As a former professional in the auto repair industry with decades of experience, I purchased tires for my 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter from Northville Firestone, which included free tire rotations. Unfortunately, my experience with this location was extremely disappointing, immoral, unethical and had zero integrity resulting in unperformed services, and thousands of dollars of unresolved vehicle damages to my Mercedes Sprinter. The first time I visited for a tire rotation, I discovered they had not rotated my tires at all. In addition, they failed to inform me that one of the lug nuts had been stripped. I had paid for services that were not performed, and Firestone chose not to address these issues or communicate with me about it. When I returned the following week for the promised rotation, I spoke to the store manager, Terrance. He was unapologetic and cold, moved forward with the tire second attempt at a tire rotation. **However, things took a much worse turn after the second visit. A few weeks later, while inspecting my vehicle from underneath, I noticed severe damage to the undercarriage frame of my Mercedes Sprinter. It appeared that the vehicle had been improperly hoisted, crushing the pinch weld frame on both sides. The damage was significant and would cost thousands of dollars to repair. Worse yet, no one at Firestone--neither the technician nor the management--had informed me about this damage whatsoever.** I immediately filed a claim with Firestone Corporate. Chad Mcghee, a representative from Firestone, refused to take responsibility for the damage, citing that weeks had passed since the incident and therefore Firestone would not be held accountable. Despite providing evidence of the damage and the improper hoisting, Firestone declined to repair my vehicle or even discuss the issue in person. This level of negligence and disregard for customer service is unacceptable. My question to Firestone is: How is it the customer's responsibility to inspect the underbody of their vehicle after a routine service, especially when the damage is clearly hidden from view? Why should I have to audit services I've paid for to ensure they are completed properly and without damage? After the first visit, I could clearly see the tires hadn't been rotated, but I never expected to have to inspect the undercarriage after every visit. It's absurd that Firestone didn't take responsibility for their actions. I'm left with a $70,000 vehicle that has thousands of dollars in damage, all because of negligence at the hands of Store Manager Terrance & staff. In conclusion, if you're looking for professional auto repair, I highly recommend avoiding Terrance and his team at Northville Firestone. You would be better off finding a repair facility that values integrity, takes accountability for their actions, and provides the service you paid for. Firestone in Northville is severely understaffed, unprofessional, and, unfortunately, run by a team that lacks basic ethics, integrity and does not take responsibility for their actions & accidents. They hire grumpy, underpaid, overworked, and inexperienced staff, which only exacerbates the issues while projecting poor attitudes. I would not recommend this location, to anyone. DO NOT GO HERE! (Firestone Auto Care, Northville MI) I'm leaving this review to warn other customers, especially anyone who has experienced pressure to approve unnecessary repairs. About six months ago, I had my rear brakes and rotors replaced on my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe LT at this Firestone location. At that appointment, the manager (Scott Phillips) told me after the fact that it was "corporate policy" that brakes and rotors must always be replaced together. That claim felt questionable, and I later researched Firestone's policy and learned this is not universally required. On 1/31/26, I returned for a front brake inspection. I clearly stated I only wanted front brake pads replaced and did not want rotors unless they were truly out of specification. My vehicle has only 50,018 miles, and I drive about 8,000 miles per year locally. Scott insisted I needed both front brakes and rotors and claimed I only had "4mm left" on the pads. When I declined rotors, he refused to perform the brake service at all. He also refused to provide rotor measurements when I asked. The service report contained no objective specs -- only vague notes like "Technician Recommended Based on Experience." This location appears to rely on upselling and pressure tactics rather than transparent, documented assessments. I went to another shop immediately afterward. They confirmed I did not need rotors, only brake pads -- and that Firestone's brake measurement was not accurate. They also confirmed I needed an oil change and coolant, but no air filter, contrary to Firestone's recommendation. After this experience, I looked up Firestone through the Better Business Bureau. The Northville location is not BBB accredited and carries an F rating. The BBB also notes thousands of complaints filed at the corporate level in recent years, with many involving failure to respond or unresolved issues. This is one of the worst service experiences I've had in quite some time. I brought my car in the have two slow leak tires fixed, and was told it would take an hour or less. Nearly three hours later, I was FINALLY able to leave - after telling them where they could put all of the recommendations I waited for the to prepare even though I told them I wasn't interested: In the trash (come on, I'm not the rude, even when I'm angry). Stay away!!! Negative stars warranted. Went in for an alignment and to get the tires balanced. Came out with a huge scratch and dent in my car and had to get all 4 tires rebalanced elsewhere. I picked up my car to find a 3 inch long white scratch on my black car and the corresponding 6 inch wide dent just below the rear passenger window. It looks like a car on a lift had a door open so hard into my car that it put this massive dent and scratch in. After complaining to the manager on duty, he said it wasn't them and they didn't even have anything white in the shop. The dent is about 5 inches below the window so there is zero chance it was a door dent in the parking lot as he claimed, unless a monster truck came by. Completely pissed is an understatement since this is about a $500 repair and looks terrible. Drove on highway and the front end was bouncing about 2 inches at speed, the car was undriveable and dangerous even though it was fine the day before. Looked at the wheels and never saw so many balance weights on anything but huge truck tires. I have a Mazda 3 with 50 series tires. They had almost 2 oz of weight on each wheel when anything over an oz is abnormal. They claimed I had 4 bent wheels, corresponding out of round tires, and needed all new wheels and tires to fix the issue. Went somewhere else and ended up with about 1/2 oz of weight per wheel, similar to what they were when I went to Firestone. I simply wanted a new balance since I had a lifetime balance when I bought the tires at a Firestone in Virginia and they hadn't been done in about 10k miles. To summarize, I had to spend more money and my car is worth less after going to this Firestone than if I had never entered their parking lot. Incompetent and/or lying management means this is likely to happen to others as well. I would love to add pictures of the balance weights and damaged door but can't figure out how to do so for a non-restaurant on yelp. read more

