I have had to have a car repaired when I was put of town, they handled it like pros. Had the driver bring the car in ,they did the work, and called me to have it paid. No fuss, no muss. Ron has taught his technicians to do really good work. Yes,.my son works there, but that isnt the reason I like them. (OK, maybe one reason.) Ron doesnt let the guys slack down there, he truly believes the old saying " if you have time to lean, you have time to clean." He has pushed my son, and the other techs to improve their times and their proficiencies. I wont take my trucks anywhere else, and that will even be after my son leaves for the Army. My man took the day off to take his car in for diagnosis in the morning. They didnt call us for 6 hours so we went to the shop to see if his car was ready. They hadnt seen the car at all. They said, "we were juggling a lot of things didnt get around to it." Then they misplaced his keys which took them fifteen minutes or so to find. Never again. When i was positive that it felt like my tires were flat or something connecting them was not aligned despite no bumping against curbs or running over anything, twice, they ensured my tires were aired up evenly without charging since i have the lifetime alignment with them (a terrific deal for those of us who keep their trucks until death!). read more

We had indicator showing low tire pressure. We drove into the parking lot of this business so we could look at the tire. We asked for assistance because we could not see what was making the tire detector show the low pressure. A young man came out and checked the pressure. The pressure was good but the device was not working so he fixed it for free!! We gave him some $$ anyway. Great experience. read more

I told them I had to wait but after 2 hours of hearing nothing from them I walked back to their shop to see my truck sitting right where I left it. Made an 8am appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. I dropped off my car for the day - at 5:30pm I called because I had not heard from them and they close at 6. They still had not gotten to my car and it wouldn't get done until well after close. Their quote is $50 over what I pay for these services at most other places anyway. I wasn't about to pay extra on top of the inconvenience. I picked up my car and took my business elsewhere. I won't be back. read more

We've all been to auto care shops where you get upsold and skewed truths in the interest of increasing their business. Of course they're going to recommend new tires even when you have another 6 months left in yours. However, this store isn't like those ones. I lived in Rapid City for a year and these folks treated me so well! Having come from Florida and California, I knew nothing about snow tires. Not only did they help me look up Black Friday discounts for my Blizzaks and schedule me for exactly that special window of time, but they advised me to keep my summer tires so that I could increase the life on both if/when I went back to driving on hot summer roads. I had plenty of educated second opinions from people outside the store, and they matched the Firestone folks exactly. They were also very warm, friendly, and professional whenever I came in. Made an online appointment 24 hours in advance. Drove an hour from Custer for the appointment. Showed up and they said they were booked solid until later in the week. I asked what the point of making an appointment is? She says you don't have an appointment unless the manager confirms. It seems to me that if they couldn't accept the appointment then the manager should have called before the actual appointment one way or the other. She admitted that the manager was supposed to check appointments first thing In The morning and did not. So I started calling other places, first place I called Bowman Tire took me in right away and had me on the road in an hour. I cannot speak highly enough of how the folks here treated us during a recent tire crisis of sorts. On the second day of a two-day drive from California to Minnesota, we hit a nasty snowstorm in South Dakota. We pretty quickly realized our tires needed replacing, as we were reduced to a 40mph crawl on I-90. We began calling every tire shop in every town along I-90, but nobody had openings. The employee who picked up the phone at Firestone heard that we were traveling through and in desperate need of new tires, and he made an opening for us despite a busy schedule. When we arrived, everyone was extremely friendly and told us they'd get us back on the road that same afternoon. We were probably in the most vulnerable position to get upsold, but that didn't happen at all. We even had our recently spayed dog with us, and they let us keep her in the waiting area, even giving her some nice head scratches underneath her cone. When all was said and done, we were back on the road in less than 2 hours, with 4 new tires to keep us safe for the rest of the drive to Minnesota. This place was great. They knew we were tourists traveling through and they treated us fairly and quickly. They sold us only one tire and even though AWD tires are usually sold as a pair, so it would have been an easy up-sell. They even called the manufacturer to make sure that was safe. And they ran a diagnostic on the vehicle and were honest that it was nothing that needed immediate repair. And finally, we had an appointment and they finished before we even finished eating lunch. These guys and gals are pros. I switched wheels on my Ram 1500 and needed new tires. I narrowed it down to 3 sets of tires through tire-rack and these guys had each in stock. They had the same prices for the tires without price-matching. All that is great, but when I decided after 3 weeks that the set I got didn't look quite the way I wanted them to (wanted a more aggressive tread and higher sidewall), they exchanged them without a second thought. My husband and I were traveling on our way to Michigan when our low oil light came on. We stopped at Rapid city and found the Firestone station. The staff was courteous and helpful. They checked and filled our oil which was very low. The lady didn't want to charge us even though my husband insisted. The young man who replenished the oil told us where we could purchase more single quarts for the rest of our road trip. Would recommend this place, very helpful. read more

I brought in my 2013 Dodge Durango Citadel because Dodge dealer was too busy and I figured you should be able to trust the work at Firestone. Not only did they get me in the very next day. I thought my breaks were going because when I went down the road they made the scrapping sound and when I stepped on the breaks they made the screeching sound. They opened them up expecting the same thing but found that not only were my break pads in "great" shape but they found a foreign "road debris" so no new breaks. They said they would repack the bearings while they were at it, I said go for it, they did not charge me an arm and leg either. I have been using various Firestone stores for about 15 years for all our vehicles and this is not even close to the quality of service we are used to. I called and scheduled an appointment for an oil change, fuel filters, brakes checked and possible new rear tires on our truck. "Martinez" took our information and we thought we were all set. When we arrived, "Peggy" assisted us. Actually, assisted is a bad word - when she asked what size tires, I said I didn't know. She said there were 3 different sizes and I had to go outside and get the size myself. Peggy then told me she only had 2 tires, not the 4 I needed for a dually. We were not going to reschedule for the oil change so we left. After spending $1250 for new tires at Goodyear (excellent service) we thought we would give Firestone another chance. We scheduled online for a Monday morning oil change- Peggy called later the day I scheduled and advised that Monday was booked, could we do Tuesday morning at 8. I agreed. Monday at 5:15pm Martinez called to tell me that the appointment would not work because our truck needed a particular lift they used and that lift was busy. So, run - don't walk away from this Firestone, seems they don't have a clue about scheduling or customer service! read more

My daughter is a college student in Rapid City, when you send your daughter out into the world, you can only hope she'll encounter good, honest business people, sadly, that wasn't the case at this Firestone store. She took her vehicle in for a minor brake light repair and when she picked it up, she was handed a $240 estimate for a window repair, here's the problem, the window wasn't broken when she dropped it off.
