Chef is king of sous vide. The beef short ribs and the chicken marsala were both delightful, very tender -- no need for a knife. Wine choices were 6 bottles that our waiter presented to us-- we chose the Vinsur Literal Cabernet/lSyrah 2018, which was from Ensenada and a nice wine, though a bit pricey at $60 USD. There are only 7 tables. We were told to arrive at 6PM sharp, the only time we could possibly be squeezed into a very tight Thursday night schedule. We were at the restaurant for 2+ hours. 3 of the "fully booked" tables were empty. 5 couples walked into the restaurant looking for dinner but all were turned away. We wondered why Firenze would decline business but liked our dinner, feeling privileged that somehow we were among the chosen ones. read more

Excellent find! Family of four, all had something different and all were excellent. Had the Grouper, short ribs, bolognese and spaghetti. All four had excellent flavors and very tasty. Probably one of the best Italian meals of my life- in Mexico, go figure! They will customize any pasta you like...I had garlic shrimp over bowtie pasta with a mixed salad with candied pecans in a sweet balsamic drizzle. They also serve a soft Italian bread with olive oil and balsamic dip. A nice break from tostadas, tacos, y fajitas. And for those sin español, plenty of English-speaking, attentive waiters here. Prices are very reasonable compared to the US, but high for Mexico. But you absolutely get what you pay for! read more

Probably the worst entrees we've had in San Miguel de Allende. My partner had a pasta dish and the pasta was almost raw. Definitely not al dente. My meat was so tough it could practically not be cut. Neither of us ate the main courses. The appetizers of salad was adequate. No one asked if there was an issue with the meals since they were not eaten. what the bill was present it to me I commented that we were disappointed. Manager became very arrogant and I told him but I would like to pay the bill and leave. read more

Food was good but overpriced. They claimed there was no wine or drink list so of course drinks ended up being the most expensive we have encountered in the city. With that little detail I would not return as San Miguel has so many great options that will not deceive you on your drinks bill. read more

Everything we had was outstanding - the two appetizer specials, short ribs and steak. I will come back for the short ribs alone. Firenze is one of the best restaurants in San Miguel. They're a hidden treasure in the center of town not far from the Jardin. This restaurant serves delectable dishes, like the boneless short ribs that are so tender they melt in your mouth. My daughter had their delicious spaghetti bolognese. My husband had the fish special--sea bass, prepared in a delicious white wine sauce with capers and olives, on a bed of mashed potatoes, with a side of green beans and zucchini. Before dinner we shared the sautéed calamari and the bruschetta. Both were delicious! They offer two desserts, a chocolate cake and panna cotta, which we shared because we were so full. We heard good things about Firenze from people we had met in SMA and we enjoyed, but it could have been better. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed and not experienced enough to come to grips with it. We had to ask twice and wait 20 minutes to get menus. The Salmon Belly appetizer was unexceptional. Our entrees saved the eve, however, and we will be back. My wife had a Robolo sautéed Livornese style and I had the special pasta which was a duck ragu. Both were very good. read more

Had dinner here in early April of 2019. Great food, attentive service, just a tiny bit pretentious, but their kitchen more than makes up for that. I would eat here again any night of the week. Only giving this restaurant a 2 star. Their service was terrible. Reservations were made a week ahead of time and confirmed 2 hours before. When we arrived they said we did not have reservations. I suspect they gave our table away. We were eventually seated but our evening was ruined. read more

We went expecting great things given the rave reviews. Guess that is never the mind set to go in with. It was OK. Not over the top special, and definitely not a place to go if you are hungry! Nice presentations though. Service was good. No written wine list, the waiter is the wine list, which is cute but leaves prices indeterminate! Will probably keep trying other places. read more
