I had arranged a vacation to see a show on the beach. They cancelled the show a few weeks prior. I wouldn't count on them for much.

This is my third year going to the Rib White and Blue fest and it has gotten progressively better…read more Some of which is just learning and adapting. First trip out was early in the day. I was new to the area so did not realize Lock 3 was basically at the college campus. Then means that the vast majority of the buildings and what few restaurants were around are based on college being in session. So the trip was a little of a bust. Also did not go during the judging. Second trip went a little later in the afternoon but I went way to early to hear the bands play. So it was still fun, lots of great food, but only so so experience. So this last trip, went about 6:30 pm. Lots of space to still put up your chairs. Food and crowd were great. Managed to eat all the BBQ and funnel cake one needs. Grabbed some drinks sat down and listened to the band. Then when we were treated to one of the best fireworks experience I have ever had. It is not that they are New York quality, but they are still great and in your face close. It was amazing. the show went on for about 15 - 20 minutes. Once it was over and time to go, it took a few minutes to get the cars in the garage moving, but once all of the police were in place, it was off to the races and we were able to get out and down the street in short order. Police did a great job.

Ordered up a pulled pork sandwich meal with cornbread, slaw, & beans. Surprised that the sandwich came "pre-sauced", but added some of their spicy sauce to my sandwich & beans. This meal was WAY more than I needed for lunch. The pulled pork was smoky, saucy, and tasty. A little fatty, but still de-lish. The slaw was kind of sweet, & had bits of pineapple in it - a sure change of pace, and good. Cornbread was soft & sweet, almost cake-like. A little too much so, but good. Beans were mediocre, glad I spiced them up with sauce. Hope to return to the festival again before it ends. Need to check out some other competitors!

We had wag bags for a portable toilet. It was an unnecessarily rude and unprofessional way to speak to a guest. After that, another staff member directed him into a campsite that was extremely difficult to maneuver into. When he attempted to reposition the vehicle, no assistance was offered, and he ended up backing into a tree. The restroom situation was also disappointing. The portable toilets were unsanitary and appeared insufficient for the number of attendees. The final straw came the next morning when staff told him he had to take down his pop-up changing/privacy tent, claiming the health department would shut Nelson Ledges down if it remained. We reviewed the posted rules and could not find anything prohibiting changing tents or wag bags. Rather than explaining the concern respectfully, staff were dismissive and confrontational. After everything that had already happened, he packed up and left early. Before posting this review, I reached out to Nelson Ledges by both email and Facebook Messenger in hopes of discussing what happened. Unfortunately, I never received a response. I understand festivals can be hectic, and I don't expect perfection. I do expect guests to be treated with basic courtesy and for legitimate concerns to be acknowledged. Hopefully management takes customer feedback more seriously in the future and works to improve both staff interactions and the overall guest experience.

Also was really upset by the person running entry to the beer tent. There were children allowed inside the beer tent. 2 women, maybe in their 50s, entered before us and he joked with them and said he didnt need to card them and he gave them wrist bands to indicate they were allowed to drink alcohol. I left my purse in the car and didnt have my wallet. Ok, i figured i couldnt get a wristband and just sit with my kids while my husband grabbed his beer. The guy wouldn't even let me in the area and said sorry he couldn't let me in without the ID. WHAT'S THE POINT OF THE WRISTBANDS?!? children were allowed in, older women without IDs were allowed in, but a tired new mom to twins who struggled to show up at this festival couldn't go in to sit with her husband.

Our impression of the festival was that it was not well-run, the actual committee that runs the festival (not the ground volunteers) are stuck in their ways and not receptive to change or feedback, overcharging on the admissions fee and pressuring twins to register (so they can collect the registration fee) in order to make up their data in the system, poor and disorganized distribution of group photos that attendees must pay on top of the registration fees as well as the lack of follow-up later about the photos, etc. Frankly, the festival makes us feel excluded and not all that celebrated. Not great.
