I have been coming to this location for over 30 years and they have been fairly reliable and do fairly good work. But I guess their new policy makes it such that making an appointment online is completely useless. This morning I went in for my appointment at 9 o'clock, and they told me it'll probably be ready at noon. On their website they even ask you whether you're going to sit and wait for your car of course which I said "yes". Obviously, I'm not going to sit there for three hours and wait for my tires to get changed. If you're looking to get work done in an efficient amount of time, don't come here. I recently had my oil change and tire rotation at the Toyota dealership in Culver City. Later I noticed that a lug nut was missing on one of my tires. I went back to the dealership but they took no responsiblity for the lost lug nut. They gave me a new lug nut but said they couldn't put it on because he stud was damages. They would charge me $300 to replace it. So I took the car to Firestone tires in Santa Monice. They had done a recent brake job on my front brakes. The lug nut was missing on my rear tires so they were not responsible for the damaged stud. However, their wonderful employee, Tim, took the lug and with some tools replaced the lug nut with no problem and no charge. This is customer service at it's best. I came for my appointment to have an oil change and a coolant change. I was told it would be 40 min. After 40 min, the person kept telling me, " A few more minutes". After TWO HOURS I was told that they just changed the oil and didn't do the coolant because they didn't have the right clips. Two hours for a lousy oil change that should have taken 40 min max! How lame!! Very poor organization, management and I don't trust the mechanics. Requested a vehicle inspection before a drive. It took six HOURS to be completed although I had an appointment and there was nothing notable. I then brought it in for general service a few weeks later and was charged $340 for various services AND additional inspections of the engine and breaks. Not even five days later my check engine comes on while on the highway and I need to get $800 worth of work done in order to DRIVE MY CAR again. It was honestly really scary. I have had this car for two years and have driven it 400000 miles and never had an issue. They did a sloppy job and overcharged, without actually looking at the significant portions of my car. Came in for an alignment on my car, instantly declined without even looking at the car after i said it was lowered (Not a slammed car once so ever) .They didn't even wanna try anything even after I had asked to help. Specifically the young African American lad definitely has no idea about cars / tires or alignment because he said how my car wouldn't be to spec according to his alignment machine because of my modifications . I had aftermarket adjustments to accommodate my lowered car and also offered to give my own specs because I've done my own alignments on this exact car with no issue. Went there for an oil change - they removed the engine splash guard to access the filter and simply never put it back. Which I did not learn about that until I went back to my regular mechanic and was told it was missing - and $500 to replace. The whole experience was already not ideal - I took forever (like 2 hrs longer than they estimated), they didn't add a new mileage sticker (which is whatever, I can calculate that myself), and they tried to upsell me on some unnecessary repairs -- all of which is very much par for the course at these places, but not putting back a piece of the car is a a pretty egregious lack of attention to detail. If you need a quick oil change, just go to a Valvoline. And if you need anything else, go elsewhere -- I wouldn't trust this place to do any sort of repairs to my car. read more

As the clock's hands mercilessly swept toward 6pm, the reality of my situation set in. My car, still untouched, sat as a monument to wasted time in the service bay, just as the garage prepared to close for the day. The frustration at this point was palpable. The staff's unchanging demeanor, once a source of comfort, now served as a stark contrast to the growing sense of urgency and disbelief. "Your car is next" is not that helpful considering I'm the only one here in the waiting room at 6:15pm and I'm watching all the mechanics leave for the day. ** Basically, I came in with an appointment at 2pm and was given a time estimate of 1.5 hours. Since I had my laptop and a load of emails to attend to, I opted to wait. At around 4pm with no sign of any progress on my car, I asked again what a reasonable estimate might be, and was told "my car was next" in the bay closest to the office, which was just a routine inspection and it would be just another hour. An hour passes and I notice that the "routine inspection" had turned into a new battery, 4 new tires, and an alignment. 30 minutes pass (30 minutes before closing time, mind you) and I see that someone has lifted the car with a jack, and I am hopeful that I will be getting out by 6pm. 6pm rolls around and I notice several of the technicians clocking out for the day and leaving. Only around 6:20 did Karent finally ask theone remaining technician to inspect the vehicle, a good 4+ hours after I arrived with an appointment. I then had to come BACK the next day in order to get a new tire installed. To everyone's credit, everybody was very pleasant to deal with, and I don't know where the breakdown is, whether they don't get a whole lot of feedback from the technicians as to what the workload is, or they are afraid to actually tell us that it will take 6 hours to fix a tire, but ultimately I would have been a lot less frustrated had they just told me it would have taken 4.5 hours so I could plan my day accordingly instead of stringing me along the way they did. read more