I was in town for a baseball tournament and picked up a large screw in my tire. AAA put on the donut tire and I went to Firestone on a Sunday (so thankful they are open Sunday). I needed to make a 5 hour trip back to IL. They said the tire was safe to repair. They did not push replacing the tires and I was so thankful for their honesty and speedy service. We did talk about replacing the two front tires because they would be needing replacement before winter. But Scott said that I could certainly do that closer to home. All done in about an hour, with a $40 repair and all other tires checked. So thankful! read more

Up-sell! Up-sell! Up-sell! I came in for rear brakes and an oil change. They came back with an overwhelming number of problems/concerns. They tried to charge me $20.00 more than the dealer for an oil change- yes more than the dealer! (By showing them the dealer website which indicates the price of an oil change I got the price down!) Started this visit very pleasant. Making my appointment via phone I thought would cut back on my wait. The guy told me to come in at 5, so I did and was told to expect a 45 min wait. Got there. Waited and was told at 6:15 that my car was going back. Wait a sec... Seriously? I was already late for my sons event, and now it was looking like I was going to miss it. Why couldn't he tell me they were running late when I got there, or better yet, call me ahead of time. Needless to say, service was performed appropriately, but I watched two others come in for appointments and were told the same thing in the phone and this guy said they could pick up their cars in the morning. The good:clean waiting room, courteous staff, located near some stores so you can get some shopping done while you wait The bad: the wait, despite an appointment, for a simple oil change, was over an hour and a half... Came back and 45 min later, hadn't even started yet-after asking about it, finally got started (at first he thought I was done bc of how much time had passed-he did apologize for the delay for what that's worth...) Coupon for oil change only covers 5qts so of course the other 1.4 quarts increases the cost by 50% and no, they can't just put in 5 quarts... Figuring the value of time waiting, definitely going to stick to changing my own oil going forward and doesn't compare well to the other shop where I have more substantial work done. read more

