I decided to visit the local Culver's in Belleville for lunch several days ago. For those of you…read morewho have never been to one of these restaurants, you owe it to yourself to pay it a visit, especially if you love seasonal Walleye like I do. Culver's is the next level fast food experience you will love. Since I was pressed for time, I decided to do a pickup curbside order rather than going inside. Thankfully, using their app is a very straightforward process, and my order was delivered to my car on time. Likewise, the person who brought it to my car was very polite and made sure my order was correct. I played it safe and ordered a Deluxe Burger, with Swiss cheese, lettuce, and a slice of tomato. The flavor was amazing, and it reminded me of the hamburgers that my father would cook up on the grill as a child. Absolutely amazing.

The young man taking my order was very polite and efficient. I picked up my place number went and got my drink and sat down. I didn't have to wait too long. And my food arrived. First off, I need to tell you back in the early 1980s. I was a manager at a Long John Silver's. So I shouldn't have to say I knew all about deep fried fish. The filets of walleye we're quite large. Sadly they were mushy and greasy. I put one of the pieces and a couple napkins.By the time I got to it the napkins were drenched in grease. The French fries we're overdone and the coalslaw had way to much dressing, the bun was stale. It was a waste of $21.

Saroki's has the best fried chicken ever. It's better than Popeyes and KFC. I can't believe that…read moreall of their locations are at Shell gas stations. They have some chicken that's already fried under heat lamps, but you can also ask them to fry you new pieces. I got the three piece (two wings and a breast) plus biscuit for $7.99. The breast was already fried under a heat lamp and they were out of wings. They told me that it would be twenty minutes if I wanted to wait for the wings. That was fine and I waited. The wings and breast tasted the same even though the breast was under the heat lamp and the wings were freshly fried. It was extra crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and very well seasoned. Their biscuits are also delicious. It has a crispy honey coating on the top and the inside is very fluffy. Trust me when I tell you that they have the best fried chicken. I eat fried chicken all the time. I need to stop, lol. I tried another location before this and came here just to compare. They were both legit.

I said it). I LOVE it!! For $13, I get my choice of 3 chicken parts, a side- the Cole slaw is really good... a little tart, a little sweet. The chicken - even after sitting a bit - is always great, never soggy and with a spicy kick. And a soda. The food & counter area are clean, tidy and well maintained. The staff at the food counter are really nice people and unless you want a pizza, the wait is minimal. You can buy one piece of chicken, or combos, plus they have wonderful looking pizza. And prolly much more. I selected "Ambiance" because the counter and business area are never dirty, the employees are polite, friendly and if it was a "stand alone" establishment, it would reflect the owners's vision. Gas prices are decent, also!!

Service is fine tuned to the huge volume of customers that arrive every day. Ordering is down to a science, once one gets familiar with the ordering kiosk. Assistants are nearby if you have any trouble. Order to take out or dine in. We like to dine in as the atmosphere on the second floor dining area (steps or elevator to ascend up) is fun and whimsical. Very casual. Pictures below describe what we chose (and LOVED)! As a MSU Spartan, GO GREEN, Zingermans might be one of the only reasons I'd travel to blue nation! Worth the sacrifice... : ) (just kidding)

So while it was chaotic and overwhelming, the workers would hand you a menu, explain the purchasing process and even give you requested samples! Due to trying a sample of their pretzel, I ended buying a bag. An $8 bag!!! It was perfectly crunchy and buttery and very good! I don't even like pretzels and these impressed me. Also got a $9 bag of only 5 palmier cookies. They were good but definitely a splurge. BF bought a small bottle of balsamic vinegar for $23, like wut?! I eyed a jar of salsa for $28 and jam for $16 but damn, everything was way above even farmer's market prices. The sandwiches start at $18 for a small and go to $24 for a large. BF and I got the chicken avocado on challah bread and a new crunchy pickle. Zingerman's does a good job with their pickles! Skins were a little too hard but I love that they're not overly pickled and still crunchy and not too much other seasoning. For $21, the sandwich was not very big and they don't include chips or fries. If I lived closer, heck yes I would come here pretty often to try a sample and buy a very expensive baked good. I appreciated the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was giving Trader Joe's employee energy! Parking was a little tricky but not impossible. We came with locals so they knew what was up.
