This is my third year going to the Rib White and Blue fest and it has gotten progressively better…read more Some of which is just learning and adapting. First trip out was early in the day. I was new to the area so did not realize Lock 3 was basically at the college campus. Then means that the vast majority of the buildings and what few restaurants were around are based on college being in session. So the trip was a little of a bust. Also did not go during the judging. Second trip went a little later in the afternoon but I went way to early to hear the bands play. So it was still fun, lots of great food, but only so so experience. So this last trip, went about 6:30 pm. Lots of space to still put up your chairs. Food and crowd were great. Managed to eat all the BBQ and funnel cake one needs. Grabbed some drinks sat down and listened to the band. Then when we were treated to one of the best fireworks experience I have ever had. It is not that they are New York quality, but they are still great and in your face close. It was amazing. the show went on for about 15 - 20 minutes. Once it was over and time to go, it took a few minutes to get the cars in the garage moving, but once all of the police were in place, it was off to the races and we were able to get out and down the street in short order. Police did a great job.

Walked down from work for lunch. I didn't have any idea which place to choose, so followed my nose…read moreto Big Boned BBQ. I'm a sucker for a good smoky smell! Ordered up a pulled pork sandwich meal with cornbread, slaw, & beans. Surprised that the sandwich came "pre-sauced", but added some of their spicy sauce to my sandwich & beans. This meal was WAY more than I needed for lunch. The pulled pork was smoky, saucy, and tasty. A little fatty, but still de-lish. The slaw was kind of sweet, & had bits of pineapple in it - a sure change of pace, and good. Cornbread was soft & sweet, almost cake-like. A little too much so, but good. Beans were mediocre, glad I spiced them up with sauce. Hope to return to the festival again before it ends. Need to check out some other competitors!

The stadium, located off of Rt. 91 in Lakewood, is large, well kept and has a TON of great concessions vendors, a great gift shop, and during the game, there are a variety of events, from races (of a variety of...creatures:) and raffles and games. The baseball is usually really great and you get see the farm teams of a whole variety of cities and perhaps get a glimpse of stars to come! Another great element of Captains games is THEME NIGHTS! Patty and I went to "Star Wars" night, and also got free pairs of Captains Socks! Oh, and did I mention, just about every Friday and Saturday, FIREWORKS! Parking is usually about 5 dollars, and a bridge ferries folks across 91 to the stadium, and they have closer parking for season ticket holders and special needs folks who need to park closer. So, I have to say, when it comes to baseball, my alliegence is to these Captains, now and forever:)

Nice venue for college baseball. No long lines for anything. Field & seats are in good shape…read more Place could use some maintenance & cleaning. Scoreboard was on the fritz. Bathrooms were gross right off the bat. Could use a coat of paint too. The paper towels were empty in 3rd inning. Concession prices were outlandish. Used to be they were double the convenient store price - now it's 4x the stores. $6 for a bottle of water is a crime when they are that much for a case!!

Just got back from a weekend tent camping trip here. Communication leading up to our stay was…read moregreat. However, that was the only good part. Family friendly? Hardly. Our campsite was right next to cabins. We heard f-bombs and rap music talking about sex and drugs all night- which was great exposure for my toddlers (NOT!). After searching ridiculously hard for a park security phone number, I was finally able to submit a noise complaint. The guard told the perpetrators we were the ones who made the complaint so they harassed us all weekend. We had people walking thru our campsite all the time. The bath house stayed dirty with trash on the floor, dirty toilets and dirty shower stalls. The cleaning crew came thru but you couldn't tell what they did because everything was still a mess. The app is only half way functional and is full of links to 404 pages and old phone numbers. The Adventure Park was the best part of the stay. The lake, splash pad and water playground were awesome! But it was full of entitled, rude guests. There were plenty of life guards to patrol the water but not much staff for anything else. On Sunday, we went to the Rec Center for activities with a bear. They no-showed for 3 activities. We waited nearly 90 minutes and saw no sign of people in the Rec Center. We talked with the staff in John O's and they tried to help us, but were not successful. This was our second and last time staying with a Jellystone campground. We stayed at Mammoth Cave and had a very similar experience. I'd rather stay at a state park and only pay a fraction of the cost. The campground is not all that close to town, so I hope you're able to pack in what you need! Our campsite was a complete after thought. They had just mowed and weed eated and left bunches of grass and tall weeds all over the ground. And the ground was saturated from the water spigot that constantly leaked. We had huge rut from the lawn mower in our site and that stayed soggy from said water spigot. There was no guidance on how to contact park staff nor for check out. When we left, there was nobody at the check-in station, so I left my mirror tag on the desk and left because I got tired of waiting around. Huge let down. I found old episodes of Yogi and HB Friends to amp up my toddlers and get them excited for the trip. We were all excited for the trip and it was a total bust of a stay.
