I have always had a good experience at this Firestone. For anyone that blasted them for making an appointment for a state inspection - that's not true, state inspections are only done M-F and are first come, first serve, so yes you may have a bit of a wait. I have found their recommendations helpful and services are not overpriced. They have done some warranty work as well. I'm glad I got the road hazard protection with my tires when I bought them, as it covered a defective valve stem when I had a slow air leak in one of the tires. It's a busy place, but I think they do a great job. For anyone that thinks it's ok to yell at a captive audience, it's not. Obviously if there's an issue, you want it fixed but getting rude and unprofessional is just classless and there's never a reason for it. The manager refunded me for having to buy a new key. Then I went back again and after I left both of my windshield wipers flew off while driving in the pouring rain. Never go here for an inspection or any other work. They tried to charge my friend over $2000 to get an inspection-- they failed him because he didn't think that was an accurate quote. He went to another mechanic and they said his car was in great condition minus his right mirror light. I dropped off my vehicle after scheduling an appointment for 2 services and a state inspection. I was told before that state inspections are first come, first serve. Which I get. The tech quoted me a couple hours since they had a couple in front of me, so I told them that was okay. I went ahead and left to do other things with my day. I drove past the Firestone multiple times and my vehicle sat for hours before moving into the shop. It's has been 5+ hours later and nobody had called me with an update, given the quoted time was "a couple hours". So after 8+ hours I decided to head to the shop and pick up my vehicle whether the services were completed or not. When I entered the lobby I see 4 guys sitting down. I find it a convenient coincidence that as soon as I walk in they begin to pull my vehicle out. I strongly believe that they were just sitting around. It took them 8+ hours to perform services that took them 3 hours the day prior on another vehicle of mine that I brought in. When I was asked to give my opinion on a company survey, I bombed them. The next day I got a call from Firestone store manager Mike and the desk guy was calling basically because I bombed them on the survey asking on what areas did they "fail" me in. From the start of the conversation he was very defensive, not even trying to listen to the customer and truly listening to me. He cut me off multiple times with defensive lines. After that I told him to have a great day and hung up. Had a tire ready to blow from a rough spot, traveling through, was able to stop and get in early at 9, staff was friendly and helpful. They are quite accustomed to the Sunday through traveler, being the only shop open on a Sunday. i needed to have my 2000 Mustang inspected. It failed due to a rusty radiator support. I was not surprised that a 25 yr old car has an issue with rust. It spent the first 17 yrs in NY state. Salt on the road 4 mos. out of the year. It has only 90K on the odometer. They never called to tell me that it failed. I called them at 5:00 in the pm and no one answered the phone. I called a short time later and the desk guy said the inspection failed and would have the tech call me. No one called. I went in the next morning and was told that they could not perform the repair and offered no reference for a company that may repair it. So much for "complete car care". I went to a local Ford dealership who looked at it and they referred me to their collision company. Their collision estimator looked at it a he said that Firestone may have confused a thru hole as a rusty hole. I went back to Firestone, but they refused to change their conclusion. I left without incident or comment. When I was asked to give my opinion on a company survey, I bombed them. They don't keep appointments very well, but the mechanics know their craft and they are honest.

A week ago my boyfriend and I came here to get an alignment done on his car. They were really busy so he decided to schedule an appointment the following Tuesday at noon. Note, they've worked on his car before, so he had a free alignment and scheduling was really easy. Come Tuesday, he drives over just in time for his appointment. They tell him they can't do the alignment because his "car is too low" and they didn't want to break or scrap anything. Reasonable, right? Except they have a) done the alignment on his car before and b) do alignments on Corvettes lower than his Honda Accord. They just didn't want to do it. Plain and simple. They make alignment racks for cars that are lowered, so there is no excuse other than the fact it wasn't what they wanted to do that day. read more