Been getting tires for my cars from this location for about 4 years. I have never had any issues and the staff is great. They always work with me on price and offer great sales/rebates. Yes Firestone sells limited tires but that's because they sell quality. They don't offer a bunch of cheap crap. Yes they will offer you additional services but I have never felt pressured to purchase anything. (unlike the way i feel at the dealer) I personally like to know what potential issues I may have with my vehicles. This way I can decide what I want done or not. Last time I was in getting my tires rotated they found a blown rear axle seal that the dealer missed. Took to dealer and was fixed under warranty. I also love the lifetime free tire rotation, tire repair, and alignments. I agree, if you are concerned about a recommendation take it for second opinion. read more

Came in for a tire repair after calling on phone to confirm they offered plugs. Figured would do an oil change as well as was coming due soon. Dropped off car, 30 minutes later called to say they couldn't do the plug and had already started on the oil change so I couldn't stop them. Only need 5k miles to end of the lease and wouldn't purchase new tires and wouldn't sell me only 1 tire. Didn't say who would offer either patching or sell one tire in the area trying to bait me to buy 4 tires. Only reason selected the overpriced oil change was convenience to get it done with done with the tire repair. $65 for a standard oil change is insane and the fact they wouldn't repair my tire / wasted my lunch break and time / having to research options by myself at a tire is a reason for a 0 star review. read more

I've come to this store about 10 times now because its the closest one to me and I believe in giving benefit of doubt. I used to work for Firestone in Kalamazoo and the differences between these stores is overwhelming. I have nothing good to say, they've tried selling me parts I don't need or parts I personally have checked or replaced recently. Their customer service is horrendous, often only having 1 employee to deal with all the customers. The techs don't seem to care about their job and the work is slow and less than par. For example putting wheel weights for aluminum wheels on a steel wheel and thinking they'd hold (they didn't). Overall I've yet to have a good experience. They used to be very good and I began bringing in my car for service on a regular basis. Brakes, Oil Change, Transmission fluid change, Tires. Then they start pushing stuff like allignments and get an attutude when you say no thanks. Then a tire I purchase was going flat and they wanted $12.95 to look at it. I told them no and went to Discount tire and they found a nail in it and fixed it. No charge either, I ran down the street got a couple dozen donuts at a Duncan Donuts and went back and thanked them. I unfortunately have an appointment for an oil change tomorrow. I think I am going to cancel the damn thing because the service person was such an ass because I am so hearing impaired it irritated them. I ordered wheels off tire rack, and had them shipped to Firestone as they're the closest shop to me. I Didn't read the reviews beforehand, until after I completed my order so I was a little wary of the low ratings, but the guy at the front counter was amicable enough, replaced all 4 rims, no up sell at all and had me out in the time they said they would. They are a run of the mill OK business. GOOD: clean waiting room and the shop area, courteous staff, can schedule an appointment over the phone. BAD: an appointment scheduled over the phone means nothing, they put everyone in one queue. They don't explain what was done on the car. In my case, I was there for an alignment. They did it and gave me on a check out a stack of some papers without explanations. The papers had some "after" numbers in red (ie outside the range). Of course that worried me and I had to ask them for explanations. I was satisfied with what they said, but come on, why couldn't they anticipate my questions and go over the details of the work they did on my car as part of check out? Bad communication. read more

