The food here is terrible.The bartender Matt is really rude.The whole place smells really bad.I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We stopped in around 3pm for a late lunch/early dinner and we were seated right away by a someone who seemed like it may have been their first day. Very polite and attentive! After a few minutes, our waitress came over and we placed our order. I have been here multiple times before and their house made cheeseburger soup is AWESOME. A must get if you stop in. My partner and I just wanted to split a few things so we ordered the Grazianos Italian Nachos as a started and split a bowl of cheeseburger soup and a Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. Our waitress caught on to us splitting and without requesting, split the "bowl" of soup into 2 cups without charging us extra and even split the sandwich and fries between 2 plates and gave us each the fixings and an extra bun ALL FOR NO EXTRA COST. It was such a nice gesture, we were so surprised and hadn't even thought to ask. We made sure to leave a generous tip for the hospitality. Food was hot, fresh, and tasty! Sandwich was huge (a must for a tenderloin sandwich) and the cheeseburger soup was delicious as always. The inside of the restaurant has a fun townie bar vibe to it, which I find quite charming. All in all, a great experience and I'll always come back for that soup! read more

Normal freezing day in Dec. we were welcomed with an open door. We came for a quick lunch. Seated right away by the cozy fireplace. I ordered the Cobb Salad. Best I've had in a very long time. I usually come here for there special events. They have psychic readings once a month. The food is really good. I recommend the cheeseburger pizza. It's a typical sports bar inside and the staff is quick. Very friendly place for a quick meal or to just sit and watch a game. They work with large groups very well and provide outside catering for your events. read more

I wish Yelp would allow you to give 1/2 stars because I would really like to give it 3.5 stars. We went there for the first time this weekend and decided to try a variety of food. We got the sampler platter appetizer, cup of soup of the day-chicken noodle, bowl of the cheeseburger soup, ultimate ham and cheese sandwich, French dip sandwich, and 12" crab Rangoon pizza. We all left very full and each of had a favorite of what we ate. For my daughter it was the ultimate ham and cheese sandwich. My wife really enjoyed the crab Rangoon pizza. I really really enjoyed the tater tots and onion rings. That may sound weird that the sides that came with our sandwiches were my favorite but they were cooked perfectly. They were crunchy and had lots of tater tot and onion ring flavor, not soggy and tasting like the oil they were cooked in. We will definitely be going back to try a new variety of food to enjoy. Lastly I want to give a heads up that the sweet chili sauce on the crab Rangoon pizza was a little spicier than I was expecting. read more

This used to be one of my favorite stops in Altoona. It should have been a dead give away that the parking lot was a ghost town on a Saturday night. The server was young and nervous - so we were gracious but we found the establishment itself a bit dirty and under kept. My 4 year old daughter poured the cup of crayons out to find a USED dried up dip pouch. My Cajun Turkey melt was sauced so heavily that it was falling apart and not the least bit enjoyable. My daughter's chicken Parm Pasta had a soggy chicken patty. Unfortunately I think our 4 year olds frozen chicken nuggets were the best part. I debated between a two and a three before ultimately settling on a two. Our server was attentive. That was nice. However, I wasn't overly impressed by any of the food. I bought the appetizer sampler to share. The chicken tenders were stringy and tough, suggesting they were over cooked. The mozzarella sticks and the spin dip were rather lackluster as well. I had the tenderloin as my entree and while large, was lacking in flavor. Also, the place had no reception for my phone and there was no indication that WiFi was available. We went there for late lunch at 3:00. We had one waitress to take the drinks. They were not very social. Then another waitress took our order, she was very nice. Our appetizer came, cheese balls. They were in cube form. Looked okay but once we bit into them they were still doughy and we're very undone. One person got a grilled tenderloin, it came out cold, like from the fridge cold. A couple of us got chicken, the grilled chicken was severely overdone, it was very rubbery. The breaded chicken was underdone, still slimy and chewy. We visited the Fireside Grill with a party of 7 on Saturday, September 16, 2023. The restaurant was clean and we were promptly greeted by our server. We ordered and our food was delivered hot and tasty. Several of us ordered the giant tenderloin. It was delicious. The owner/manager came out to explain they had gone back to their original vendor for this tenderloin. Our server was attentive and stopped by several times to check if everything was ok. Attended a friend's 40th birthday party in Fireside's private/party room this past Saturday... It was my first time there and the staff really made a good impression on me. Everything was really casual and almost had a dated feel to it...but that's not a bad thing. The restaurant catered in chips, queso and salsa, pizza, pitchers of fountain drinks, and a sundae bar for us. They served us a wide variety of pizza and none of it sucked. The chicken alfredo pizza was very good. We could order from the regular menu and the bar if we wanted more than the items available in the room. The appetizers a few of the party-goers brought in looked REALLY good. I don't get out to Altoona too much from the West side, but next time I'm out at the outlets or Bass Pro I'll probably slide back over to downtown Altoona, take a seat at the Fireside, and order up a meal. read more