Last weekend, my wife, daughter and I were driving back from VA Tech when some dashboard brake warnings started flashing, so we pulled over and as soon as I got out of the Jeep, I smelled burning brake pads. I bent down and checked the rim and it was very hot, while all the others were barely warm. I figured I had a stuck brake caliper but didn't have any tools that could help me in the vehicle. We let the wheel cool down a bit and drove to Firestone in Harrisonburg at 3 in the afternoon and asked if they could take a quick look. I knew it was two hours until closing and I said I just needed to know if the Jeep would get us home safely. I was thinking I would need some work that would keep us in Harrisonburg overnight, but better safe than sorry. Nick at the front desk told me he couldn't make any promises about fixing the vehicle but would get it in to be looked at as soon as possible. I gave him my number and told him we would grab some food and wait for his call. A little over an hour and a half later Nick called us over to tell us that they looked at the Jeep, drove it around at higher speeds, did a complete and thorough brake inspection and everything was working fine. Nick said: "I could charge you for new calipers and pads, but you simply don't need them". I'm telling you this: In Ashburn, VA you will NEVER hear that from a mechanic- ever. Nick handed me my keys and said the brake check is a complimentary service and he was very confident the Jeep would be fine, and he and the mechanic who looked at the brakes think something just got caught and then worked its way out. We got home safely and the wheel was cool when we arrived so I suspect they were right. Nick, thank you for caring about me and my family and making sure we arrived home safely, and thank you for your honesty- that is so refreshing and heartening. I never leave reviews on Yelp, (literally this is my second time) but this story was worth it. Recently, I was told by someone I trust that my tires needed replacing. So, I went to Firestone to get them checked out. I've been a long time customer at Firestone (two years or more), and got my current tires from them under 20K miles ago (the receipt I kept shows it was a year and a half ago). The tires are supposed to have a 50K warranty, but after the front desk guy at Firestone checked them out, I was told that, they do need replacing and, because I hadn't had them rotated, they aren't under warranty. Hmmm... Funny thing is, I went to Firestone for all of my oil changes since I bought the tires. They recommended new brakes, along with a list of 4-5 other items throughout that time period (I asked them to write them down each time and I have them listed on my receipts from each oil change if you're interested...) but every trip they failed to mention needing a tire rotation. Funny how that works huh? You'd think the professionals would be responsible to help you know what to do and when right? They seemed to have no problem recommending things that took my money though! So things get better after this. I called their corporate office afterward to confirm this ridiculousness. After explaining my situation (not mentioning what the guy in the store said to see if I'd get a similar story), the woman on the phone said that the issue was a manufacturer thing(wow... that's not the same story...), and not a Firestone problem. She said I needed to contact Primewell tires to deal with it. I then explained that on Firestone's website, under "limited warranty" it clearly says they cover the Primewell tires I bought at their shop. In response, she paused, and magically seemed to change her mind and agree that the warranty did cover it now. Of course, she never mentioned anything about tire rotations voiding the warranty, but as soon as I mentioned that the guy at the store told me this, she again magically flipped back to saying they're not covered. Seriously?... Bottom line, after two years or more of being a customer here, they've tried to pull one too many cheap moves on me. If you want a shop that will recommend repairs that cost you money, but fail to recommend those that don't, go here. Otherwise, steer clear... literally. read more

I used this Firestone for all my maintenances over the last two years. They were very strong and reliable, and willing to help with anything BACK THEN. Over the last year I've had to bring my vehicles back on MULTIPLE occasions after having work done for them to fix an issue that was never resolved or created by them. I'm assuming there has been a lot of staff turn over. The current staff are unfriendly and rude, and work with zero urgency. Which makes me question weather I'm getting quality work or not since everyone seems so careless. I only return to this location for alignments since I purchased their life time alignment package. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this location unless you want to leave with more problems than when you arrived. Two stars is generous. read more

