I was a bit nervous about Firestone after I had dropped my car off right before closing to get a coolant leak figured out seeing some of their reviews. I got a quote a little higher than I wanted, so I called around and it was about 200$ more at both places I called. As a female college student who has a mechanic for a dad, I had some questions I wanted to ask to make sure I wasn't being ripped off. When I called Firestone back to ask those questions, I spoke to a woman needed to put me on hold about three times to get answers. Finally, she came back and somehow the price had gone up about 40$. I asked her how that was possible and she said "I don't know that's just how it is." I asked her another question and she then proceeded to hang up on me, as if my car was not literally parked at the shop to be worked on. I immediately called back and a man named Matt answered the phone. Matt was more professional than the woman I spoke to and answered all my questions and listened to my concerns. I think due to the woman being unprofessional and hanging up on a paying customer, they gave me a discount which was very much appreciated. When I went to pick up my car, the woman then rudely questioned my discounted price in front of me. My discounted quote was upheld. Firestone was able to get me in very quickly and get the parts needed quickly as well. While I don't appreciate being hung up on for simply asking rather routine questions, every other staff member I spoke to was very nice and helpful. If I could, I would give negative stars as I got an oil change and waited two hours. On the way home my oil pressure light was going off and I thought because I just got an oil change I didn't think anything of it. Come to find out the completely wrong oil filter was put in my car resulting in my engine to lock up and now have to pay for a brand new engine. Customer service was awful as when I called to ask what could be the problem the day of the oil change they said "I don't know what could be causing it" and not know the issue, let alone put a completely wrong oil filter in a car and letting the customer leave knowing it was wrong, what if it was your car? read more

Avoid this place! I went to Firestone a couple of days ago to fix a single tire with a small leak. After they "inspected" it, they claimed the tire was "non-repairable" and immediately quoted me over $180 for a replacement tire. I declined and decided to get a second opinion across the street at Tire Discounters. They confirmed the tire was repairable for only $40 which saved me over $140! Bottom line: don't trust this place. They seem to take advantage of students and others who might not know much about car repairs. Go to the shop next door instead! I had tried to get my truck worked on here and they had originally told me about 400 for a hub replacement and the only other thing I needed was a brake line after I had waited 3 days already he had told me a quote after already getting all of the parts in that he would have to makeshift a brake line for my base model Silverado 1500 and explained that a fitting for it would be $250 which I know is untrue I came up here to visit for the weekend and now have been stuck here due to someone named Steven trying to take advantage of me and my situation. If I had my own parts and tools I could've done it by myself I trusted this shop and was willing to pay for labor but $2,160 is absurd for just that claiming I need all new brakes when I've only lost half an inch of brake fluid this place runs on highway robbery. This place WILL overcharge you, will not communicate with you, and will not even preform the service properly. I paid genuinely double what I should have to get my alternator replaced and it failed four days later. My car was there for over a week which was completely unnecessary and no one contacted me to tell me that it would take so long. Discovered a flat tire at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Called the store, which advertised they were open until 5:00 p.m. I was told they only had one tech that afternoon, but that they could definitely fix my tire. They were serving another customer when I arrived, but got to me quickly and I was back on the road in about an hour. Repair charge was $20 for repair and balance - and the tech even used a torque wrench when remounting the tire. Very friendly and satisfactory service. read more

I took my car here a few days ago and made an appointment to get a hole patched on my tire. After waiting over an hour I am told that the hole is too close to another patch to patch it again, he then tells me I'll need a whole new tire and says the only one he has in stock costs almost $200 for the entire job. Mind you, I planned to come in and pay $20 for a patch. I tell him no thanks I'll get a tire somewhere else. My friend also needed a hole patched on his tire so he goes there and they tell him the same thing. After hearing that asked a different shop and they quoted me $104 for a new tire I also asked them if they could check and see if it could be patched because I think Firestone is lying. It turns out they could patch my tire, and they didn't see a hole near another patch. So, In conclusion, don't go to this place unless you want to be scammed. read more

