I was in Biloxi for a convention, and we had an hour to go grab something to eat before the evening sessions. I was with a group, and they decided to go to Firehouse Subs for dinner. This would be the first time in over a decade that I had been to a Firehouse Subs... I think the last time was when I went to one on St George Island, but I think that location has closed. This is a chain fast-food restaurant, so already the base is three stars, and they have to do something really impressive to get that rating to move in either direction. The food is the same across the country, so you should get the same thing no matter which one you go to... at which point it all boils down to customer service. I had a sandwich with a drink, which was fine. Nothing impressive, but also not bad. It was filling and enough to keep me going for the evening. Then after getting another job in Biloxi, I discovered this Firehouse Subs! The staff is so well-trained and incredibly friendly! The food is good enough - what I expect from a national chain sub place - but it's just annoying when every time we order (always via the online system) they still leave things off. During the pandemic, we're trying to adhere to social distancing, etc. Firehouse advertises that they offer curbside pickup, so we made an order. When you get there, they say to call to let them know you're there. We did, and no one answered. Repeatedly. Then, we started getting a busy signal (they had obviously taken the phone off the hook to avoid running our order out). My colleague and I went to Firehouse for lunch today. When we returned to our office, I saw that my sandwich order was not correct. I called and they wowed me with incredible service. The owner or manager (not sure which) brought me a new sandwich! With another pickle slice and a coupon for a free sandwich! Everyone makes mistakes, including businesses--it's how a place (or person) corrects their mistakes that counts! And this was above and beyond. Soy colleague had the New York steamer sub and lived it. I got the lower calorie turkey and cranberry and it was yummy. I really liked my cherry limeade. Had my lunch been delivered by a group of hunky fire fighters driving over in their truck would have made this better! Hahaha! Great service--seriously, above and beyond. My boyfriend and I go here quite regularly and have never had a problem. Great food but some the crew just provides the WORST customer service. We came in before they closed and there was someone ahead of us. The man at the register told his coworkers that "he got this" and decided to look at his "imaginary" watch as he spoke to my boyfriend. Like actually held up his wrist like he had a watch on as we ordered. He stated rudely he didnt have the bread we wanted so we just left. I've never had ANYONE behave so rudely to a customer. I love this restaurant, the food is always wonderful. I always order the steak and cheese or the Virginia Honey ham. The subs are so delicious that they melt in your mouth and the flavors of the meat and cheeses and veggies such as onions and peppers and sauce is amazing. Okay, well I heard firehouse subs was supposed to be great. This one is not. I ordered their advertised special, I had never been here before and figured if it had posters everywhere that must be the one they would have right! Boy was I disappointed. I ordered the brisket and cheddar, the meat was very dry and I could not see nor taste any cheddar. The sub was dripping with the bbq sauce it was so overpowering that was all you could taste. The teenagers running the shop were more interested in talking with each other than in making sure the sub was made properly. I was the only customer in the shop at the time and believe me when I say I will never be accustomed in that shop again. It is a shame really because the premise behind the shop and the support to our first responders is what first drew me there, and the recommendation. It is too bad that a badly run franchise will bring disfavor upon the name! I am a retired veteran and cannot in good conscience recommend this place. I went to the Biloxi's store and the service could have been faster. I only got 2 chili's and it was my first time trying this place. The chili taste like canned hormel and I will never eat their again. The cost is ridiculous 10 dollars for two small bowls of chili. Best hoagies on the coast. You can actually get a pastrami sandwich with brisket. Bread is soft and light and all made to order with a sliced dil to finish it off. They have a high speed soda machine that takes getting used to but all in all a great place. read more

I must say everyone was very polite and pretty fast considering the circumstances of being new. I was disappointed with the amount of meat on the sandwich. It tasted more like bread and toppings. Also, I had way more meat on one side than the other. Food tasted hot and fresh though. My biggest complaint would be the lay out. First off it's backwards. I had to figure out where to order and then figure out how do I get through all these people that were waiting on their food. I'm also still hungry. Except for perhaps a single visit, I've always had good to superior customer service at this Firehouse. It's the kind of place where employees often know your name and remember what you like if you go there enough. Everyone knows how to do every job in the order-taking, sandwich-making and serving process, and the operation behind the counter is well-oiled. They'll give you, as a lagniappe, as many extra pickles as you want. The food: there are at least two other sub shops within eyeshot of this Firehouse, and neither holds a candle: Jimmy John's is behind by at least a yardstick, and Subway misses by a country mile. The first thing you notice about a Firehouse sub is how much better the bread is; just study, for example, Firehouse bread vs. Subway bread online and even in two dimensions you can see the difference in quality. Next, the quality and quantity of the meats and cheeses are noticeably higher at Firehouse, especially when compared to the sketchy, meager portions doled out at the complacent and obsolete Subway. For the record, I've only ever had the Italian at Firehouse, but I've scrutinized the orders of other customers, and I sense that every sandwich this restaurant makes is at the same level as the outstanding Italian. Now, you'll pay considerably more here than either at Jimmy John's or at Subway, but the superior product at Firehouse more than justifies the extra outlay. read more