Saturday I visited 4 Harrisonburg locations trying to purchase a set of tires. The first 4the were unable to remove the rear tire that had problematic flat. At 5:00 I had resolved I was going to have to stay in Harrisonburg to have the work completed the next morning. Fortunately I stopped at Firestone. Logan could tell I was at my wits end, so he had Chris work his magic loosening the bad lug nut and replacing the tire. I cannot thank them enough. It was a long a frustrating day. I pleased for help as I had to be in Washington DC soon. Desperately, I went to NTW and at 4:30 PM, they graciously helped me. When I arrived, they said that the online system doesn't work and that they would not squeeze me in for an oil change. The associate I spoke with was very rude and unhelpful. I've been to this firestone multiple times, and while they were always a bit rude I assumed it was due to how busy they get. Today I made an appointment and was told it would be under two hours for my car to be ready, the time was confirmed when I dropped off my car. Two hours and one minute after I dropped my car off I received a phone call in which I was told my car was "almost done." I waited two more hours before going in to pick up my car because I was running errands; upon arrival and asking for my car they appeared to have lost my paperwork. I watched the front desk attendant search and yell at mechanics for seven minutes before he returned and said it would be another ten minutes because they hadn't even started my alignment. I am usually a rather patient person but after being told my car would be ready in two hours multiple times and returning four hours later to pick it up with it still not being complete I was over it. They tried to blame me and how busy they were repeatedly and never once apologized or acknowledged having lost my car's paper work. Beyond that, they can't seem to figure out my account and make me redo and lookup my account number and payment method every time I come even though they state every time they will save my info in my file. At 2:30pm on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, my college son called to let me know he was stranded on the side of the road, just south of Harrisonburg, 1/2 way to his final destination of WVU. We used our roadside service and was able to get him towed to your shop. The car and son arrived at 4:30. The shop closes at 5pm. I took my company vehicle here to get an oil change and while they took my truck back within 5 minutes, it took over an hour before the service was completed. Part of the service package also included a tire rotation. My front tires are inflated to 60 and my back tires are 80. When they rotated the tires they didn't bother changing the tire pressure let alone correcting it. I brought my car in to get inspected yesterday. My car is in perfect condition, and has only 18,000 miles on it. I was told by Firestone that my car failed inspection because I needed shocks. The cost would be $545.62. I told Firestone to forget about it and I brought my car to a different mechanic. Needless to say my car did NOT need shocks and passed inspection with flying colors. I was also told that my Firestone complaint was not the first. Firestone just lost a customer, and hopefully more once I spread the word, because of their GREED. read more

Horrible. I brought my car in for a simple inspection and they failed it for 4 different things. I knew something was off so I took my car somewhere else and they said that nothing was wrong and that it passed inspection. Firestone just wants your money, don't take your car there for an inspection. They told me it would have been upwards of $1000 for repairs all the while I didn't even need them at all. Bottom Line: The Service Manager will stand by their work and do right by the customer! My daughter took my vehicle there for service as the belt was creating a squeal. The technician found that the serpentine belt needed to be removed and replaced. My daughter picked up the car and found that the squeal was still present. I arranged a car sway with her and found that the serpentine belt was installed with a tension level well below specs. After tightening the belt, the sound went away and the vehicle is working as advertised. I called the service manager for the store and explained the story above; without hesitation, he offered a refund on labor. He was very apologetic for the hassle the service caused me. He really regretted the issue wasn't really discovered until I had the vehicle some 300 miles away... he couldn't use that as a teaching opportunity for his technician. Odd isn't it, to give a 4* rating for poorly completed maintenance work? Yes, it is, but I put great value in a manager willing to admit a problem and rectify it. Lost my business today. I always went to firestone for my car needs. I called in the morning about a state inspection and they said it'd be "about 2 hours" until they could get it in the shop since they don't take appointments for inspections. I brought it in 2 hours later and was told it'd be a few more hours. I asked about the possibility of the next morning and the gentleman helping me rolled his eyes and gave me a look like it was a ridiculous question. Over the years have purchased tires multiple times & always received good service. Needing new tires when inspection was due scheduled an inspection at that time. In addition to replacing tires as requested they proceeded to tell me my car need over $500 additional work to pass inspection including an engine mount & a suspension arm that would also require $75 alignment. Elected not to have these additional things done but deferred to my husbands judgement. Had also been told wiper blades were torn & needed to be replaced that were only 7 months old! After replacing wiper blades & a light bulb over license plate took car to the (very reputable) garage that we usually use for inspections & guess what it passed inspection! Well worth paying an additional $16 for a new inspection. Have learned since then that numerous other people have had same experience, easy way for them to make extra money if you don't question them I guess. Needless to say Firestone will not be getting any more of my business! Don't go there for inspection unless you want to spend a lot of money for no reason. read more

My daughter, who is a senior at JMU took her car in to be inspected. The car was rejected and Jordan , her service advisor gave her an estimate for repairs totaling $741.06 . They recommended that the car was unsafe to drive and that the work be done immediately. She brought the car home and I took it to a trusted mechanic who replaced the front brakes and rotors and inspected it for $185.00. They wanted to charge $313.00 for the same work. They also required both lower front bushings for another $320.00 which the car did not need , as well as suggesting alignment for $84.99. I would not go back there if it was free ! It has become quite a lesson for my daughter. They prey on college kids , especially females. I hope that others are forewarned by her experience . read more

We experienced a blowout on 81 and they took great care of us; changed the tire, checked the other 3 tires and we were on our way in less than an hour. The service was amazing, the tech were knowledgeable and comforting, and the garage was state of the art. If I lived closer, they would take care of all my automotive needs. read more
