I stopped by early Saturday morning to see about getting my tires rotated and two front shocks put…read moreon they told me they could do the tire rotation, but they cannot do the shocks because they close early. I was like I have the shocks they don't take long to put on, the guy rudely said sounds like you got it figured out

People were nice, they got me in right away, which was also great. But the brake job they did was…read moresubpar at best. Following the brake job they did on my wife's car, the brakes continued making a noise, so I took it elsewhere. That's I learned Downtown Automotive Repair failed to torque the bolts holding my brake caliper in place. So one bolt vibrated out while driving 2 weeks after they "repaired it" and the other bolt was begining to unthread itself (hence why the noise started). In my case they botched a very simple/ straight forward repair. They might do good for simple stuff like tires, but I wouldn't trust them with any major repair, and definately not for something as important as brakes. They are nice people though, so I think their heart is in the right place. I just think they are essentually a tire shop that occasionally does "other stuff." Which struck me as odd because their was a race trailer/ hot rod parked out back of their shop. So somebody there knows how to wrench (owner?), but definately not their shop employees . . . hopefully they can turn things around, because they seem like nice people, and I prefer supporting local businesses.

Cost of labor is too high for a shop that consistently turns away costumers needing work…read moresame-day/next-day. Everytime I go in there they schedule me at least a week out and I figure out how to do the job myself by then lol and save myself the cost of labor, so thanks for that atleast

I have thought long and hard about writing a review about Crawfordville Automotive repair. I have…read moresubmitted service on 5 vehicles in the past. When Dan was running it. He made sure the mechanics did the job for the cost of the repair. Since then, I took my Truck in to have a routine ballpoint replacement (upper lower). I left town on a trip and never got a call letting me know it was finished. (2 weeks later) I called before I took a flight back to make sure it was finished. "yes sir, we are getting ready to finish it tomorrow" (The day I was scheduled to land back in Leon County) Well, the ball joints where definitely put back into the arms (upper/lower arms). And, when it came time to service (grease joints). The orffes on bottom joints had been permatexed shut. Meaning they didn't put any grease fitting on. And the mechanic didn't' forget he simply glued the hole. If you don't know, that means you cant add grease to make the joints last. I asked Mr James about it. "we would never do that" I replied "this truck has never been anywhere else"!!! He then said it would be 2 hours labor but would never return my call after the 3 call? I am now needing new ball joints again... 2 years later. The joints cost me $1400.00 Now they need replaced again 2 years later because they cant be greased and run dry... Crawfordville Automotive failed to communicate!! You should not need to replace ball joints in 2 years unless they run dry... And, never should they be permatexed closed so that they cant be serviced (greased) This is very basic service and the unskilled craftsmanship has cost me too much money to continue patronizing the business.. I wish Dan was still in charge. He wold have answered the call and set up maintenance! Loss of Trust