If you are looking for a dishonest repair facility you will find it at Firestone of Blacksburg, VA. It might not be the worst repair shop in Blacksburg, VA but it has that reputation. They will replace any parts they have in stock for your car, it doesn't matter that your car does not need those parts. This is the stereotypical shop that preys on college students that simply do not know enough to walk away from a group of dishonest mechanics. My daughter's car needed one hose replaced in her car which should have been about $200 at the most including labor. Over $800 later she had every hose replaced and the radiator too. The only good thing I can say about this place is it does appear that they did actually replace the parts they charged her for. Don't take your car there for inspection, their inspectors expect you to have your car as the day it was made, don't you dare to put a sticker or EZ-pass on your windshield because they'll reject it. Also, I just spent $1200 worth on tires from them, my truck went in with all the valves cap and came out of their shop with new tires but not new valves and missing all 4 caps. I also called there to let them know that I'd like to keep 2 of my old tires, when I went to get my truck they have disposed all 4 of them. Their new staff really suck! My daughter is attending school at VT. I asked her to get her oil changed before heading home, even though we get free oil changes with the dealer we purchased our car from. They told her that there were 6 bulbs out and that she also needed four new tires as they would not pass inspection and were dangerous to drive on. Her tires are 13-months old and look great. Tread depth was barely worn from new. All of the bulbs that they told her were out, were working fine. We've all heard stories about people being taken advantage of but this is next level. Turning off I-81 towards Blacksburg, the check-engine light suddenly came on and my car began to shake violently. I had just filled up the gas tank amid the Colonial pipeline gas shortage, so I suspected it was bad gas. Roadside assistance towed me to Firestone Complete Auto Care. They were terrific! The communication was clear and professional. They identified the problem as a faulty coil, and replaced it and the spark plugs for a very reasonable price. I really appreciated the respectful, professional treatment I received, especially as a female customer from out of town, during the gas crisis. read more

Soooo. While road trip, my tire blew out. On a Sunday!!! Needless to say I had about 500 miles more to go before reaching home. I tried SEVERAL places and first place didn't have my tires (run flats) or size. Second place had my size but not a run flat and REFUSED to change it stating they "couldn't because of lawsuits"??? Desperate I went here and luckily they had my tire in stock. It was not a run flat but they were able to change my tire and get me back on the road. Customer service was awesome. I'm a do-it-yourself-er on everything with my vehicles. However as I learned here in VA, State safety inspections is something you are unable to perform yourself, and need to trust a certified shop with the keys to your vehicle to perform the inspection for you. So I took on my girlfriends Chevy Sonic for the State-Inspection. Granted this place is about two minutes from where I live. I'm giving them a five star rating due to the awesome customer service. They even brought me home as they were a bit booked and would be a few hours before getting to the car for inspection. The only down vote I would give, is the up-sell attempt of a cabin air-filter replacement for $59.99. Most filters are about $20 and take less then twenty seconds to install. But I suppose they are just trying to make a profit to keep the lights on. So I will not penalize a star from them. Over all great and quick experience. Will likely bring my tires to mount on my wheels when needed. read more

I've taken my cars here for a number of years (and been a Firestone customer for over 10 years) but today was the last time. I called on April 18th about being my car in for an oil change and state inspection. Knowing that you can't make an appointment for a state inspection at most places in Virginia, it was confirmed that I could bring it by on April 28th to have the services completed. I got there at 9:30am to drop the car off for the oil change and inspection as I was on my way to work and I was told that I had missed the window for state inspections that day. I was not going to be picking the car up until 6:30pm that evening, so in the 9 HOURS that it was going to sit there on their lot it couldn't have an inspection or oil change? I was told that it could possibly be done Saturday, but how was I to believe that if you couldn't inspect it during the time it was going to be there today. I was never told during my phone conversation on the 18th that I needed to have it there any earlier than 9:30am. Needless to say, I will never go back to this location or Firestone. Last time I took one of my cars there they forgot to state inspect it, with me having to bring it back the NEXT day to have it done, so this wasn't the first time having an issue with this location. As someone who runs a retail store, I expect a little bit better customer service And have an understanding that mistakes happen. I get COVID has changed the service industry as a whole, but this situation could have been handled differently by the customer service at this location. read more