I said okay great when is your next appointment? He said 3pm, took my info, confirmed. I showed up at 3 and the lady couldn't find my appointment at first she said it'll be 2 hours. I said no I can't wait 2 hours that's why I made an appointment. She very rudely started raising her voice at me saying they are so busy that with or without and appointment it would be 2 hours. Up till today I have had very good results from this particular Firestone station. In fact, I have used Firestone in various areas of the country. However, beginning a couple days ago, I called to see what the estimate would be to have a gasket replaced on an oil pan. The woman answering the phone had no idea and referred me to her manager, who turns out to be Jennifer Arlon. In talking to her, I asked her the approximate time it would take to change the gasket and she replied hours, and that it would be about $300. I searched on YouTube and found a couple of people who replaced the gasket in the time that it took to do a YouTube video, which was about 10 to 15 minutes. Based on that I went back to the store to again ask, this time in person, what it takes to change the oil pan and what the guidelines are for the repair estimate. The so-called manager had no idea what I was talking about in terms of guidelines was extremely rude, and frankly just plain stupid. I recalled my original conversation where she figured she would just make an appointment and do the installation and that would be it. Checking with two other mechanics. I found out that it doesn't take long to replace the gasket, but that the car should sit overnight, so that the silicon seal is formed. Otherwise, there could be a problem with driving the car right away. This so-called manager had no idea about that or at least never even informed me about that and it was apparent that she would've authorize the repair and sent me on my way only to have the gasket possibly blow out again. Why is this person, this uneducated, rude, stupid person, in charge of a major store in the middle of Santa Monica. I am sure if the regional manager would talk to the employees it would not surprise me if they came back with hugely negative reviews. There is no possibility that I will go to this particular station again as long as this person "works "there but I really can't call it work, So if you're reading this, I would strongly suggest you go to a different Firestone dealer. You have no chance of getting accurate information from this so-called manager and frankly, if they're paying her more than a dollar an hour they're paying her too much. She is a complete idiot it should not be in the sales position much less a managerial sales position. read more

I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone. The lobby employees are rude, contemptuous and disparaging. I made an appointment for the following day at 2pm (was told it would take about an hour) for a brake inspection. Arrived the next. day at 1:40pm with no one in the lobby except one employee on the phone (Never looked up). I waited patiently for 20 minutes with no acknowledgment until another employee (Jennifer) arrived. While I was waiting two other patrons came in with complaints about previous repairs. I told Jennifer I had a 2pm appointment for a brake inspection. She said I needed to leave my car there until 6pm closing. What about the appointment, I asked? She told me they had too many walk ins and that I would have to wait. I thanked her and walked out. She obviously didn't care and was never trained in customer service. I had a really pleasant experience here. Had to get a wheel alignment and multiple tires replaced due to wear and tear. Daniel and Omar helped me kindly and efficiently. I accidentally put a wrong description for my car and Omar fixed my mistake and ordered the correct tires for the following morning. I got promptly notified when they arrived and went in for a 1pm appointment. The service did take a little longer than they quoted but my experience was really pleasant, efficient, and fairly priced. read more

Very disappointing customer service. The store manager Jennifer Arlon needs training on customer service and leadership. I walked in today for my scheduled 3pm appointment and was left waiting for 5 minutes until the cashier acknowledged my existence. After the cashier (turned out to be the manager) said hi I let them know I had scheduled 3pm appointment in which I was cut off and told that "my representative called you to cancel, I was right here when they called" leaving me puzzled as I did not receive a call. Turns out the cashier/manager was speaking about a different customer in which I was told they dont have another appointment at this time so I must be wrong. I then corrected Jennifer to not tell and to provide some sort of help because what she was offering was not ok. I requested for a regional phone number as I was concerned with this experience but denied. I had the absolute worst customer experience one could possibly have. In short, upon picking my vehicle up after having an oil leak and starter issues I returned to a vehicle with more issues than when I dropped it off. My windows would not roll up as they used to, new lights appeared on my dashboard, and my vehicle was abruptly throwing itself into park when trying to reverse. I then left the car there for a few extra days for the "new issues" to get addressed. Upon returning to pick my vehicle up a second time, I noticed a brand new scratch right on the side of my car. Long story short, the store manager was extremely rude, I had to follow up 5 times to get a claim number, and upon hearing from the "corporate claims team", they are denying my claim and refusing to fix the scratch that they put on my vehicle. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. THE TEAM IS RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND THEY DON'T ADMIT FAULT WHEN THEY DO SOMETHING WRONG! read more

Took my car there on Friday for brake inspection on Friday, the guy working on it (Omar) said it would be done by Monday. I got no call Monday called on Tuesday and they said it was almost ready, then I spoke with Omar he said he wouldn't charge me because the workers done bit not to his standards. Then I needed a tow truck to get my car to the shop, and they gave me the number for a tow truck guy who was an hour and a half late. I had to cancel so I could get to work. They told me my BMW had run flat tires and they couldn't patch the tire with a screw in it. They told me it was safe to drive home with the flat, so I did. I went to a different shop to have the tire replaced and they told me my car didn't use run flats. So Firestone gave me incorrect information. My tire could've been patched and I shouldn't have driven home with the false information that my car was safe to drive with a flat. read more
