Came here twice a day - imaging the face of the waitress seeing us again for dinner after a long-2-hour hotpot lunch. Great, authentic hot pot place for an empty stomach on a freezing gloomy rainy night. Also after traveling around Europe for two weeks, a good choice to satisfy your craving for that hometown flavor. even though the interior is not traditionally chinese and the whole place seems pretty modern the food seems to be relatively authentic as far as I can tell. Prices are very reasonable. I'm not sure about the service. We always had great service but my friend pretty much ordered them around in mandarin and don't know if the service is any different when ordering in english or german. read more

Open on Xmas Day for dinner and located very close to the Tryp hotel which was a blessing for us travellers too lazy to head into town for a meal. As far as hot pot places go, it wasn't bad at all. 19 euros for all you can eat buffet. The soup was a little bland but once you start cooking all the seafood available (mussels, clams, prawns, squid, fish, crab claws) and meat (beef, lamb, beef balls), the broth becomes sweeter. There is also a selection of cooked snacks - mostly offal, but I was informed by my dining companions the bread was pretty decent as well. Just great! I wasn't expecting to find an authentic hotpot place here in Munich but this place turned out to be just awesome! Of course European standard. You should never compare a Chinese restaurant here with the popular ones in China. Good service, a variety of fresh seafood and vegetable which is really a bonus as I don't eat meat. Nice authentic sesame sauce dip with cilantro! My favorite in China! So excited! For the pot, I had medium spicy which turned out not spicy at all. Will try the most spicy one next time. Ah, they also have fried sesame rice ball which was soooo tasty but toooo filling:( Waitress is nice, I managed to practice some Cantonese with her:) Basically this place saved my dining life in Munich! read more

2.5 stars. I was impressed to find out that there was a Chinese hot pot restaurant in Munich (or anywhere else in Germany), so I was pretty excited to check this place out. My excitement dropped quickly as soon as we went inside this seemingly huge establishment. Two stories high with really high ceilings and top-to-bottom glass windows, this restaurant is modern but lacks charm (perhaps I expected a more traditional Chinese restaurant setup with its dragon and phoenix wall panel...). The biggest turn-off was the beginning: the service. It was absolute chaos. We had a reservation, and upon arrival, people were waiting, and the manager was frantically running back and forth and somewhat ignored us. When we finally had a chance to tell him we had a reservation, he looked at us in confusion. Luckily, we were only 2 people, so we eventually got a table...only to be kicked off 20 minutes later because the diners next to us told the waiters that they were waiting for 4 more people coming and need more space. Basically, we sat for 20 minutes with no one coming to us, simply watching everyone else around us stuffing their faces with food. After that horrendous ordeal (30 minutes after our reservation), we finally got our table. Our server then was nice, and the service was ok. Luckily, the hot pot dinner is self-served, so no need to call the already-chaotic service to get food. We got a beef hot-pot dinner, which came with 2 styles of broth (one spicy and one not), a LOT of raw sliced beef (more than 500 g) for us to cook, and moderate servings of sauces (soy and peanut sauces). The selection of food was decent: a good variety of seafood (shrimps, clams, mussels, squids, crabs), vegetables (mushrooms, tofu, broccoli, etc), and noodles. I mostly ate the seafood, and it was ok-quality. Every diner gets a plate of fruit (oranges and pineapples) after dinner. Price is fair enough: 17.80 EUR per person for an all-you-can-eat hot pot buffet. But no ok-quality buffet is going to get me to go back to experience that front service mess again. read more

Simply put, this is the worst Chinese hot pot restaurant I have been to in the world! First there was no one to greet at the door for at least 5 minutes. Then we were greeted by 2 people that seemed to be upset that we were there for business (nowhere close to closing time). All apps were cold (even though it is self serve). Waitress said we were NOT allowed to share a pot of Chinese tea. One pot per person! Quality of food was the worst. After having only one bowl each, both my partner and I wanted to make a run for the door. Am quite surprised at the rating of this restaurant on Yelp considering the quality of food and definite lack of service. Save yourself the time and money and DO NOT go here. read more

My recent 14-day vacation to the Netherlands and the West (-along Rhine River) & South-East region of Germany, We stayed in Munich for 4 nights that was our last stop. There were 3 out of 4 nights we have dinner at the Fire Dragon Restaurant. Due to one of my elder sister is a vegetarian, we didn't order the Hot-pot dishes (of which appeared the most popular item at the establishment) instead, we ordered other variety Chinese dishes from the menu that includes Chinese language. Frankly, I would say that the food we have during the 14-day vacation, we have the best at the Fire Dragon Restaurant. In addition, the owner Mr. Paul Chan & his staffs were super friendly! Nonetheless to say that we received great services! I wasn't except such authentic Chinese Food (especially those stewed meats) at any country that does not have large population of Chinese. My 3 elder sisters were very much enjoyed all foods we ordered. Without the 2nd thoughts, if I ever visit Munich again and feel for Asian food, I won't go other places but the Fire Dragon Restaurant. This was my first visit to Munich, we travelled there for Oktoberfest! Our group wanted Chinese so when we entered Fire Dragon we were very excited to experience, Japanese food! When we enters the restaurant, we weren't greeted by anyone so we asked a waitress close by if we could have seating for five. I have never felt more un-welcomed in a restaurant as I had felt entering into Fire dragon. The waiter was rude and impatient, stating " what do you want" as we started placing our orders. I guess the waiter was frustrated with the language barrier ( as anyone would be) but instead of trying to help us figure out our orders he went to get another waitress equally as rude and impatient. Don't go.Just don't.I ordered spicy soup and my partner got the regular clear soup one. Both of them tasted like water with nothing in it. The food to put in your pot didn't seem fresh enough. Everything was kind of packed under crushed ice to keep it seemingly fresh. Went there for dinner and it was 49.40 euros for the food and 2 glasses of tap water. They served the German first even when they arrived much later than us! I think that having meals together you will have to keep in good mood, even though the food is so lala. Good food - terrible service. This is the restaurant that made me finally register on Yelp, and I really wish it had been for the 'right' reasons. Unfortunately, the only thing good about the place was the food, and that's really not enough. Being alone, I knew I had to wait for a small table to be free, so that didn't bother me at all. However, once seated the service went downhill. The guy serving me was visibly annoyed at me for wanting to order from the set menu, rather than the hot-pot everyone else seemed to be having. After telling what I wanted for starters (spring rolls, I was a little in safe mode that day), he sighed loudly - before I had a chance to say anything more - and asked if that was all I was having. Of course not. But placing my order for the main course (beef in some spicy sauce is all I remember...), he actually rolled his eyes (!) at me, before walking off without saying anything. The spring rolls were good, so my mood stabilized somewhat. The main course was plentiful and really tasty (though appeared more like soup with beef in it), so I was quite happy. Then he approached and really told - rather than asked - me to move to another seat to free the table for someone else. This being the smallest type of table there, I don't really see why, but was so perplexed I just went with it. I was seated at an eight person table, with strangers all around, and hot-pots everywhere, leaving little room for my own plates. What's more, my chopsticks and napkin were just cleared away and he didn't give me new ones - but luckily I could get some from the free seat across from me. Waiting for the bill obviously takes time in a big and crowded place, but when I asked for it he again rolled his eyes, looking at the bowl of food (empty of beef, but still filled with sauce making it look full).
