They had all kinds of other activities inside and out like face painting and basketball. We had so much fun! Food wise - we were so pleased to find Secret Sausage brought their big stand to the event - they are THE BEST sausages and hot dogs in Seattle! Big fields, a playground and a ball court all on the Community Center grounds. Parking can be a little tricky as its in a neighborhood and the dedicated parking spaces are minimal. But if you get there early or don't mind walking down the sidewalk a block or two - you'll be fine. They have community classes, preschool and after school care onsite also. I can't speak to those but have friends that have loved the teachers and programs there for the littles. Very loving and nurturing environment. Have met a few of the community center staff and volunteers and to me they can all be best described as big hearted! They are all so friendly and caring to our friends and family even though not all of us regularly attend classes or just show up for occasional events on site. The front desk has been very helpful and accommodating with my questions and requests for directions. Really, can't say enough good about the Loyal Heights Community Center. It's just a very warm place and the people there make you feel welcome and right at home!

Fantastic caring staff that actually remembers its community members. Super helpful and kind, and they have established a truly safe feeling space for me and my children as we have been so lucky to be a part of the community now for 5 years. My only issue is that I can't get into their childcare programs because they're so popular! the sparc sign up system is a bit frustrating, but the staff at the center have always been so helpful in circumventing that with me :D they throw killer events for our kiddos and really tie us all into a community. can't wait for that new playground to be finished!

Hello, My name is…read moreCaress Pina and I am the sister of a recent 911 caller to which members of the Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded. My sister is 19 and has sickle cell anemia. It is a life threatening chronic illness. The leading causes of death with this disease include severe pain all over the body, chest pain, shortness of breath, stroke, or catching a virus that their weak immune systems can't fight off. My sister suddenly went into a pain crisis accompanied by severe chest pain, severe shortness of breath, and vomiting. She called our brother to pick her up but I told her to call 911. As expected, the Emergency Vehicle arrived first. My sister was in the fetal position on the floor when they arrived. They took her vitals and saw her blood pressure was 170/100. Instead of giving her oxygen, they asked if she had taken her albuterol then whispered about whether she should take more puffs. They put a pulze ox on her finger and saw her oxygen levels were low but still did not give her oxygen. They then asked her what hospital she usually goes to, she told them Seattle Children's and they said they don't go that far. All this is going on amidst the responders making jokes and laughing about unrelated things. Finally whoever was in charge told her there isn't anything they can do as EMT's and silently waited for her to respond. My 19 year old sister is on the floor writhing in pain, gasping for air and those who are supposed to be responsible for her life are standing around making jokes and waiting for her to give them the okay to leave the scene. They asked her if she wanted to wait for the paramedic that goes to her hospital or wait for her 19 year old twin brother to take her instead of rushing her to the hospital for emergency care themselves. This is a gross failure to serve. They put her in even more danger by showing a lack of compassion and sheer ignorance to the magnitude of the situation. My sister could have died. My brother could have been caught in traffic and her condition could have worsened and she could have DIED because a room full of people who were supposed to care for her simply didn't. What's worse is they didn't even have the decency to call the hospital ahead of time to alert them of her arrival or explain the situation. She is now admitted at Settle Children's on the CANCER floor. That is how serious her condition is. I need to know what will be done. There needs to be training about chronic illness of ALL types and how to properly and effectively respond. Behaviors need to be corrected and those responders need to know that EVERY situation where someone calls 911 is an emergency and should be treated as such. They behaved unprofessionally and it's unacceptable. Just imagine being 19, being in a pain crisis, knowing your illness can kill you, calling 911 and having everyone arrive and stand around watching while you're curled up on the floor crying in pain and barely breathing.

There is another paid lot on the south end on 6th. There is limited parking in the same building. The lobby is spacious. Security is helpful. Monitors are available showing bus schedules. There is a Starbucks in the lobby. There are 2 banks of elevators. One bank to take to you the 16th floor and lower. The Second to take you to floors higher than 16th. When going to a floor higher than 40th, you'd need to transfer to a second set of elevators on the 40th. There are 3 eateries: a Vietnamese restaurant Core Bistro and 2 others outside the building: a Mexican restaurant Bebas And Amigos and a salad/sandwich store Chew Chews Eatery. You'd need to go upstairs from the lobby level. The Mexican restaurant and salad bar is outside the building. There are 2 other floors below the lobby. You'll see some great artwork here, a gift store and escalators to join up to the Columbia Tower. To get to Columbia tower, turn right at the bottom of the escalator to take a second set of escalators. At the bottom, go through the glass doors at the bottom of the escalator and turn left. If you turn right, it takes you through a tunnel. Follow this to another set of escalators to take you up to the Bank of America tower across the street. Pretty handy if you really want to stay warm! Amazon Locker is also located on the bottom level.

They where patient(even though it was dinner time) and answer questions, gave us a tour and let the kids up on the vehicles. I know this library very well, and I read all of the reviews below, especially the negative ones…read more It breaks my heart, this place was a place of refuge for me. And there are a few different volunteers (it takes someone very unique to want to volunteer at a metaphysical library) so perhaps it was one of the not so socially aware human being. But the volunteer aka the librarian, is not what makes this library a gem in Seattle. It's the contents. After all let's not judge the book by it's cover =)...Also, if you were lucky and ran into Margarette while there, then you'd have a completely different experience of the library. She is a walking library herself, so full of amazing real life experiences through many decade bygone. I love spending time with her. Another point to keep in mind, is that being a metaphysical library it gets a lot of abuse from folks who don't like the idea of things non-mainstream. Be kind to these folks, they are sticking their necks out to hold the space for this information in physical form. You can find things on the webs for sure, but there is nothing like looking and touching the actual material. Loads of awesome books, and ya not for the tourists, it's for locals to join and support the library by membership and/or donations, there is no profit in this business. It's all by donation and love/care of folks that run it. And yes, many of them are very eccentric, still they are doing their best.

We had just spent our time in Ballard at Archie McPhee and a Cat Cafe (yeah, we paid to pet cats I am allergic to, shut up)...so this seemed like the next step. "There's an u-n-d-e-r-g-r-o-u-n-d metaphysical library listed and it's not far. It says it is in a basement, unmarked, and if there is a sign up about the fresh bread it's a signal it is open." Oh, now we're talking. We wandered around the eerily quiet old building for a moment, people poking heads out of their offices to see who was there. "Uh, we're looking for the stairs to the library if it's open" A man points, we continue on. We walk in to the space and eerily quiet takes on a whole new meaning. Ancient man set up in the middle. He appears to be the curator. As I looked at the stack upon stacks of books, laminated newspapers and actual research papers, I expected this man to rise from his seat and regale us for hours with tales of spiritual encounters and confess his membership in the illuminati...NOPE, barely a glance our direction. As we share the few feet of open space with him we spoke in a whisper as not to disturb his work. JFK conspiracy theories? Check Satanism? Check Area 51? Check When I say this place was cramped and cluttered, I mean there could have been a Tall Grey hiding in here and we wouldn't have found him.
