I requested a free quote on their website and Geoff showed up the same day. Geoff was very personable, talked me through the project (we needed branches from neighbors tree cut) and he even walked me through my yard to talk about the other trees/health status. Of the 3 other quotes we received, Above & Beyond was the most reasonable and quite honestly the only one that made me feel comfortable with moving forward. Project was completed yesterday (since the date of the quote to the project completion, it took about 3 weeks which was even earlier than expected). The work was done within a couple of hours, no damage to the yard, and everything was picked up. Geoff is someone who cares about his company and his customers - you will be satisfied!

Amazing service and amazing materials!…read more I ordered screened loam, 80/20 loam sand mix, compost, and loam tailings to fill my raised garden beds. I got the delivery yesterday and only received 3 of three 4 piles I was expecting. One minute after emailing the company about it today, I got a call from them. Turns out I had not ordered what I thought I was ordering! They explained that the loam tailings would be full of trash and gross stuff that I probably did not want in my garden bed or on my driveway. They also explained, very kindly, that after not being able to reach me at the time of delivery, they decided not to drop off that part of the order (and wait till I reached out). They asked what I was intending to buy and what I was going to use it for, and helped me find the correct fill for my beds. AND, they are delivering it tomorrow! The pricing was fantastic and the materials are amazing! Such kind and considerate customer service! As a young woman, I was expecting to feel patronized, but there was none of that at all! Avoid D&D for firewood…read more I purchased 2 cords of firewood which ended up being about 1/2 cord short. See pictures. I have 6 racks that hold 4'x8' each (3 racks = 1 cord). Result: 4x full, 1x half full, 1x empty. Owner refused to even discuss it. He insisted that their loose measurement is always correct. Didn't want to look at my security video, didn't want to look at what I received in person, nothing. D&D's claim is that 6.25 cu yds of loose firewood equals 1 cord when stacked. Volume of loose/thrown is an estimate; you don't know until its stacked. They are shooting low to begin with: consensus is 180 cu ft loose ~= 1 stacked cord; they err on the low side with 168cu ft/cord. Not worth going to small claims, MA state law offers no recourse. Delivery driver was great; manager from location near me looked in person and agreed it was very short. The quality of the firewood is fine.

It was a mistake to try Simply Local Wood. I should have read the reviews. On the plus side, they…read moredelivered quickly. On the down side, Simply Local Wood only delivered 3/4 cord - but I paid for a full cord of kiln-dried. 395 plus 59 delivery charge for a total of 454. I sent them the below pictures and asked them to come take a look. They said they would, but then said they would not, telling me that the wood they delivered was "sufficient." I asked for a partial refund and they declined. Essentially Simply Local Wood screwed me out of $100. Other issues (kinda nitpicky): log length is not uniform. Ranges in size from 7" to 17". Most fell within the 14-16" range, but there were wayyy more shorties than 17s! The shorties were doubled up where possible, and used to fill gaps. Wood was not screened, so there were two trash barrels of bark and dirt left over on my gravel driveway. Pics are below. It's easy enough to do the math. The length of the pile is 20', the width of the pile is 1.333 and the height on the right side of the pile is 4.8'. The big gap on the left where the wood is missing - that is how much Simply Local Wood screwed me.

I have a whole cord that was given to me as a birthday present and I could barely make it burn had to keep throwing in firer burners in it to keep in going did that for 2 days. I stopped, I found Simply LocalWood and bought 1/2 cord of wood. I couldn't believe it. I put in a little fat wood a little paper I put in wood I got, it literally started blazing in about 15 minutes and it never went out til it died a great death. All I had to do was take out the ashes. I will be a Simply Local Wood customer as long as I can burn wood. I will tell everyone I know about this company and how they season their wood, they bake it in ovens to take the sap out of the wood and that is why it catches fire so fast and doesn't stop til it's a pile of ashes. I've been burning wood for over 40 years, never heard of baking wood but it's the best way to go if you don't want keep fighting to try to keep your fire burning. Give Simply Local Wood a try you won't be sorry. Really you will feel great knowing that you won't have to worry about unseasoned wood not burning again. I am now a customer for life. Patricia Perry