Could not trust these guys. Set an appointment for a "free" brake inspection. First thing they wanted to do was up sell a complete inspections, which I declined. Next they said they would charge me $15 to inspect my brakes, and refund that charge when I got the job done; which I could only assume would be overpriced or not even needed. Website is misleading.... it says and I quote ( AKA cut and pasted) "GET A FREE BRAKE ESTIMATE FROM ONE OF OUR 4000+ ASE-CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS" What that means is they will quote you a price for free once they charge you to inspect it. They were smoking by my car and bs'n while it was on the lift for an hour. SM didnt seem to mind either. The process in this store is broken. First time Boss(customer) visit and last too. - Made 'tire replacement only' appointment at 08:00 as a courtesy to them knowing how unpredictably busy they could possibly get during the day. - Walked in at precisely 08:00 and no one was there to greet me for several minutes - I was the only person on the floor. I poured myself a cup of coffee and upon my very first sip noticed it was from the day before - sales rep/manager confirmed this and apologized. - Waited for 2 hours 32 minutes before car was finished. Yes, 152 minutes to change four tires. - After nearly a half hour of waiting, another 'potential' customer arrived (who had no appointment). He had his oil changed and a bad tire inspected while my job was put on hold - he left a half hour before I got my car back. - Moments before receiving my vehicle, I overheard sales rep/manager remind mechanic to be sure to inflate 34/38PSI (front/back) per customer request and heard mechanic laugh loudly and boisterously - nearly hysterically. - It felt obvious that tirerack customers are afterthoughts and a non-priority. I overheard the manager/rep say they were short-handed with only one mechanic until noon and although I had an appointment, it didn't stop them from pulling the mechanic in the middle of my project to take care of a random stranger off the street. * Bottom Line - If you buy tires elsewhere but really want to save the extra $40ish by using this non-preferred installer, get the very first appointment of the day and STILL be prepared to take a backseat to ANYONE who walks through that door. I made an appointment to get new tires for me and my husband. 3 hours later, they came in and told us not only were they about halfway done with one car, they also broke the center caps on 3 of the 4 tires they took off... And nothing would be done about it. I am very patient an very polite but what is the point of making an appointment if you are still going to wait all day... They said they would do their best to get my car back to start on those next, but no promises. read more

If you like to waste your money, Firestone in Northville is the place to go. I dropped off my car for a brake job special, wound up paying for the rotors, brake fluid flush, and so on. I knew that the rotors were still good, but they said they will not machine them. Got a flat tire on my SUV. They said I need 4 brand new tires because the threads need to be even. It is true that thread on all tires should be equal, but since the tires had at least 2 more years of life, I decided to go to other place. They inspected the tires and said that the best option was to buy a used tire with the same thread depth. I did just that saving myself at least $600. Of course, Firestone carries only their tire brands, as such, they want to replace all 4 of them.They try to upsell on everything. read more

Allow me to update my review - if I could leave negative stars I would. Firestone Northville has undergone several staff changes in the last 8 months or so, and not for the good. I got some repairs done in June and was told I needed more done but they wouldn't do it as it was a time consuming repair and they had one mechanic. I went to Belle tire and they pointed out to me that the repair Firestone did was done dangerously wrong, forgetting to reconnect something important. I went right back to Firestone and their peace offering was a free oil change. OK, whatever. So in September I go to redeem the free oil change only to discover new management and employees. The rep groused about accepting the coupon but did, however charging me for the oil. Now, my latest issue is tires. The tires I got on 1/28, my original review. I went in for a rotation yesterday (which I do religiously) and was told I needed new tires. WTF? I purchased 65,000 BridgeStone tires and I barely had 20,000 miles on them. I was also told I needed an alignment, which I had September 30th. The sales rep told me I purchased 30,000 tires and I had 31,000 miles on them...ah, no. Went home, got my receipt and I was right - 65,000 mile tires and I had gotten them at 87,400 miles. So I called the manager and asked what could be done, and he told me that since I had 30,000 miles on them (even though it's 20,000, these guys can't do basic math) he can offer me the same brand for half off and a deal on installing them, but he wants to deal with me personally and I need to wait a week. Again, no. It would have cost me at least $300, even though I paid $650 18 months ago. Not to mention that I have to pay for an alignment again because your techs can't do the simplest of repairs. Still paying them off! I can't - and won't- fall for their BS again. Once you break my trust you won't see me or my money again. Stand behind what you sell. Shame on you. read more
