitar all day while working on my tan in a hammock. But again, I digress - why don't you guys stop me when I do that? - The garden here looks like an old fashioned surf lounge where guys with long hair (rebels!) and tattoos (scandal!) sit with beers and talk about waves. Jack, would fit in here... and I could even stand to listen to Banana Pancakes (once, just once) while I am sitting on the couches with my feet up next to the lanterns LOVING my totally chill life. But as pubs go, the food is excellent, the potions are massive and the prices are incredibly low. The menu does not just include English "classics" like steak, burgers, pies or fish & chips, but also the more "exotic choices": At my last visit, I had an Indian prawn dish - and I have to say that this dish can easily compete with anything you might have at an Indian restaurant: The spicing and flavouring was just superb and the portion was quite big - all for an incredibly inexpensive price! Also, the staff behind the counter was incredibly helpful and friendly; and parking at the rear is free of charge. When the weather permits it, there is also seating outside. All in all, a nice convenient and inexpensive place to go to to have a good time! All the meals we ordered were great and the portions were very substantial. Among the dishes we ate were fillet of beef strogonoff,large cod and chips, fillet steak(done perfectly), and lamb shank.