i am begging you please never ever go here if you are a woman or a young adult. they WILL over charge you and they WILL scam you, they WILL try to talk you into getting stuff done that you do not need at all. i went to get an alignment and my ac recharged and they charged me almost $400. im just a college student and that is a ton of money for me. then they proceeded to tell me i needed a new power steering pump, new breaks, completely new ac system, a completely new timing system, a coolant fluid flush etc adding up to over 4k in repairs. all the while my check engine light wasn't even on, my breaks make no noise and my steering has never made a noise or been hard to steer at all. however i know very little about cars, and seeing the 4k bill made me freak out and have a major mental breakdown. When i finally got a mechanic family friend to look at it he laughed out loud the only thing my car actually needed is my break pads and rotors are getting a little low. in addition, brooklyn was very rude and when i asked her about the prices she belittled me. please i beg you to stay far far away from here. read more

We worked with Scott and I think the other guy's name was James. They were able to figure out the problem with the car and get it fixed. The price wasn't outrageous either. I went to firestone, downtown Roanoke with a 9 o'clock appointment. Not only did it take them until 12 to do a oil change and tire rotation but the tech hit the wall and damaged my bumper, they offered to pay but refused to get me a rental now i have to take them to court. I have had a few issues with service I want to bring to your attention. I bought a set of tires and was told an alignment couldn't be done because my passenger side idler arm had too much play. The next service (transmission replacement) that was performed, I asked that the idler be checked because it was under warranty by a competitor and they were going to replace it. I was told that it was fine and didn't have any play. I just had to have the idler arms replaced, out of warranty as well as the front tires because the idler arms were in truth bad and caused wearing of the inside of the tires. The cost was almost $800. While the van was there for the transmission swap, I was told the oil pressure sender was cracked, leaking and needed replaced. I had replaced the distributor a couple of weeks prior and knew the sender to be in good shape and told that to the caller. I was informed that the tie rod end had been replaced because it was broken during the service. When I picked the vehicle after the transmission swap, it ran very erratically, the rpm's went high to low to high again, without changing the pressure on the accelerator. The shifter could not be place in the lower positions(3,2,1) only D. I returned it to the shop and left a note. I was told the speed sensor was broken. It was replaced. I had asked that the safety switch be replaced if it needed replaced. When I picked up the van the second time I was told the safety switch was never unplugged for fear the connector would fall apart, had I been told this during service I would have asked that it be replaced as well. I had planned to replace the steering gear box myself and had ordered a replacement. While it was there for the transmission swap, I asked that the gear box be replaced. The old gear box was put in the interior of the van, leaking power steering fluid. It was not bagged, just put in the box from the replacement. After picking up the van, when I was under the hood checking fluids, I found that the steering shaft cover had not been placed back on the shaft, I assume it was removed and discarded when the original gear box was removed as it was not in the box with it. The cover was in good condition before service can't be replaced without completely removing the steering gear box. With so many things being broken during service, I have to question what other damage was done. Was the oil sender broken when the engine/transmission sub frame assembly was removed from the van? Was the speed sensor broken during service? Too many things have happened for it all to be coincidence and has seriously damaged any confidence in the service staff there. read more

It was quick service. My only complaint is I think they were dishonest with the pricing. Since I'm a young college student, who is also female, I guess they thought I wouldn't know how much an oil change cost. They tried to charge me almost $60 for my oil change. Never in my life have I heard of an oil change being that much. After showing a little bit of skepticism he told me "Oh actually we have a coupon that'll bring it down to $35"..that seems a little bit sketchy to me. We've used Firestone for all of our basic automotive needs for the past two years. The staff is very friendly and our service has always been completed in a timely manner. Don't go in expecting an oil change in 15 minutes, but if you set up an appointment prior or if you drop off your vehicle, they will always provide great service. If you go to Firestone, it is worthwhile to sign up for their credit card, you get one free oil change per year and good deals on the rest of your care care needs. For example, credit card members always get $10 off every oil change. Being a college town, Firestone offers lots of coupons in the college coupon books; you should really take advantage of these before you make a visit. read more
