Their efforts are geared toward family literacy with programs geared to both adults and children. They operate many excellent programs around Palm Beach County including Glades Family Education, Village Readers, and Workplace / Community Education. Improving literacy helps improve the lives of Palm Beach County residents. It helps build future leaders. The Coalition's efforts are worth researching to understand what they do and how you can help as a volunteer, tutor or donor. You will not be disappointed. My wife and I have witnessed several of their programs first hand and have been supporting their efforts for several years. We will continue doing that into the future.

While it seems like alot of the negative reviews on here are a bit bias after not meeting certain…read morerequirements or being turned away from a surrender, there's some truth in there about the service here. For context I've worked extensively with both cats and dogs through various non profits and rescues, I'm an experienced dog trainer, I work fully remote, I've had various past pets that have made it beyond their normal lifespan, and own a size-able fenced backyard. I filled out an application interested in meeting and potentially adopting a dog from them. 2 or 3 felt like a good fit. I filled out the extensive application and called 2 hours later following up to show my interest and to make sure it was received, I also wanted to make a small donation as I love non-profits rescues like this. I went into this trying to be as polite as possible to make a good impression. A man answered extremely annoyed told me "your problem is reviews take 48 hours, Have some patience and wait." And hung up on me. I felt a bit caught off guard but assumed maybe they had a lot going on. When I checked my email they had responded to me within those 2 hours and told me "The pet you're interested in already has to many applications. There's plenty of other great pets on Petfinder, good luck!". The dog in question was listed 5 hours earlier in the day and They ignored my interest in their other dogs entirely and essentially told me to kick rocks and try the internet. The whole experience kinda soured me on this place and the fact they didn't even consider my interest in one of the other dogs feels counter productive to the entire point of getting these pups homes. I know the reaction probably stemmed from stress and outside factors but still don't think I should be talked to like dirt and dismissed for reaching out. I'm sure there's a lot of good people here but they gotta work on their out reach and how they place these dogs. This morning I was willing to drive up, meet their pups to see who's a good fit for my family, and pitch in a donation to help out. Now I'm not even sure how sincere they are about their mission statement.
