Divine Concrete - Solid stone chimney repair

Master class from start to finish. Go with these guys…read more My old brick steps were caving in and every business I spoke to gave me wildly different quotes with no explanation of work. Some didn't even come out just asked for photos and gave me a number back. I was starting to get worried until I got in contact with Divine Concrete. They came out the same day to look at the job. Gave me multiple options and a clear plan for the project. The cost was appropriate and they explained the reasoning behind it. Overall, they made the buying experience easy and I felt confident moving forward. Once work began, the staff and crew were very nice and respectful. They kept the worksite clean you wouldn't have thought a construction job was even happening. The steps were poured and completed on schedule. The railing took an extra day due to rain, but they kept me informed with text updates. Not a complaint, just a good example of clear communication and professionalism. The steps turned out exactly as I needed for a long-term rental property. For the record, they absolutely do higher-end work, but what impressed me most was that they listened. I asked for something simple and functional, and that's what they delivered. No upsells, no nonsense. 10 out of 10. Great job all around. I plan to work with Divine Concrete on more projects in the future and I'm especially looking forward to seeing what they can do once I start on the forever home.

If I could give Action Chimney & Home Improvements 10 stars, I would!…read more I originally called them because I had a leak in my chimney that was causing water to drip into my fireplace. From the very first interaction, they were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind. They even worked with my budget and lowered the total cost of the job when I couldn't afford the full quote. That kind of understanding is RARE. Julie, the owner, is an absolute gem. She genuinely cares about her customers and goes above and beyond every time. I've now hired them for FOUR different jobs: 1. Fixed my leaking chimney 2. Power washed my entire house 3. Installed a 20x20 concrete patio in my backyard 4. Resurfaced my asphalt driveway (and came back a YEAR later to apply sealcoat for extra protection!) They even let me pay for the driveway in three installments since I couldn't afford it all at once. Seriously--who does that anymore? What impressed me most (besides the amazing quality of work) was how consistently they communicated with me throughout every project. No guesswork, no stress--just clear updates, honest work, and beautiful results. You can tell this team truly cares about doing right by their customers. They take pride in their work and it shows. If you're looking for contractors you can trust--who will show up, do an excellent job, and treat you like family--call Action Chimney & Home Improvements. You will not be disappointed. Thank you again Julie and team--you've earned a customer for life!

It took me some time to post this review due to Yelp's character limit, as it was important to be…read moreas clear and detailed as possible. I originally intended to include the full text message documentation, but due to space limitations I have summarized those exchanges here. While the porch may look acceptable to a casual observer, there are significant workmanship and professionalism issues that future customers should be aware of. I hired Luke's Landscaping and Hardscaping in August 2023 to replace my original front porch. I contacted Jim (the owner) based on positive Yelp reviews. He responded promptly, came out to inspect the job, discussed his experience, and later provided a contract. Before hiring, I asked a question based on feedback from another contractor. Jim became defensive and upset, accusing me of questioning his expertise, which I found concerning. Jim's price was lower than other bids, which ultimately influenced my decision. In hindsight, this was a mistake. Jim and his worker Mikey worked long hours and communicated throughout the project. However, several issues arose: 1. My original porch had a decorative rectangle shaped directly into the concrete, which I requested be replicated. This was overlooked during the pour, and by the time it was noticed, the finisher stated that the concrete was already setting and could not be shaped at that stage. Jim later cut the rectangle into the fully cured concrete. While the cut itself is neat, it is deeper than a shape created during finishing and now collects debris, requiring ongoing cleaning. 2. The porch height was altered unevenly. The left side was raised approximately 1.5 inches while the right side remained at the original height, resulting in a noticeable slope. This caused the top step to be slanted and deeper than before. I was not informed this would occur. 3. My original porch had a bullnose edge across the steps and front. Only the top step was initially bullnosed. When I questioned this, Jim said the original porch did not have one. I later provided photos proving it did. After that, he added the bullnose across the porch. 4. Two days after the pour, I noticed a crack. When I texted Jim, he initially insisted it could only have been caused by sabotage. Later, when he saw it in person, he attributed it to expansion. A second crack was also found. Jim patched both cracks using a different cement than what had been poured by the company he hired for the new porch and assured me multiple times that the color would match. Once dried, the patched areas did not match and have since re-cracked. 5. After I paid in full, Jim contacted me stating he had underbid the demolition and asked me to contribute additional money toward dump fees. I offered $250 beyond the contract. He then continued to push for more money and stated that he would repaint the damaged railings and redo the cracks if I paid additional demolition costs. These items were not upgrades or additional work--they were corrections to issues created during the original job and should have been addressed as part of the contracted work. I ultimately sent the additional $250 as offered. 6. Concrete splatter from the pour covered all porch railings. Jim's team attempted to clean the concrete off, but in doing so pulled off the newly applied paint, leaving the railings discolored and ashy and requiring full repainting. Jim later claimed he had told me not to paint the railings beforehand; this was never said at any point prior to the work. 7. When I later contacted Jim about an unresolved crack and two brooms mistakenly taken from my property, the communication escalated. Jim became hostile, accused me of disrespect, and ended the working relationship. Though he stated the brooms would be returned, they were not. 8. During demolition, the lower front-facing concrete was chipped. Only the top portion was resurfaced, leaving a visibly two-tone appearance. When I raised this concern, Jim stated that the lower portion was simply dirty older concrete and that over time the new white concrete would look the same. This explanation was given after the work was completed and without prior discussion or approval. What he said was FALSE; it is 2 different colors of concrete. Afterward, three independent contractors asked whether rebar had been installed. It was not. I was told this likely contributed to the cracking. What began as a promising project resulted in multiple defects, cracks (now three total), additional costs, and unprofessional conduct. I paid approximately $5,000 and will need to hire another contractor to correct the work. If you consider this company, ensure your contract includes post-job cleanup, reinforcement details, and a written warranty, and do not make final payment until everything is complete and satisfactory.

The price was super reasonable as well, and Barry was great during the entire process. I thought I had found my concrete guy in the area! I had mentioned to Barry that I would be redoing the pool later in the summer/early fall and would love for him to do our stamped concrete. I had reached out on August 22nd, and Barry responded and even sent some great work they had recently done around a pool. I tried to schedule a time and heard less and less, until I received a call from a Samantha at a different number. We set an appointment for 9/16 at 3:30pm. I received a call from Samantha at 2:30pm on 9/16 saying that something had happened at a job site and Barry had to be there to manage it. I get that, I appreciated the call, and realized that I would want Barry to do the same thing if the issue were at my house. She happily rescheduled to 9/19 at 3:30pm. On 9/19, I waited and waited, but Barry never showed up. I tried calling and texting both phone numbers to try and get a hold of him; but no answers and messages were never returned. I have tried on 5 separate occasions to get a hold on both numbers, but I have not received any communication back. I was essentially ghosted, and we are now trying to find who to use to do our pool.

Refuse to pay half when the job starts. They will take your money, work for a day, and then it will be like pulling teeth to get them to finish or attempt to get your moneys worth. He complained about how much the job was costing him when he would rent a machine, use it for 4 hours and then it sat untouched for a few days. It was the most unprofessional workmanship I have ever experienced. I offered to pay extra to just get it done and nothing. Call ty at 856 373 1640. There is no reason someone doing concrete would need half of the contracted price up front. Materials cost next to nothing.