FIRESIDE GRILLE in Altoona catered my wedding earlier this month. 51 of my guests started having food poisoning symptoms around the same time early the next morning, some having symptoms lasting 48 hours or longer. Everyone that got sick had a few things in common, they ate the food from Fireside Grille and they all got sick around the same time. I called the Fireside Grille manager immediately after realizing that a lot of my guests were having these issues. I felt the manager had no concern for the fact that so many people became ill, and tried to find blame in it being caused by something else. I then called the Iowa Health Department to have this investigated. They did an investigation into the Fireside Grille restaurant and found 5 violations, one of them being that they had meat stored at 44.7 degrees F. Any meat stored at a temperature higher than 40 degrees F. Can grow bacteria rapidly, causing illness. (This is all public information, btw) I'm writing this review to warn people, because I feel Fireside Grille won't take any accountability and it could happen again. read more

I ordered the Jumbo Pork Tenderloin, described as a fried pork tenderloin. It's not a pork tenderloin. It's a breaded and frozen and then fried amalgamation of leftover pork bits like you would get out of a warmer at Casey's, only this one costs $9. Imagine if you ordered filet mignon (beef tenderloin), but were served a frozen hamburger patty. That's this, only hamburger is quite a bit better than this. I gave 2 stars because I ordered for delivery through Foodsby, and maybe it would have been slightly better if served fresher. read more

Better than average bar and grill that supports the community. Always seen supporting school district and community sponsored events of all kinds. Good food, pretty good atmosphere and they cater too. Only negative is that sometimes the wait staff is a little slow. Good place for lunch, watching the game or an evening out with friends or family. Restrooms and dining are always clean. Recently attended a wedding catered by Fireside and the food was really good. Guests happily indulged. They often offer events DJ trivia, live music and other entertainment with some arcade games in the back. read more

The problem is while on the phone I could hear someone admitting to getting the order wrong. The guy on the phone agreed to redo but put it on me to come in and pick it up. We walked in and stood by the door for several minutes before being seated because apparently no one saw us walk in. Then when who I assume was the manager sat us he was friendly and assisted us with high chairs. We waited for 40 minuets before someone even came to take our drink order. Then another 15 before she came back for our food order. Once our food arrived we didn't see her again til we flagged her down for our check. I love trivia night!!!! My family and I come on Wednesday Trivia nights and we absolutely love it. We always have a great time. The food is yummy American food! I'd recommend the buffalo chicken sandwich! All the pizzas are really good as well! It is definitely on the loud side, especially during trivia. All the waitresses are great and they do their best on the very busy trivia nights. It's completely free to play, and you can win a gift card for your next visit, so I'd recommend giving this place a chance if you want a night of fun trivia and good food. read more

This place was just okay. I enjoyed the food but the customer service really wasn't all there. I for one am a huge fan and stickler about customer service and how others should be treated when they're catering in for a nice dinner. I felt as if our waiter didn't want to wait on us, or that we had ruined his night just for coming out for some food. Although the pizza was done quickly, it was a little dark around the edges, which isn't a big deal. But I feel they should ask how you'd like it done as in some people in my family don't like it crispy. We came in last Saturday night to hear Joe Inman and band play. When we arrived close to 8:00 there were several empty tables that had not been cleaned off. We asked the very young hostess if she could clean a table off so we could side and she did, however, there were 2 tables put together and she only cleaned the 1. We sat at the clean table and waited for over 10 minutes just to order a drink. The 2nd table never got cleaned off until we asked for it to be cleaned over 2 hours later. It was disgusting to look at and the waitress never once took it upon herself to clean it. The floor was dirty and wait staff was slow. I understood the band was a last minute deal but still management should have called in additional staff to assist. Also, they ran out of limes and mules were the special - how does that happen when there is a Fareway across the street? May try again on another night but was not impressed. read more
